why do this to a skyline? one of the most famous things about a skyline is the engine, so why not do an ls1 swap into something with a crappy/ crappier than rb26dett engine?

there must be some kind of method behind the madness, so enlighten me

this isnt to say the ls1 is bad, just that it would be pointless for this car to get that treatment

The RB26 weighs nearly twice that of the LS1 and produces up to 130hp less with a narrower powerband.

If anything its a clever swap and would be great if AWD was able to be utilized affectively still.

That LS1 is way superior to the stock engine, first of all its bigger than 2.8L.

I mean the RB is only making like 300 Stock on a TT setup, LS1s are putting out 300-350 easily stock with a fairly mild crank and no port/polish/cylinder/any work what so ever, and naturally aspirated.

so add a TT setup, and how is this a "waste"

Its easily putting down 2.5 times the output of the stock engine, and it has an fantastic power curve, with all that power available at mild RPM's, a great low-end and a smooth power band all the way to the top.

If anything fabricating for the swap would be the worst part.

Plus listen to it, you pull up next to a Supra or RX7 or even a Camaro or Stang: in that thing and there going to be like "WTF".

If Im not mistaken this car is an Australian drift car (so it probably isnt RWD), now it actually has power to spin those tires at 2-3k RPM instead of 5k+.

No joke, that sounded freggin awesome. Gota love the roar of a V8. Anyone know how much power that thing makes, or how fast it is? Either way, I bet it's a lot. Finally, a skyline will get the torque it deserves.

From estimates I read its above 600 for both HP and Torque figures.

But since its designed for drift it was configured for lowend grunt, hence it makes more or less its peak at a lower RPM than usual, but you cant really complain with 600+ @ 3k-4k RPM.

You could easily take the set up higher with little effort.

Id say 800 woudlent break a sweat.

The LS1 + Import isnt really a new concept.

And there appears to be several such Skylines with American engines.

Ok, that's weird.

Sure the motor has a wayyy better powerband and weighs less, but...It's a Skyline, you buy them for the whole package.

Still, I bet that thing rips down a strip at ridiculous speeds.

In another post i read that someone dropped a silvia engine inside a s2000??
I really dont like ruining classics or or modifying cars in their strong part (in this case s2000's engine), I am sure that if u put a veyron engine in an evo it will be fast and power band will be better but...

Actually since the Veyron engine is the size of an evo, and requires 10 radiators and a bunch of cooling ducts just to run.

Id say that would be the slowest evo ever created ever.

And ghalos It probably is pretty fast in the quarter, but it was made for drifting, as a result you would probably need to re-tune it for the quarter as Im sure the gearing and such arent made for it.
