Default Anyone heard of Asian/Pacific Cars?

All I see here is civic this, focus that. a) the civic is a budget hatchback, get over it. With a lot of tuning they can produce results, however stock, even the Type-R is nothing to rave about (when put in the context of the cars mentioned below). b) the focus is a european car, and isnt as great as some people seem to imagine. it is a step forward for ford, however how about a turbo 4wd version. Subaru have proved it sells. Which brings me to the cars being produced in Asia Pac at the moment. For starters , Australia. Recently released, the new BA Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo. Packing 240kw (326HP) and 450Nm (2000rpm) torque from a 4.0L inline six, weighing 1670kg (3686lbs), it is fairly heavy, however it is only running 6psi from the factory.

Of course, japanese cars are the best value for money in the world. The R34 GTR, Nissan 350Z, Mazda Rx-8, Supra SZ, Lancer Evo 8, Impreza Sti are all attainable cars with supercar performance. These are real cars, worthy of tuning. The Supra's internal can handle 600HP stock, and with minimum mods (exhaust, intercooler, bov and remapped ecu) can produce 200+ KW at the wheels.

How about some discussions on real AsiaPac cars?

For information on hard tuned japanese cars, check out www.exvitermini.com, a site displaying Australian tuned japanese cars, including a 1350BHP GTR, capable of 8.96 1/4's,and a 300Kw (at all four wheels) WRX, with links to TAS 2003 (tokyo auto salon), and various movies, including the 0-300km/h record attempts in japan (13.72 from veilside), the JUN evo drifting at a tuners convention in Germany (awesome), a 300km/h run in a wrx on wet roads in N.Z and other insane car vid's. Well worth a look.

yeh, the supra and gtr are all hella awesome cars, but talking only about civics and focuses doesn't mean we hate them. i for one actually love the supra and gtr more than the civic or focus.

anyway, the point is that nobody's thinking big enough (at least not for now) in this forum. someone has ought to talk about a supra or gtr or z car or whatever pretty soon (it's not like no one in this world has a supra).

Civic and focus are around the £15K
Impreza, Evo and XR6 are all around 30K - twice the price

Thats why they arent always mentioned together

I just wanna say that this forum has lots of room to grow which is a GOOD thing, I don't see why you expect nothing but constant talk about super tuned 'god' cars.

Variety is the spice of life

Oh, I AM a silly American btw, and I don't really know the conversion of Nm of torque and kW to Lbft of torque and Hp. Are there any sites that anyone knows of that would help me in this translation process until I know relatively what each of the stats are equivilant too? Thank you all so much

In the US, there are about 20 other cars like the civic

But I think the civic's the best cuz its reliable and can take down 5.0s with a little nitro
