i think this Z4 is gonna be awesome when it launches. i can't wait for the M-coupe, the last one was great and i can only imagine this one to be even better.

Oh and the Mercedes for me. Never really liked the new BMW Z4. The old shark looking one was quite good, but not this one.

The latest Merc SLK is one of my very favorite sports cars of the past 10 years. The Miata, S2000, and SLK are a tri-fecta of perfection in automobiledom because they represent the three different ways to go about doing a roadster right. The SLK is what a luxurious sports car should be--it's light, it's quick, it's involving, plus it's a cruising vehicle on the side once you put the top up and put it into high gear. And I think it's a spectacular looking little car that will age very, very gracefully.

...BMW makes (used to make) nice sedans. I disliked the Z4 because it was ugly, trendy, and it always seemed so half-baked in the scheme of BMW's cars. I dislike the "Z5" for the same reasons.

And really, Carguy, this comparison is amongst the worst I've ever seen aside from the pretty pictures of the ugly BMW.

Yeah, that's a no on a coupe and M version...

...but having the twin turbo 3.0L inline 6 makes it the perfect sports car. I'd have this Z4 over anything in its class, including the Boxer S and TT-S

I've never been impressed with any of the SLK models.

The Z4 by a mile.

The interior is flawless, and the exterior just looks stunning, except for, in my opinion, a strange greenhouse design...

I've been in both cars, and the SLK feels extremely disappointing, even when compared to other MB vehicles. The BMW just feels very inviting.

There will be no fixed roof model. But I am sure they will have an M version in a year or two.

As for the comparison, could they have gotten uglier colors for these cars? Champagne and 7-Up?

Anyways, give me the Z4. I've never really liked the SLK and now it just looks worse with its SLR-imitation front end. I have nothing more to add. Honestly. BMW me.

@ clutch ~ I saw one in blue at the auto show, it looked pretty slick.

I find that this new Z4 looks horrible with lighter colours, such as white, champagne, silver, etc.

Colours like dark metallic red, dark blue, metallic grey, look good.

The Bimmer is shiny, new, and hot, while the Merc got long in the tooth a while ago.

The fact the Mercedes is down on power and up on feminism (doesn't bother me, but I'm odd) doesn't help it either.

I think it's entirely plausible.

Z4 is raping the Merc in the poll. Give me a Z4. I really hope they make a Z4 M. That would be awesome! I'm sure it'll have the same engine that's in the M3, have 4 pipes, different wheels, and different badging. And that's about it. Still good! Release a coupe!
