Australia has two very awesome vehicles prowling the road, under the guise of 'coupe utilities'. I tend to disagree and argue that they are true sport utilities. Anyone remember the old El Camino and other similar cars in the US? For such a truck loving nation, it makes no sense to me that these products have yet to hit our shores. For GM as a new El Camino, ala Pontiac GTO rebadging and Ford as a new Ranchero. Sure, they could come up with cooler names, but even with the old nameplates, these are wicked road machines

FPV Pursuit
Boss 290 5.4-liter V-8
388hp, 383 lb-ft of torque
5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic
11 paint options! good greif!

HSV Maloo 8
HSV 5.7-liter V-8
384hp, 376 lb-ft of torque
6-speed manual or 4-speed automatic
6 color options, but thats still more than most cars! (like color options matter THAT much)

This is the interior of the Holden Special Vehicle GTS. I can't imagine the Mallo being much different, if at all.

The HSV's front is better, but the back is aweful.
So perhaps I'd choose the FPV, although I would die before I would drive any vehicle of this type.

Put the FPV Pursuit's interior in the HSV Maloo 8, and you'll have a nice car.

Okay, I finally voted. It was for the Ford. I really like both of the cars and their styling very much, but it came down to what it always has. The quality and engineering. Ford is getting more power out of less displacement, just boggles my mind soemtimes. The Styling is slick and powerful. The Holden has a wicked front, but the Ford has a better rear end. The interior of the Holden is nice and sporty, but I'll gow tih the razor sharp,. clean cut interior of the Ford for this time. I shouldn't need to say this, but I'd gladly accept either car. It's picking between them that's so hard :-\

I dont really get these cars. Ok, so they're similar to an el camino.. but its a truck, that has no reason to haul anything.. so why make it a truck? Why not just take a car and have the same powerplant? Well.. maybe this is just me.

they actually are based off car models that have the same engine. It's a style man, you'd have to appreciate the style to really want one. And I really really do

Ahem, based off the *Commodore* and Falcon. The Monaro is based on the Commodore and has two doors ripped off.

Give me the FPV anyday. :)

Here in Australia these cars are called Utes - short for Utility. The design of car was invented here in Aust. by Ford Australia during the 1930's. Both Ford Aust. and Holden produce Utes with different engines and features: Ford: 182kw inline 6, 220kw SOHC V8, 240kw Turbo 6, 260kw DOHC V8 and the Pursuit with a 290kw V8. Holden: ~150kw V6, 235kw v8 and the Maloo featured here.

Utes are really popular here, but the aren't 'trucks'. They are a lot smaller than, say, an F-250.

I kind of like the ford one myself.
