Audi R10!!!
This new race car is the replacement of the succesful Audi R8 an it will be powered by a DIESEL V10 engine with two Turbos. It's spected to debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans next year.

If I'm right that '99 version was called R8R instead of R8. But this is it on the picture, I'm 100% positive.

I've been hearing about this for at least two years. Audi wants to win LeMans with a diesel, that's for sure. Just imagine the advertising if they succeed !!!

Crossle is right, that is the '99 R8R(click!). And it's also no secret that Audi wants to win Le Mans with a diesel powered car.

Can anyone tell me if there is any advantage to diesel vs gasoline? IMO gasoline is much better.

Fuel economy during the race will be better : less pit stops. So they will gain time there.
Then the diesel should have more torque, so better acceleration out of the turns and probably less shifting too. And with today's diesel technology it should be as fast as the gas cars.

Very interesting article about the Perkins developed VW Taureg V10 diesel used in Taurus Racing's #10 Lola last lear at LeMans.
