Default HKS Hyundai Genesis Coupe: Vegas-bound

Source: AutoBlog
Quote:
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Sept. 3, 2008 – Hyundai Motor America today announced that HKS USA, Inc. will create a high-performance Genesis Coupe for the 2008 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show. The all-new, rear-wheel drive Hyundai model will make its SEMA debut at the Las Vegas Convention Center Nov. 4 – Nov. 7, 2008. HKS, the leading manufacturer of premium performance parts, is the second company to join Hyundai for this year's SEMA show.

"Genesis Coupe has the basic DNA that HKS looks for – an excellent chassis, rear-wheel drive, aggressive styling and a new generation turbo-charged engine. These attributes provide the opportunity for HKS to maximize the Genesis Coupe driving performance capabilities for the serious driving enthusiast," said Rick Lafferty, president, HKS USA, Inc. "HKS is allocating R&D, engineering and prototyping resources to lay the groundwork for HKS-brand Genesis Coupe performance parts. We are looking forward to working with Hyundai to realize the full performance potential of the Genesis Coupe."

The HKS plan for the Genesis Coupe includes a HKS GT Turbo upgrade to maximize horsepower and torque, HKS engine internals, HKS limited-edition turbo exhaust system, HKS Super Mega Flow Intake System, HKS Engine Management and HKS Hipermax III fully-adjustable suspension.

"We've designed Genesis Coupe from the start to be tuner-friendly," said John Krafcik, vice president, Product Development and Strategic Planning, Hyundai Motor America. "Partnering with an industry leader like HKS is a terrific way for us to stretch the performance envelope of Genesis Coupe."

The HKS Genesis Coupe will also showcase functional ground effects designed by Ken Style, HKS Time-Attack cars' aerodynamic partner. The interior will emphasize driver comfort and control with HKS electronics including CAMP2 that monitors up to 24 data signals from the Genesis OBD2 and programmable calculations for fuel costs, average fuel consumption and fuel efficiency in real time.

HYUNDAI GENESIS COUPE HIGHLIGHTS
• Hyundai's first rear-wheel drive sports car
• 306 horsepower (est.) from enhanced 3.8-liter V6 from Genesis sedan
• Standard 212 horsepower (est.) turbocharged, intercooled inline four cylinder
• Genesis Coupe arrives in the spring of 2009 as a 2010 model

I like the bumper, I just don't like the rear bumper and side skirt. They ruin the sleek look of the car by being completely straight, unfortunately. I bet it'll be an awesome car when released though.

Dude, this car is awesome! I can't wait until I can start hating on it when all the Asian fanbois say it's way better than a Mustang. This is gonna be great

Seriously though, this car is actually quite cool. As long as they keep the price down, I think this car could be very buyable.

Will it be $25,000 V6 Camaro buyable though? lol!

kidding aside, It looks pretty cool. I like the bodykit. Now this is a Hyundai I never thought I'd see. I've always liked the Tiburon, but this takes Hyundai to a whole new level. HKS made a good job with the car.

I like the new Hyundai Genesis coupe & would like to see a cabrio version of it.

Rhys Millian is also presenting a version as SEMA & that is my personal tuner job sofar on it but this has a brilliant looking front bumper & the rest of the bodykit looks great aswell.

Infiniti wishes oh so bad that the G35 looked as good as the Genesis.

I agree with Drift...the front end is over the top, but the car overall looks pretty cool. I love the distinctive rear window and the lines that follow and precede it.

When, the Genesis comes out. Is going to shake up the market a bit. I love this coupe. If I could afford it and drive. I would buy one. Man, only if Money was here... He would love this Genesis coupe... This looks much, much better than the G37 IMO. Without the ridculous price tag.

Looks very good to me. With the Genesis Coupe it looks like Hyundai giving us something has all the right parts. let's hope all the parts work and the car makes it.

me like this car, me thinks this car is purty, and quite a performer too (well, this one atleast)...

if they keep the price down, i think it should be a great competitor to the G37, or the Z in terms of looks and amenities, maybe not as much so in performance but if they throw the V8 in there, then maybe it will be a great overall competitor.

my cuzin works at a hyundai/ mitsuibishi dealership and he said that he drove the genesis sedan and was absoluelty shocked as to how cool the car was, in terms of just abt everything, so im guessing this will be the same if not better in MOST ways.

good job slanted H

Oh my...it looks strange. I don't like it. It's a weird mix of everything, with a bit of Hyundai creativity (lol hardly any) in it.
