Default Viper vs. Vette II

I did this long ago but now that the new C6 is out and the Viper is adding yellow and white as paint options for the new design's third year I think it's time to some new opinions, see people have changed and see what some new face think.
I only want to hear about the current SRT-10 available and the C6 base/convertable/Z51. I do not want the upcoming Z06 or GTS coupe to brought up along the with the compitetion coupe. Only street legal production cars. Also, I certaintly don't want the Ford GT brought up, and I don't want to hear "I hate both" and things like that. If you don't like the cars than take your posts to another topic.

The Corvette:
America's premier sportscar with over 50 years of very rich history behind it, goes into its 6th evolution. This car is the epidemy of bang-for-buck.

Base price: Coupe: $44,245 Convertible: $52,245
engine size: 6.0 liters
horsepower: 400
torque: 400 lb-ft
0-60 mph: 4.3 seconds
1/4 mile: <13seconds est.
top speed: 186mph

The Viper:
The fastest porduction convertible in America. A dream car of many, it combines classic muscle with modern styling. Offers the best performance of any car under $100,000.

Base price: Convertible: $81,090
engine size: 8.3 liters
horsepower: 500
torque: 525 lb-ft
0-60 mph: 3.9 seconds
1/4 mile: 11.7 seconds
top speed: 190 est.

Im very impressed by the new vette and love the styling. The new viper never really looked great in my eyes but i would love to get some proper power out of that engine. If i had 100 grand, i'd get the C6 drop head, if i had 200 grand i'd buy the viper and go to work on it. at the moment i love the vette but in time it will get a bit comon place at that price, the viper will never go that way. So give me 100 grand now, C6, 200 grand later viper.

I like the Corvette, especially the convertible version, but I would rather choose the Viper, because it has much more power and slightly better exterior styling, although I like the Corvette's interior a little bit more than the Viper's. Anyway, I gave my vote to the Viper.

According to the German car magazine Auto Bild, on 100 kilometers Viper uses 30.5 litres in the city, 12.4 on the highway and 19.4 in the combined driving.

Viper, simply because of the fact that the exhaust comes out from the side

Question: Can the Corvette Convertible Z51 really get 0-60 in 4.3 seconds. I thought it was the coupe that was that fast... Just question

As for the compro, I'd fork up the extra 30K or so and force myself to endure the interior heat and road noice. That's right, I choose the badass side exit exhaust spitting Dodge Viper SRT-10. I just dont like the new look of the Vette just yet, its those damned new headlamps. They kill America's sportscar IMO and that yellow :smt078. But to defend the Vette from myself I'm going to admit that it is still the best bang-for-buck car available today and I like it a little bit more everytime I take a gander at its sticker price.

I wouldn't call them super cars yet, they are still sportscars IMO. Super-sportscars at that. And yes Detriot may be dying with the lose of Olds, Plymouth, etc. but it isnt dead yet.

I think the coupe and convertible run nearly the same times, which is rare.

Yes. Very rare and impressive too. Do you know the weight differences? And I wonder how big the weight difference will be for the GTS in comparison with the SRT-10...

Usually the weight difference in sportscars is never more than about 250 lbs, I think.

2003 Viper SRT-10 Convertible = 1533 kg / 3380 lbs
1997 Viper GTS = 1524 kg / 3360 lbs
