Default NSX gone? Toyota and Mazda go to war!

Ok, read AUTOCAR the other day, the Honda NSX will be phased out next year, but, Toyota will bring back the Suora with a V10 engine, it will be much more of a SuperCar. Also Mazda will launch the RX-7 with a Twin and Quad Turbo 1.5i Wankle engine! What do ya think of that? Looks like GT5 will be good!

I highly doubt both of these claims but a new 13B Comos would be sick

Nope, apparently it has been canned due to the lack of sales.

Anyway, a V10 Supra? Twin and Quad Turbo Rotary? What have the Autocar guys been smoking? This is all wrong. I'll eat my hat if it was true.

I heard a while back that the NSX was being stopped in production because of low sales, this facelift was to be the last apparently, I dont know about the rest of the info given though...

.. The NSX was being phased out to be replaced by another car.. probably the HSC, although, with a different body design. The guy that worked on the new oddessy confirmed it.. and in 2006 (not MY) we should have a new NSX.

About the supra; the volta would be the replacement for it, and the RX.. well, look at that other twin turbo RX-8

Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin – and now Toyota. The Japanese company is to take the supercar world by storm with a new coupé powered by a 4.3-litre V8 or maybe even a new 5.0i V10. And one of the two leaked prototype designs pictured here is believed to be under consideration for launch as early as next year.

It would use the same awesome engine that's currently available in the Lexus GS/LS430 saloons, and offer at least 400bhp. Power would be fed to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox, although engineers are researching a development of the sequential-style system that's fitted to the MR2. This would allow for a gearchange similar to Ferrari's F1-style shift, as seen in the 360 Modena. As well as replacing the Supra – currently in its tenth year of production and still available overseas – the new coupé will mark the firm's arrival in the ultra competitive world of Formula One. It is aimed at boosting the image of the company, which has made no secret of its sporting aspirations with the T Sport-branded Yaris and Celica. Although Japan has a tradition of building wild performance models, these Toyota supercars would be among the most driver-oriented yet.

The Honda NSX and Nissan Skyline have achieved international critical acclaim, but no Far East manufacturer has attempted to rival the legendary marques from Italy and the UK with a production model. It looks like that is about to change.

A MAZDASPEED version of the RX-8 is coming.... It is supercharged. Because of the location of the exhaust ports in the RENESIS rotary engine, it doesn't respond in quite the same way to turbocharging as earlier (RX7) rotaries. The Renesis is a 1.3 litre.

Funny how North American and European Importation of the Supra ended in 1998, and Japanese production/sales ended in 2000. I'd never trust another word that site says again.

i believe that the NSX will return in 2006 most likely, however chances are good that it will not be called the NSX. but it will still be a $70,000-$100,000 2 seater highperformance sportscar from honda. it will probably be built on a highly modified version of the HSC platform, or a totally new platform
