Default 90's Japanese Sportscoupes.

It's a bit of a weird comparo, but those are all cars I'm looking at.

1. Nissan 300ZX 2+2
222hp 3.0L Dohc V6

2. Toyota MR2 Turbo
200hp 2.0L Turbo'ed Dohc I4

3. Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4
300hp 3.0L Turbo'ed Dohc V6

4. Mitsubishi Eclipse GST
205hp 2.0L Turbo'ed Dohc I4

5. Honda Prelude type SH
200hp 2.2L Dohc I4

6. Honda Civic Si
160hp 1.6L Dohc I4

[EX model shown]
7. Mazda RX-7
255hp 1.3L Turbo'ed Wankel Rotary.

I'm open for other suggestions, but they have to be: $5k-$10k, airbags, atleast 2+2, reliable, sporty. (And yes, I know the MR2 is a 2 seater)

I'd go with either Mitsubishi's. Both look great an perform well. I drive a '95 Eagle Talon (same as the Eclipse) with the non-turbo. I love it. Its quick, handles great and looks stunning. Its a little tight in the back seat but who cares? No-one complains. All of the others start to look dated but my Talon still gets lots of looks. And with the turbo, i'm sure it'd be even better. The GST has AWD doesn't it?

No, the GSX is AWD. The GST is the FWD turbo.

I couldn't care less if it has roomy back seats or not, because, well, I ain't ridin' back there anyways!

I've always liked the 300ZX 2+2 and the MR2. Good price, reliable and fast.

MR2, it's not lame. It's lightweight, RWD, and midengined, plus it has HUUUUGE aftermarket options.

Probably the 300ZX as it's faster than most, and has a bit of potential. You should also consider the 1st gen eclipse, and a Galant VR-4. Awesome sleepers. Maybe a Celica alltrac turbo if you can find one.

the (stock)300zx has more potential compared to others
next is the vr-4
and if u can
try for the 93' z model
it is the fastest compared to all the z models

Ok thanks for clearing that up Kirstyn. Up here they were badged differently. I would still recomend it though. If you're interested in boosting the hp, its pretty easy to attatch a bigger turbo on the Mitsu engine. Who said back seats are for riding in? lol

Stay away from the 3000GT it has horrible reliability and is really heavy. I dunno about the Eclipse. The MR2 is good, very quick, but I've always been a Z fan, so I"m gonna have to say go with the Z.

300zx, it has more power then most of the cars, and, like said above, has qutie a bit of potential.

Because everyone know's the Forza motorsport is so realistic, I decided to give each of these cars (well, the closest thing I could, to them) a run on the Tsukuba Circuit, 3 laps, the best lap time is shown.
'97 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 - 1.05.703
'93 Nissan Fairlady TwinTurbo - 1.05.916
'95 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX - 1.06.778
'93 Mazda RX7 - 1.07.295
'00 Honda Prelude type SH - 1.08.573
'93 Toyota MR2 Turbo - 1.09.218
'00 Honda Civic Si - 1.11.012

MR2, definitly. they look really good, and plus, as Ghalos has said, mid-engined, light. or if not that, my second choice is the 300zx.

Kirstyn, don't go by those figures; there are an inordinate amount of factors that could have influenced the outcome. Thumb fatigue and mind numbness induced by driving 21 laps on the Tsukuba Circuit just to name a couple...
