Depends on how you define 'best'...
Perhaps the Bugatti Veyron...
But if you meant Japanese cars then it's probably the NSX-R.

BEST car? i don't think so...
I think it never will be a sportscar!
Strange topic . btw!
it's seems quite logical to me that you almost couldn't answer this question.....

I can't exactly tell you what i consider to be the best car, there are to many of them and there are to many factors. But i think the best car, has to be an English, Asian, or German car.

in other words not american Venom!
I couldntsay what the best car is either - its too general a question. BUT something like a (the cliche) McLAren F1 or Veyron or Range Rover or Mercedes Brabus S V12 or the Enzo.

i guess it is a odd topic, its something that cant be decided, the 'best car in the world' is too complicated for one topic!

Right now? Audi RS6 Estate
The recipe for the perfect car
ingredients
40-valve twin turbo V-8
World renowned Audi Quattro 4 wheel drive
Recaro sport seats
premium bose sound system
Formla 1 style sequential gearbox
combine in a big, yet stylish european body. Garnish with big wheels and tyres. Finish with a coat of black paint, and serve.
so what if it's $82,000. Perfection comes with a hefty price tag!

i would say the overall best stock production car avaible now is the carrera GT. 0-60 in mid 3's. it puts out over 600 hp and weighs only 3K pounds. plus its a porsche so you know hot it handles and corners

I think you're a bit wrong there.Porsche Carrera GT makes 0-60 at 3.9'' and I saw it from the official Porsche site...See it by yourself:

99 your really wrong there indeed.
If you gonna look at the specs of a car.. the Ferrari Enzo is WAY better than the porsche..only cause it's alot faster on track and accelerates way faster!
So NO porsche... Ferrari :D
Ciao , Danny

While that is Porsche's claim, it is much faster than that. Even the GT2 is faster than that, and the Carrera GT has a power to weight ratio nearly twice as good as the GT2.The Carrera GT probably does 0-60 exactly the same as the Enzo. They have almost exactly the same power to weight ratios. It is also lighter than the Enzo, and therefor should have better braking and handling. Their track times will be very similar, but I think both of them would lose to a Koenigsegg CC.

Yes, you are correct that porsche claims 0-60 in high 3's but as I just received my car and driver magazine yesterday, they did 0-60 in the mid 3's. Porsche underrated the GT's 0-60 time.

I think I'm inclined to agree. The Carerra GT is an awesome car! It really irriatates me when tenths of seconds are argued over because it doesn't really matter in the real world. So what if the Enzo goes 0-60 .3 or .4 seconds fatser? Can you tell the difference when your driving it? I don't think so :P Anywa, it will probably come down to styling between the Enzo and Carerra GT, their performance is too close to have one so much better than the other.
Schumi
Nov 16, 2003, 1:07 PM
Yes, but if their perfomance is too close, have you decide between them by the design??

Nov 17, 2003, 1:07 AM
oh, didn't I say before? I'm totally into the Carerra GT!!! The styling inside is much more comfortable for me as well. Has anyone seen the hard-top pictures yet? looks very cool indeed. I had only seen pictures with the top down till now

You really think so? I bet a Honda NSX-R would beat a Enzo and Carrera GT if it had a similair powered engine!

"IF"...
DarkVenom666
Nov 18, 2003, 3:28 PM
Yes, 'if'... But be honest, the NSX-R would destroy them both.
BTW, i've heard the new NSX-R model will get a V8... Oh man, i can't wait 'till the NSX-R takes the European supercars on!
jimkk29
Nov 18, 2003, 4:22 PM
The NSX-R would destroy alot of cars in a track, yes.
And the new version will have a V6 again, but with more displacement and horsepower.

Nov 19, 2003, 6:06 PM
Oh well, a V6 probably is better anyway... I wonder what it's facts and figures will look like!

I've changed my "the best car" answer from the RS6 to the 3-series. It's won more awards then any other car i know. It is the benchmark for all the cars in it's class. For instance, autoweek had a article in may entitled "best cars of 2003". The 3 series won best coupe, best sedan and best high performance car. The car has had numerous racing victories here and over seas. I don't think anythingcan come close to it's sales sucess in it's class. And unlike the rest of the BMW line (sans the X5), the 3-series has yet to be touched by the infamous Chris Bangle. Therefore, it remains one of the best styled cars in the world. And The 6 cylinder has won many awards and accolades for it's silky smootness and realiability, not to mention it's amazing power in M3 guise.

The 3-series hasn't been touched by Chris Bangle yet. So far, he's ruined all the cars he's designed, and BMW. I do like the Z4, but I'm not sure whether it's better than the Z3.
