Mazda is introducing a third special edition model of its Mazda RX-8 rotary powered four-door sports coupe. Called the ‘Mazda RX-8 Nemesis’ the latest model builds on the success of the earlier Mazda RX-8 Evolve and Mazda RX-8 PZ. The ‘Nemesis’ features unique paint colors and interior trim, plus an exclusive accessory package, all at the extremely attractive price of £22,995 (on-the-road), £330 less than the model on which it is based – when similarly specified.

Taking the standard 192 bhp version of Mazda RX-8 with leather and a five-speed transmission as its foundation, the Nemesis has several unique exterior and interior features. A choice of two exclusive colors (Copper Red Mica and Stormy Blue Mica) is offered, and each Nemesis comes with a polished aluminum Rotary crest on the front air dam, polished aluminum side air-outlet trims behind the front wheel arches, special B-pillar trims with a Rotary crest and ‘Nemesis’ badging.

Inside, these special edition models feature unique stone leather seat trim, plus Nemesis branded luxury carpet mats and Mazda RX-8 branded aluminum door scuff plates.

Like other standard 192 bhp RX-8s, the Nemesis has front fog lights, heated front seats, electrically-operated driver’s seat, climate control air-conditioning, nine-speaker BOSE premium audio system with 6-CD auto-changer, plus a black leather-wrapped steering wheel, gear knob and hand-brake lever. Every Mazda RX-8 is fitted with six airbags.

The comprehensive active safety package on RX-8 ensures that the Nemesis is equipped with Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Traction Control System (TCS) and a Limited-Slip Differential (LSD).

The revolutionary design of the Mazda RX-8 – with its rare blend of high performance, rotary engine power, sports car dynamics with rear-wheel drive and generous interior space (thanks to the 2700 mm wheelbase and skilful packaging) – make it a truly practical four-seater, four-door sports coupe. The Nemesis has a top speed of 139 mph and accelerates from standstill to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds.

Customer benefits encompass the interior upgrade, free Mica paint (worth £325), plus £620 worth of accessories – at no extra cost. Each Nemesis buyer will also qualify for a complimentary Prodrive experience day to learn how to get maximum enjoyment from their new car, while driving safely and responsibly.

As well as delivering great performance and top value, the Mazda RX-8 Nemesis also brings customers a touch of exclusivity. Just 350 examples (200 in Copper Red and 150 in Stormy Blue) of this special edition will be available in the UK.

The Mazda RX-8 Nemesis is powered by a twin 1.3-litre 192 bhp rotary engine providing Zoom-Zoom performance to complement the stylish look of this special edition. RX-8 Nemesis is set to build on the tremendous success of the Mazda RX-8, voted ‘Best Coupe 2006’ by the influential What Car? magazine for the third consecutive year. Since launch, more than 20,000 RX-8s have been delivered to customers in the UK..

Interior not for me though...

Looks good.
A car that is created for joy...I think its worth the price although its slower than the current RX-8 .

well, its hardly different from a normal RX8 indeed.
That in itself means that Mazda is following the current trent of offering non-special special editions for which the only special part is that they are limited offers only.

People fall for that joke. Odd...

I agree, I don't see the point of paying extra for some shinney paint, chrome badge and nicer interior. Its just a different colour.

Well..it looks great, but it really doesn't justify the extra $$ you have to pay, not to mention it doesn't come in a manual...so that would turn some people off.

I really do like the paint though.

Seems a little pointless to me really, there's already been the PZ version, what are Mazda going to do next?

I would just take a normal RX-8 over this one, and the PZ version, it's a lot cheaper and IMO looks a little better (bar the rims on the PZ) and all you get on this one is basically some spangly badges and a much nicer interior than the original RX-8, but I can live with that.

I'll have the normal one, this one seems like a little bit of a botched job from the Mazda boys, I can see the principal and the intent, but it's not just buying it for me.

As fro now, I'll just have the engine, thank you.

6 airbags is what really scares me off.
And that at the exact moment where I started to like the RX8...

Anyways, I've found some great info on porting renesis type rotary engines.
They are estimated to produce up to 30% more power then the 4 and 6 port 13B's (and burn more of the fuel in the combustion chamber then in the exhaust)

someone wake me up when it get more exciting. i mean dont get me wrong i love the RX-8, everything about it. but having mazda do this and not offer added performance or anything of value except looks...whats the point? most people wouldnt be able to tell it apart from a normal one if it wasnt for the Nemesis badges. id just stick with a stock one.

question, why is it that european RX-8's have 192hp while the US ones have 238hp?
