Ok, I am visiting a friend currently and he has a 2007 Z4 M as i have stated in a comparison. I made a comparison between this and the Lotus Exige S. I dont think that was as good a comparison as I would have liked so I am trying to revise that one with the 2009 M3. We went to go do something about his car in the dealership and looking at it I remarked how the 2009 M3 may be better (i almost took the bus back)
I think its a nicer car although its 20,000 more, but you could fit a body in the boot- i mean lots of shopping. Check out the spec's I think its worth the extra quid. I guess it all comes down to personal preference and wallet size... We also saw the Alpina B5 touring model and thought its amazing! 2009 M3 Coupe Engine Type: V8 Displacement cu in (cc): 244 (3999) Power bhp (kW) at RPM: 420(313) / 8300 Torque lb-ft (Nm) at RPM: 295(400) / 3900 Redline at RPM: 8400 Exterior Dimensions & Weight Weight lb (kg): 3648 (1655) Performance Acceleration 0-60 mph s: 4.6[/FONT] Top Speed mph (km/h): 155 (250) - electronically limited (NOOOOOOOOO) 2007 Z4 M [BEngine[/b] Type: Inline-6 Displacement cu in (cc): 198 (3246) Power bhp (kW) at RPM: 330(243) / 7900 Torque lb-ft (Nm) at RPM: 262(355) / 4900 Redline at RPM: 8000 Exterior Dimensions & Weight Length × Width × Height in: 160.4 × 69.5 × 50.2 Weight lb (kg): 3295 (1495) Performanc Acceleration 0-60 mph s: 4.8 Top Speed mph (km/h): 155 (250) - electronically limited (once again, NOOOOOOO)

Of course i'm going to prefer the M3, mainly because its a brilliant car, plus i've never really liked the Z4 M. Its great on the track but on the road it isn't very good. So this all comes down to price really. The M3 is great value for money, its got a great new V8 engine, very nice interior, and it looks fantastic. So if I was your friend, i'd save up and go for the M3.

HA! I knew it was the better deal, but either way I saw it I thought it best to agree or take the bus. The thing that amazed me was he got the car because it looked cool and was an M, not because it was a driving masterpiece. It took him 3 months just to get past the break in period. He barely drove it on the weekends and only for lunch during the weekdays, when he would drive his crappy other car to and from work. I think he took a trip for a few hours but the time I did hang out with him he was driving it pretty slowly. God, why do people like this exist?? must be to torture me, hahaha
Another mate of mine has got a UK 2004 M3 and he drives this pretty hard...

Hum, the M3 is the more traditional and evocative version imo, its still not as good as it could be according to the motoring press, but its looks good and has one of the best production V8's atm. The Z4 M I am mixed on. On the one hand it should be the most diffinative M car, but too many people have said its handling is not as good as the E46 M3, and not worthy of the M badge... humm... I still like it though.

Wait for the 1 series to come out if you have to have a BMW that goes like it should and has room inside.
It's going to be as quick as the M3 without the pig-ass weight penalty and the ridiculously exhuberant pricetag. Plus, it'll still have that sweet, sweet inline six from the 3 series (including the 300 horsepower twin-turbo 335i's engine...not my thing...but cool, nonetheless), the only nifty looking Bangle styling cues in the whole lineup (that guy should have designed small cars...the flame-style thing works on small cars), and hopefully, some old school BMW small-car magic. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It just might, maybe, actually be a real BMW. Like the BMW I used to adore and respect.

The M3. It'll be more of a drivers car, as the Z4 M is a handfull to drive, and the M3 is more practical. Also it'll have that throaty V8.
