Default 2009 Subaru Forester joins the Subaru family's new look

Most other details remain a mystery, but look for an official debut in the next few months — possibly at the Detroit auto show

I do not believe this is the official picture, more like an artist's prediction...

I personally like the previous generation Subarus. The newer ones have this "family look" to it, which is a good thing, but I still prefer/miss the previous generation Subarus.....

^That is pretty obvious. Subaru MUST keep their boxer engines. The day they abandon the boxer engine completely will be the end of mankind.....

i kind of like the sketch, but I'd like to see it modeled.

from what I can tell it looks like your typical modern small/midsize suv cross over.

which isn't half bad.

They better not fudge up the new Forester. I think the current one looks just fine. The 2.5 Sports XT is one of the nicest-looking Subarus on the road now IMO. I will be rather pissed if the new Forester ends up looking like a baby Tribeca. That's the only Subaru I can think of that looks straight-up ugly.

More importantly, they BETTER not ruin the Forester's superb driving characteristics. It's the most entertaining small SUV out there right now IMO, and I hope it stays like that. Trying to turn into some kind of luxury vehicle could do more harm than good for sales (definitely harm as far as my money is concerned). All the Forester needs is a little more power in the base engine.

Seriously. I wonder somethimes why companies feel the need to mess with success. There's no reason for a complete redesign. Just add some more power, extra sound-deadening material, an optional anti-roll bar kit to reduce understeer, and better stock tires.

I can live with those looks. Now I'll just have to see what they do with the mechanicals.

The current Forrester to me looks bad-a**. From the spilled magazine images, I'd say the next Forrester looks terrible from the front - which is okay. When Subaru designs a car that is as gorgeous as a DBS, then something is definitely wrong. Besides, in the end of the day, it's the boxer engine that counts.
