Thi would be part 2. I had problem really matching up every American car to a Import competitor. This is because of the larger American sedans like the Dodge Intrpid SXT and Ford Tarus SEL. I these cars are still included merely for comparison, and not to say they are worse for being so heavy. More examples of the engine technology i suppose. All cars have V-6 powerplants, and the price range is 21-32 thousand dollars. These cars are all FWD so they are more evenly matched and whoever had manual transmissions avaiable got them. Automatics are there because manual was not available on the model. Again, take into consideration how well equipped the Japanese cars are and also how much higher they are rated in quality and the price differenes will diminish. Value, pure and simple. Yeah, American cars are cheaper and I just don't mean in price. Notice the transmissions especially. This is what I mean when I say "Japan is way ahead of America" Comprable mass procudtion cars!

Okay, I just realized I should Really Really clarify. Japanese imports are better in the average car range available to the average consumer, like the ones in this and the compact comparison. When I look at car companies, I look at the ENTIRE car line-up. This is, yet another, point I make in the "American vs everybody" debate. I am definitly not arguing that there aren't any good American cars, just that they are the smallest of minorities in the American industry while good-to-awesome cars make up a much geater percentage of Japan and European imports.

Well said. Anyways I choose Japanese again.

I think it's quite funny how only one American cars comes with a 5-speed manual and all the rest are oocked up with 4-speed automatics. I just noticed that! Also that only one japanese car has under 5 gears, hehe.

Again, whoever voted for the American line-up, please explain your insanity!

I'd pick the Mazda 6, not as strong as the Accord or the Altima, but better at twisties and spicy enough, a Mazdaspeed version would be sweet.

I think the next gen us sedans will be good. The 300c will be bigger so it doesnt count, but i think the malibu does well except for engine (and looks, they should have retained vectra looks), the futura will do well since the mondeo and mazda 6 are good cars, (mondeo was the base for mazda 6, mazda updated the pltaform a bit, that will be the futura base, with the new duratec 35 engine and even a cvt available)

you forgot the G35 coupe....

G35 coupe is one really nice car, so is the sedan; the new pontiac grand prix GTP boasted "fastest accelerating in it's class" on ads in magazines; well they seem to have forgotten to invite the G35 to play with them

also, the acura CL-S

And the new Acura TSX, or the new TL is pretty cool, the Grandprix Boneville 4.6 is faster tho

Wow, how did I totally forget the G35? Maybe I thought it cost more than it really does. The Acura TSX is a nice car, but it 'only' has an I-4. The CL Type-S isn't a 2004 car so that's why it isn't in here.
