I am unfamilair with Alfa Romeo's. As far as I do know, they are excellent cars. I knwo ALOT more about VW's and have an affinity towards them. Both cars seem to be very closely matched, so what it's going to come down to is price, value, quality, fuel economy, availability, ect. Also, given similar powerplants, there needs to be a comparison of the 0-60 mph times. This will give a good idea of how good the respective transmissions are. Speaking of transmissions, the only ofther thing I'm worried about is the gear box themselves. How well they are put together and such. Any links for the Alfa car would be appreciated.

I don't know if you can understand that but this is for the transmission. The gears:

Alfa Romeo 147 GTA: 1st:3,5:1,2nd:2,235:1,3rd:1,52:1,4th:1,1 56:1,5th:0,971:1,6th:0,818:1.

Volkswagen Golf R32:
1st:3,46:1,2nd:1,94:1,3rd:1,37:1,4th:1,0 3:1,5th:0,85:1...no 6th...

I don't if you can understand anything of that but I don't...That's something for the gears.I think how long they are...

Ofcourse i defenitly choose for the Alfa Romeo!!

I like the beautiful design of the Alfa!! Looks great
I think the R32 does not look much more than quite normal.. except a few things.

The Alfa is faster!! and Topgear said that quality of a 156 GTA was even so good than a BMW 330CI!
So i think the Quality of the VW won't be much better than the Alfa Romeo..

Than the intrieur, WoW what a diffrence i Really DON"T like thatboring VW intriour ,
Well Alfa's Intriour is really BEAUTIFUL designed!! looks Great and nice sporty!

The Alfa has only 1 - point and that's he have's FWD ,

Hmm, okay, thats good. I was wondering which engine/drive setup the Alfa had. I Though the VW had a 6th gear?! Ah well, I could be just stupid today. Anyway, I think the R32 would lend itself better for tuning (at least in the US, I know there's a ZILLION VW parts available) and :P the Alfa is definitly not coming to the States. What sort of tuning pats are avaible elsehwere for it? I wouldn't know . It also has the AWD which would give it better handling ect and you could safely give more power without insane burnouts like only two wheel drive would give. AWD means better high speed stablility too, which is always a plus. That aside though, I still don't know what the other car looks like, exterior or interior, so I really can't make a judgement on that.

well the design of the GTA's interior is alot better, its more orginal, but the VW's is nailed together better.
So its what you prefer, looks or durability.

there was one advertisment for alfa that said....

"AUDI talks to your Mind ....Alfa talks to your Sense"

the feeling in the alfa is much better i assume ....

I can show you a movie and that's a topgear magazine i thought... were someone drive's in a GTA!!

They said : Alfa turned the quality up!!
And she said : If someone asked me before today( before she drove the GTA ) : who builds the best alrounds sports saloon? i proberly said BMW , but now Is the 156 GTA here with the german quality (durability) and more action and he's looking BEAUTiFUL from every side!!! hehe in 1 word! : BEATEN!!

oh God i'm in love

Oh and she said to : WELL DONE CHAMPS!!
She love the sound of the GTA

and quit danny quit they must know it now

Mallon if you wanna see that movie than speak i've got the URL!

Man, if the Alfa was AWD I'd shoot myself in the head. If I was given the choice, it would be for the GTA and try to make the factory put an AWD system in there Sadly, I'm "stuck" with only having the R32 available to me, and I don't think I really want any other car besides that and an S2000.

I prefer the Golf, because it certainly has better handling with the AWD and because it's German.

(PS: this is my 500th post!!!!!!)
