It's pretty ugly, but not only that, Chevy is selling it as a Corvette with a pickup truck bed, which it is obviously not. A Malibu is probably faster.

Well I saw one this weekend at a Chevrolet dealership. It actaully is nice in person.
It has a cool retractable roof. It could use a little more power considering the weight, and $40,000 is a little high. But they are selling pretty good so far....

Admittedly, I don't mind the looks. It's different without being crazy wild. I would like this thing alot more if it was being marketed as a truck, and not some, super cross over innovative blabity blah, whatever. It's a truck and there's no mistaking that when you're driving around in this lunk. I can't imgagine how many other cars I'd get for the 42 thousand dollars they start off with. But wait, "It's sporty! Because it has a V-8!!" Whatever! 300 ponies and 331 pound feet of torque through a 4-speed automatic on a truck rooted 4,700 some odd pound vehicle with soft, heavy steering, a noisey convertible top, and way too bouncy ride doesn't even come within sight of the "Super Sport". So yeah, I agree with everyone else, it's crap on wheels that's way too expensive.

Did I mention how bad the mpg stats were? 'Cause they are aweful! 15-19 mpg, but whenever they test it, they see something more like 14 mpg. that's gotta be embaressing.

Let's just say they're better looking while flying down the road... I saw a red one in downtown Columbus on an interstate, and it's cooler than you would think.

To me...it's a really nice looking car...kinda cross hotrod cross truck.

Yeah, the desigg is very cool, and I really like the idea of a stylish cruiser straight from the factory. I've read road tests and they say that's all it's really good at, cruising. I have seen recent concept scetches of a sorta SSR Wagon that looks equaly fashionable. It would be fun to see people filling the bed with a hydrolic system and hopping these around

I like it but the price is too high and the horse power is too low but it does look good in red.

uck... i'd much rather go for the Dodge Ram SRT-10.
http://www.dodge.com/srt-10/index.html?context=homepage&type=top
its got a 500 hp Viper engine, 6-speed manual, and a really mean looking grille. Not to mention the fact that its still a full-size pickup truck, and about the same price as the SSR. I'd pick this any day over the SSR. Really no comparison.

that Dodge Ram SRT-10 does look impressive, but really, 9mpg. Thats kind of too low, even for a pickup. i do believe in Chevy's "Revolution" , but going with the SSR is a bad thing, i do haev a 1:18 scale of it, but it only looks good at that size. In other words, its better as a little Hot Wheels car than a production car for Chevy.

You need to see this vehicle in person. i did at the Detroit Auto Show and it's absoutely fantastic. Yeah, I still would never buy one, but i can't say it's anyhting less that awesome in the looks department.

I guess I can see how it might be much prettier in person, but its still overpriced and underpowered, in my opinion.

Now out of the two i would rather have the Dodge Ram SRT-10.. :) :)

The SSR is not meant in anyway to compete with the Ram SRT-10. Its a cruising truck. There is a guy nearby my house that has a red SSR with aftermarket wheels and its lowered a little, it looks pretty damn tuff if you ask me.

I saw a commercial for that Dodge Ram SRT-10 for the first time when I was watching the Nascar race yesterday. It is cool, love to own one.

It seems like this car can't decide what it's supposed to be. It's too small to be a truck, too slow to be a sportscar, and its looks are too questionable to be a cruising truck. And when you compare it to the competition, like the Ram SRT-10, it seems like its blown away in every category (except MPG), and for about the same amount of money. If its not supposed to compare to the Ram, what is it supposed to compare to?

Anyone who compares this to a Ram is on cloud 9.
This is a truck to cruise in, its got decent power and it looks
like a old '48 Chevy, its SUPPOSED to look old school....its not a Ram competitor....

Meh. The 'cruiser' category belongs to those with the ability to do build it the themselves, or the interest and scratch to pay someone else with said abilities to build it for them. Suffice it to say that as far as I'm concerned, manufacturers aughta keep their noses out of the 'custom' world. The intent of the SSR is lost because anyone can buy it from the factory.
Not so custom.
It's a pretender to a dream, and a cheap fix (although not $$$ cheap) for those with at best, a mild interest in automotive performance, and a huge interest in personal image.
The sort of thing one might buy in a second world country from a dude with a ramshackled wooden stand in a ditch on the side of the road.
'psssst!.....wanna buy a Rolox?'

I hate this thing. I just think it is the ugliest automobile available right now. I saw a purple one at the Philly Auto show and everyone who walked by commented (negatively) on the styling. The retro trend needs to end somewhere. I hope this is its first failure, besides the Prowler.

The SSR isn't my style, nice specs though (except for the weight). I mean I kinda like it, but I hate it at the same time. The idea reminds me of past relationships.
