Default Best Selling Vehicles - Country vs Country

Please tell me this is not a repost! Anyway, I had this idea of looking at the best selling cars of all time. I put together a list of the top five best selling cars from some of the major car manufacturing countries around the world and thought people could vote for the country who they think produced the best of the best selling cars. Catch my drift?

Below I have posted images and a small amount of information about the cars (how many they sold etc) and would like you to vote on the poll as to which country has produced the best (please leave patriotism out of it, it would be great to see what people really think). Also, please read the cars below before just voting, we want real opinions please . Please note; many of the cars that have sold well have spanned 5 or more generations of vehicle, and therefore this has brought their figure up. Where available, the newest model produced has been shown.

Information is sourced from Wikipedia

Uhhh...what is the point of this thread?

I mean, I do commend you on how well it's put together. But why did you do it?
The cars here range so far that there is no way you can compare them.

I just thought it would be interesting to do, and I know what you mean about the wide range, but it is about choosing the country that you think produced the best cars, not necessarily comparing the cars directly. Anyway, thanks for the commendation

Well then isn't this just a pure opinion thread where you can't have any real reason behind it?

VW fan boys are going to pick Germany
Ricers and people who like fuel economy and reliable transport are going to pick Japan
People that like cruising and the ability to haul stuff/people will pick America (most likely only Americans)
Idiots will pick France
Frewin, Aston, and the other UK 4 Life members will pick Britian and only point out the Fiesta and Mini
and stupid newtard dumbasses will pick Italy because they make FURARRII AND LAMBO YO!!!!

If thats true, then we will get to see people's loyalties and hopefully the real reason as to why they chose that country. I'm sure a number of members will be patriotic about their vote, but that was obviously going to happen anyway, and we will still see the opinion of the forum overall.

I find it very very hard to believe that the Ford Model T sold 16.5 million units.

Or that the VW beetle is only at 21+ million units.

As in EXTREMELY HARD TO BELIEVE>

^^Well, the Beetle was sold for 65 years straight.

And you can't choose a country for the cars it produced.
I like german cars, but I also like the Mini, Fiesta, Escort, Punto, 206 etc.

So, I'm going to refrain from voting, but I am going to commend you on how well the initial post was done

I am going to point this in the direction of innovations, longest vehicle runs, overall models sold per country, and I'm going to point, without elaborating on anything I just mentioned, that America is the best. It will always be the best.

A Ford Truck is number 2 all time sold vehicles.

That says someone is doing something right from the get-go.

Come on... Two of Britain's cars in this comparison are Fords.

Ford is American, regardless of branches elsewhere in the world producing wholly different cars for different segments.

#2, #5, #8 top ten finishes for a total of 93,500,000 cars sold... F yeah!

Oddly, I'll take the US. The Mini and the Fiesta are the only redeeming cars in the UK category. The Cortina...maybe, but after the MkI it lost its charm. The Metro is a POS no argument there. The US get a pretty decent mix, hell, i'd even put up with an F150

I see what you're saying about Ford not being British, but the Cortina was actually built by Ford of Britain, which was headquartered in Britain and so technically a British company (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_of_britain). Yes, the Fiesta is arguable, but the 'Volkswagen Gol' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Gol) is often considered a Brazilian car, so why cant it apply elsewhere?

Oh, and thanks for the compliment Leka

I'm going to vote for Japan.

Why, because they have the best entry-class vehicles. Basically this thread is comparing entry class cars. They sell the most because they are the cheapest.

Between the Civic, Corrolla, Camry, and Mazda 3, they tend to be on the higher scale of entry class cars here in America. A lot of the other cars do not sell in America, so it would be a tad difficult to compare a car that I have never seen in real life, let alone driven.

------

On another note, when I was test driving cars when I got mine, I test drove -

Civic Sedan
Corrolla
Ford Focus Sedan
Chevy Malibu

Between all of them, The Civic and the Corrolla drove the best, were the most comfertable, and had more ammenities for a lower price.

-------

As we get into higher priced luxury cars, germany is by far the best country. Luxury is their thing. Between BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Audi; they dominate the middle class luxury scene.

-------

Americaland. We make trucks. End of story. The F150, Chevy Avalanche, and Dodge Ram. They are the best. They look the best, work the best and are the best. And for clutch, the GMC is the best of them all. True story.

-----

To sum this all up.

Japan - entry class economical, fuel efficient cars.
Germany - luxury/high(er) end automobiles.
US - Trucks.

i agree with everything you said. and that was pretty what i was going to say in my post.

but if i had to choose one it wouldnt be japan because i dont like toyota. nothing against their cars. they are great. just dont appeal to me.

and wouldnt pick american because i dont drive trucks. but i agree we kick ass when it comes to making trucks. i mean the #2 all time is a truck. im sure that surprises most people when they hear that.

id have to do with germany. and not because i am a fanboy. which im not. just i like their cars. they arent the most reliable but they make up for it with appeal and overall design. my opinion.
