Question Kw vs Hp vs Bhp???

In my country we measure the power output of an engine in Kw, but it seems the rest of the world measures power ouput in HP. Whats the difference? How do you convert the different measurements, and is there any difference between Break Horse Power (Bhp)?

I realise this is possibly a stupid question, but its been bugging me for a while.

Default To answer the question...

One horsepower (HP, or BHP, however you want to phrase it because it doesn't matter) is the equal of 746 watts.

1kw=1000w
1hp/bhp=745.70103354w. ( so 746 )
1kw=1.34102hp

bhp and hp are the same thing.
Need more info?

They are. Only differece is in how they're measured. BHP is more accurate because it relys on a dyno instead of mathematical predictions. Although, manufacturers are still capable of fudging the numbers by stripping the engine on the dyno.

BHP = Brake Horsepower....

WHP = Wheel horsepower..

Those 2 numbers are extremely close(almost the same, but the wheel does take a very little away"

HP is usually crank/flywheel HP..which is what the ENGINE makes..Not what your car is producing.

i'm pretty sure drivetrain loss brings some cars up to 15% loss, especially for awd applications. that's a lot.

the drivetrain stealing 15% power away from the engine is a lot. WHP=85%(BHP), so it's definitely not the same.

WHP = BHP..Brake HP = Horsepowere at your BRAKES....

WHP = HP going to the surface area of your rubber tires.....

Not much difference in those..

Now HP..FLywheel/crank HP..is where the pre 15% loss is measured.
