Arrow Honda Remix Concept

Future CRX or Just a Cool Concept?

Quote:
From Road and Track:
In the music world, a remix is an iconic old song that has been made fresh, young and hip again. Honda’s Remix, which just made its international debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, manages to do the same thing in an automotive context, bringing to mind the lightweight and sporty CRX, a car still missed by enthusiasts worldwide.

Purely a styling exercise, the front-wheel-drive Remix is styled by Ben Davidson of Honda’s Advanced Design Studio in Southern California, a young designer who through no small coincidence likes to spin tunes as a DJ in his spare time. By mixing fluid lines with geometric shapes appearing on nearly every surface of the car, Davidson has crafted a car with a jet-fighter-esque canopy that manages to recall the much-loved CRX yet at the same time be thoroughly modern. As a compact, lightweight, fuel efficient and sporty 3-door hatchback, the Remix will likely appeal to young urban folks with a strong sense of style…but who also need a little bit of practicality in their lives, which is provided by a generous rear storage area. The Remix show car does not have an engine and a transmission at the moment, but Honda says a possible production version likely would be powered by a small displacement 4-cylinder mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The suspension and brakes, we’re told, would be tuned on the track for crisp driving manners.

Although there are no plans to build a production version of the Remix, Honda, like all automotive companies, builds styling exercises each year to gauge public reaction. At the Los Angeles show, and others thereafter, Honda will capture data on the car, and possibly learn that it should build a production version. We feel that Honda will more than likely incorporate some of the Remix’s unique design elements into a sporty new compact 3-door hatchback and call it the CRX. Fans the world over will be delighted.

Wow. That is majorly cool. I, personally, would love to see a brand new CRX rolling off the Honda production line. It's something that needs to be replaced, and I hope this concept is the first to come of many greater things.

The lines look good, everything looks good, even the funky taillights and the rims, overall good job.

It looks pretty good, from the rear at least. It doesn't look like anything that will ever make it into production though, but it would be cool if Honda used the basic design of this for the next CRX.

That looks quite cool. Looks like a sport hatchback...Hopefully it's still got that honda reliablity and low insurance. I say this is a good alternative to small coupes when you need a bigger car

It would be cool to have a new crx. The new concept looks nice (considering it's a concept). Of course you get the weird futuristic styling cues that will never ever make it to production, but you can kind of guess what a production model would look like. I think it has potential. Make it RWD Honda! No more fwd! Take the Mitsubishi Eclipse as your example of how to turn a potentially good performer into a fat slow pig.

Those blue headlights are cool. It looks like a bigger version of the CRX. And the taillights are too "different"

Cool.. the concept is a bit like the GR-1.
I believe in Honda.. they made good cars.
The headlights look like one car that runs on hydrogen..

BTW, it has a cool name, Remix.

EWWW! sorry but im sick of looking at this futuristic stuff i think the world isnt quite ready for somthing this dramatic. It looks way to soft and the rear lights are hideous. The only thing i like is those brembo brakes they are very nice

I don't like the headlights. They are too futuristic, but the tail lights are nice.
I'm not sure if the exhaust is placed at a very good location if the diffuser is functional though. It would likely decrease the pressure.

I like the headlight. Honda doesn't need to come out with something too futuristic like this just yet, some company's need to though, like Lincoln, and i remember Nissan's looks real ratical (sp?) when they were new.

i think a new CRX would be a good move for honda, but this one looks huge! the CRX was a tiny car, this one looks to big.

It's a freaking design excercise! Some of you act like it's close to the final product. They would never come out with a car that looks like this. It's just for the basic lines. Read the article next time .
