Randy, you left out the Chevy diesels, thus making this an incomplete comparo.

The 2500 duramax has the same torque as the 450, but with 10 more hp, and it's cheaper.

more power, similar options, less money. I have to go with the Chevy here. Even though the 07 design needs to be shot. Our 06 looks fantastic, though.

Default Lightning!

I'd have to go with the Ford's. Honestly I really don't like Pickups that much, but I personally own a Ford, so I went with those. If I had to go with just ONE of the pickups, I'd go with the Chevy Silverado, its a good truck.

However, one of the trucks you didn't list...because I don't think they make it anymore, is the F-150 Lightning I love that truck, it actually looks cool and it goes real fast, but you can ACTUALLY keep it on the road...unlike the Dodge Viper Truck.

whether we're talking about everyday performance or modification ability, i would go with the chevy. the duramax is an ultimate powerhouse

the f-150 lightning was discontinued, i do believe

My grandad knows a guy who has a that Dodge SRT-8 or whatever it is, the Truck with the viper engine in it. He says its nearly impossible to keep the thing from smoking the wheels where ever you go. The truck has a HUGE engine with tons of power, and nearly NO weight in the back. Can you say spin-out?

^^
You mean the SRT-10 Ram...they ain't too bad to drive.
They still manage mid 13sec 1/4 mile times right outta the box.
Pretty much even with the now defunct Lightning. Ford should
resurrect the SVT truck...

I really like the look of the new Chevys.
One black 3/4 ton w/ the Z71 pkg pls !

I am presently doing labouring work for a guy who owns an F-250. Its an absolute heap of sh*t so I am going to go with the Chevy on this one even though they are not sold down under.

For an entire line of trucks I pick chevy. They really went all out improved everything on it. Ingeneral they are very nice trucks. I sat in a few at the auto show and they have very nice interroirs. There is a ton of storage space, 2 glove boxes, the storage bin between the two front seats is huge, and lots of other little pockets. They are nice trucks that get good gass milage for their size. The only down side is that they are more expencive then the Fords.

For a daily driver I'd probably pick chevy again. It gets getter fuel milage. The ford and chevy both have nice interriors but the chevy's is slightly better. The biggest reason though is the number of options you can get in it. You can get **** loads of things for the bed that will let you do anything you want, and they also have aftermarket parts avalible directly from the dealer that won't voild trhe warentee. If I could get the king ranch version I'd pick the ford but I can't so I didn't.

For a pure hauler I'd pick the F-450. The 3500HD has a higher torque power band and less torque. The F-450 also has 4 more gallons in it's fuel tank.

EDIT: Nice post. It must have taken you hours to make.

I would take the chevrolet too, i have always liked their pickup trucks, and now since they have out a new one, i would take it

although for 40k i think i would rather have a Lincoln Mark LT

i know what your thinking, why pick the ford with a lincoln badge, but then you picked the chevrolet?

Lincoln is my #2 favorite brand, so there.

I'd take the Fords, they're huge, haven't seen trucks as big as that in my life, got massive loading capabilites and bloody huge engines to haul them about.

They really are great pieces of machinery.

^^^ wtf does that mean?

the way I see it, if the silverado 2500 was meant to contest the f-250 than the f-350 was meant to contest the silverado 3500

and the f-350 is cheaper, has considerable more power, and quite frankly none of the chevy's are visually appealing to me.

and although you could get a 6.6 liter desiel duramax engine but, that option comes with a 7,000+ price tag on top of the 40 g's your already paying. the fords look great, price isnt too bad, I know from expereince they can handle anything the average guy and through at it, and pretty much everything comercial application's can as well.

I know they are of good build quality, they have a great aftermarket, and theyll last pretty long.

the only negative is gas milage. but power consumes gas, thats pretty much how it works. I dont recomend them for non work use, unless you opt for a smaller engine. but for use as work horses, I truly dont think you can ask for better at that price.
