[size=18][/sizeWhat would you recommend putting under a 95 civic's hood... a B16 turbo OR a B18 non-turbo??

I have no idea, but i'd probaly get the non turbo. It's more orginal. It's cheaper, too i'm guessing. And a turbo charged engine might be a little more finicky. Plus, the turbo might put to much power to the wheels and it might break something.

Yeah I'd also choose the non-turbo. NA engines work better and last longer, IMO.

The turbo is more money + more work, but more power as well. N/A tuning is much easier(on you, your wallet AND the car). Personally I'd go for B16 turbo. I love the sound of blow-off valves  yeah, if you have the money and time, Turbo that sucker!

I think i would chose the turbo one, but if i want the car for a long time, ill take the non turbo

do any you have any actual past knowledge on these two engines? other then tubo sounding cool and non turbo sound not so very cool and becasue its a non turbo it will last longer? i mean come on we can't actually have a valid opinion on this 8unless we actually know the engine specs and what the engines are capable of

So do you know anything about them?

no i don't know anything about these engines thats why i cna't make a clear decisive decesion, do any of you actually know anything about these engines?

I know nothing specific about these but I just made a guess. Are we not allowed to take guesses?

no. I'm just being practical. I'm stating what i think would work better.

hello this is my first post
:D
i had an EK4 civic ecquipped with a b18 non turbo Mugen Tuned..
here in Italy we had like onlyt 8 Honda vehicle with this type of swap, but i know that in the USA this swaps r really used...and the turbo solutions too..
the questions are... do u like a car N/A with like 10000 rpm of power range or a more "normal" car? do u agree that honda for definition MUST be N/A or not?
when u will answer at this questions u will find the solution...
that's true that the best way too gain more power is the turbo solution... BUT HorsePowers are not all...
turbo is cheeper for the result... gain Hp N/A is really hard... ( my EK4 got about 240 HP N/A with A LOOOOOT of work..)
that's all... make your choise and fly! :) :)
hope to be usefull..
cya!

Welcome to the forum Engo!!
Are you from Italy? We are neighbors!! :D
Well I agree that Hondas must be NA... You can't imagine how much I admire Honda for making engines such as the Civic Type-R engine (2lt, 200HP NA) and of course the S2000 engine (2lt, 240HP NA!!).
Redline at 8500rpm and 9000rpm respectively!!!!!!!
Takes a lot of hard engineering to do those things...

the b18 is the stock type R civic Engine so that will run you alot of money here in the states. Plus if you wanted to tune the b18 most efficiently you will practically have to install a new transmission into your civic which is pretty expensive. Anyways the b16 turbo is a great engine and will give you much better performance than the b18. if you decide to get the b16 make sure you get a large enough intercooler to cool it or else it will blow.

its me mr nissan "sr20det" hahahahh ithough i hate honda civics with a passion i say to who ever is gunna get the parts or just for knowledge get the turbo hey its faster and its more reliable remember i hat the civic and im saying something good about it for once so what the hell. ya anyway you could change the psi go faster go slower don no y u woiuld want that but ya also the engine cause of manafactuer reasons the camshaft is weak and could snap so get a good reenforced on by mugen or some good company.

Actually the better engine of the two is the b18c. Mainly because it is a newer engine which utilizes the next gen i-vtec technology better as well. It can put out up to 200 hp. But like I said earlier it is only most efficent when working with 6 gears... which you clearly dont have.

Go with the b18 if you plan on turboing a stock b16 then you may want to invest in some low comp. pistions if not then then the amount of boost you can run is limited because it will blow up. but if you get the b18 you are getting a faster stronger engin and it puts you in a very good spot to build off of.

i want to know what engine you have right now in your civic...
coz i've seen people modifying the B16 to be 1.8L or even 2.0L..
they do it by replacing the 'long block' of the engine which is the lower part..with the long block of the B18 or the 2litre engine from the CRV...
but there's lots of work to be done... all the camshaft and valves etc has to be changed and port polish to be done...
