Default Will the Viper return to racing?

Will the Viper return to racing once Dodge makes a production coupe? I've seen and read about the new Viper competition coupe, but when will it race? I've heard that good old Team Orca had an undefeated record so will they be back racing with the new Viper? I have all these questions due to the fact that I'm very interested in the competition coupe and never follow the Vipers racing history...

Here's a link to some pictures of the competition coupe:

right now there's no official word of a production GTS coupe, and the comp. coupe has been on sale for several months, people with racing licences buy them and race them privately, so right now the chances of the viper returning to races like lemanns are slim but in the coming years who knows, I think we'll see a return within the next 2-5 years

that's kind of what the competition coupe looks like, it's just wider, but the inside is nothing like a normal car, it's all racing, just a shell on the light wieght frame

I can still see some vipers racing, but that are some national races. It would be cool if they make another racingcar for the FIA GT or Le Mans. They would be real competitors for the Ferrari. I hope they come back!!

i think i've seen some competition coupes in the speed GT challenge or something like that. I don't think it's been doing real well, but it's a really new car. Things will work out. I hope they make a factory sponsored team for lemans and give those vettes a taste of thier venom. BTW, did you know dodge is backing a team in drifting, and their using a viper!

Tommy Archer won the Speed World Challenge Driver's Championship in a Viper last year.
He's leading the Speed World Challenge Driver's Championship points so far this year, and Dodge is also leading the manufacturers' championship as well.

There are a couple of privateers driving Vipers in the American Lemans Series. I haven't heard much about their results, however.

I haven't heard of any plans for factory sponsored efforts at Lemans. I guess that Dodge is pouring all its money into NASCAR, and probably figure they already made their point with the Dodge Viper/Team Oreca domination at Lemans in years past. I have no doubt that if they wanted to put the money into it, that they could come up with another dominant Lemans effort. For endurance racing, having a big engine that can loaf along at high speeds and barely break a sweat is a significant advantage over smaller, more highly strung powerplants.
