Hmmmm. ~AUD$221,000

Ok, 3 things I need in my ($220,000) life.
I'll need a touring car, a luxo-barge, and a wagon.

OK, for my track car, an ex-Perkins Motorsport VX V8 Supercar (complete with 1 year worth of spares/parts)
AUD$100,000
http://cache.viewimages.com/xc/99402...9E9F35A5F0BCB2
^Like that (same shape), only plain white.

Aaaaaaaaaaannnd a HSV Grange
~AUD$85,000 (with options, of course)
http://www.goauto.com.au/mellor/mell...pg?OpenElement

And finally;
SV6 Sportwagon. (M6, naturally)

That comes to about AUD$220,000

I would buy the following.

I would take a Lotus Europa as my personal track day car. This car is really great with great steering. Also i would tune it a bit to be faster on the track. The modifications would be a new exhaust, air filter, chp and suspension. Also i would replace the rims with other ones which are very light.

Then i would take a family car like a Skoda Octavia RS. It's a great family car and it can be really fun. For my family it would be great. Also i would tune it.

For my city rides i would take a Fiat Grande Punto Abarth...

With the other money i would start to make a drift car, just to have fun. I wouldn't spend over 25k for it.

I think that i didn't waste all my money.

The last thing i should know is where to find cheap gas.

$200k = €135k

Alfa Romeo 159 TI Sportwagon - Approx €50k

Either the 3.2 or the 2.4 Diesel. Depends on the amount of KM per year. Probably Q4 for the mountains. Just the perfect family car.

Fiat 500 - Approx €15k

This would be the wife's car, so not really necessary to specify engine etc.

Alfa Romeo Giulia - €15k - €20k

Doesn't really matter what engine. It would be a nice car to work on, and for nice weekend drives. And Italian car meetings. Maybe even a semi-daily driver in the summer.

MV Agusta F4 1000 Senna - €34k :

Yeah, expensive bike, but just look at it!

One of these signs for my driveway:
http://italian-pride.com/xc/image.php?productid=137

€10

Just looking at it, it would really be the perfect garage for me. People could call me a fanboy, or a euro snob, but I'd really love love love love to have these cars on my driveway.

I would buy a used formula atlantic race car, probably a Swift 014 for around 60-70K.

Then I would buy a used Ford GT and whipple supercharge it.

I've been giving this quite a bit of thought. On one hand, I could go with 2 or 3 of expensive cars that are all fast and luxurious. On the other, I could go with several less expensive choices. Or I could take the middle road...

I finally came up with this list of cars I'd seriously consider. When I have time, I'll put up another list with just 3 really nice cars that also appeals to me.

$30,000 - Subaru Forester Sports 2.5 XT Main purpose: trips to the mountains for skiing, biking, hiking, etc. It offers impressive traction on dry summer roads, icy roads, and everything in between. It's also a hoot to drive.

$25,000 - Nissan Frontier Main Purpose: hauling stuff. A family with 200 grand to blow on cars will almost definitely own at least one house. Houses mean maintenance, repairs, and home improvement projects. All those things mean hauling supplies, which is best done with something that I'd be willing to get dirty and scratched without feeling too bad. A small, relatively inexpensive truck, in other words. Some off-roading fun wouldn't be out of the question.

$57,000 - Cadillac STS-V Main Purpose: long road trips. I'm not a big fan of flying these days. Too much hassle with security. I find it much more relaxing to get in the car and drive when going out of town for vacation if I'll be staying more than a week at the final destination. Long road trips can be tiring too though. Which is why I'd want to use a comfortable vehicle with excellent highway cruising performance. The STS-V does that better than just about anything in its price range.

$35,000 - Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X Main Purpose: mix of daily driving and some weekend entertainment. It's evolved all right; evolved into a sedan that's wonderfully fun to drive and not too uncomfortable. It's not as refined as more upscale sports sedans like the BMW 335i and Lexus IS350, but its not as expensive either. It's also less common (a good thing IMO). I'd also look very closely at the 135i, Mazdaspeed 6, G35, and Legacy GT.

$30,000 - Mini Cooper S Main purpose: just for fun. No way I'd have that many cars and nothing to use just as a weekend toy. But I can't image having a family and owning a 2 seater. That would mean that only 1 person gets to ride whenever that car is driven. So I'd choose the next best thing. A fun little 4 seater that loves attacking corners and bringing smiles to faces. A bit tight for the people in the back, but not unreasonably so. Trust me. I'd know having sat there quite often myself. I'd consider the RX-8 as a good alternative.

If it's allowed to save some cash from the 200k for not spending on a car I'll do the following:

1) I'll buy a Honda Jazz (Fit) for a roughly 14000$

2) I'll put a sum of the cash (about 100000$) in a good investment & put the rest of the amount in the safe for the emergencies.

3) Assume that the investment is successful, & guess that the income will be good so someone can get more than 200k

4) After some time you'll have enough money on your hand to buy a car that costs much more than 200k, & for me, I'll spend some time & cash to improve my driving skills & then buy my dream car, the Mclaren F1 (I know it's out of production!!)

5) If my plan above is not allowed & the amount must be spend only on a car, I'll buy a Ferrari F355 & try to customize it to my taste or a E36 M3 & also modify it to my taste, or a F430 & skip the options.
