Although the next Lexus IS350 will be powered by a 3.5L, 300 Horse power motor, it does not yet compare with the M3, having a 0~60 acceleration time of Just under 6 seconds. It’s near competitor should be the 2005 330i featuring BMW’s all-new 3.0L with a significant performance in the engine over the last years model, the new engine is rated at 255 Horses, that’s 85.00 Horses/Liter, Versus the 85.71 Horses/Liter that the Lexus produces. (“”The M3 produces 333 Horses from its 3.2 Liter, that’s 104.06 Horses/Liter””), Besides those impressive numbers however, we should consider Interior and exterior, on my opinion, and on my opinion alone, I will take the BMW’s engine over the Lexus, but considering the interior and exterior I think I will be sold to Lexus. Both extraordinary sedans with uncompromising quality and performance, which ever you choose you, will be a winner. Well, I’m not at the dealer YET, therefore I would love to hear your opinions. Any lexus can never be compared to a M3, no matter what, the M3 is in a completly different leauge!
Having never been a fan of lexus/toyota at-all, i will just say that its is one of the most challanging looking car's of 2005!. The 330i (imo) is far superior to the lexus, with a more attractive badge and a very good (US) standard price ($36.000)+ |

Again, this is not a comparison between the M3 and the IS350.
And no, the 330i is not at ALL "Far Superior" than the Lexus. they are both at the same peek of the top of the line, with the Lexus, believe it or not, far core comfortable and with slightly better build quality according to the reviews by the EVO European magazine and the CAR euro magazine, not according to me, I cannot make such statements since I’ve not driven them yet. |

Hmmm this is tough. Styling wise, I love the new 3-Series. The IS, however, depends on what angle i see it at. Sometimes it looks good, others kinda dopey looking. Makes alot of power, which is always a good thing. However, it doesn't offer a manual, which would be a big turn off for me. Also, I dunno if it can match the 3-Series driving dynamics. If it can, my choice might be different, but for now the 3-Series takes it.

The IS350 is only offered with a "sequential" gearbox; or will only be offered with it. So.. it's probably faster than the 330i; but straight line speed isn't everything, plus, in terms of driving enjoyment, the 330 exceeds it.
So.. It's 330i. I'd only take the IS350; if price was an issue.. you could save some 5 grand with it.

I like the looks of the old lexus IS, this new IS looks quite good and it even looks a bit like the BMW, but me being a BMW fan, the choice is simple; BMW
