You told that because Ford produce that engine with 2.0lt and 170 hp and Fiat did that on 2.4lt with 174 hp right?Let's the torque of these cars huh???Fiat has 221Nm of torque and Ford has 190Nm of torque. If you want to see on your own go here for the Stilo:http://www.lequotidienauto.com/mag/011022/stilo_abarth/default.asp
and here for the Focus:http://www.mondom.com/auto/novita/ford/focusst170rs.html.The torque plays a bigger role for me!

the fiat has a better engine, but thats all.
I prefer the focus iin everything else. It looks alot better and being a focus it has brilliant handling.
I think Fiat should have done something proper outragious with the Arbath name - like 280BHP :D

I saw somewhere that they are constructing a new engine for the Stilo with more power and more torque.Imagine.They said if not they will add hte GTA engine in the Stilo.
Then we will have a 250 bhp Stilo!Good at both ways!

Ok then, the Focus is better at everything except the torque. :P

I don't think so.
ACCELERATION:
Fiat Stilo Abarth:(0-100km/h,0-62mph):7,9''
Ford Focus ST170:(same):8,3''

ST170 can pull 7.2 all day long, and it's brakes are awesome, and handling is mint, the engine revs ala V-Tec smooth and at high rpm is more powerful than the Stylo, also the double mass getrag tranny is great

ST170, the engine revs ala V-Tec
r u sure the ST170 has a VTEC engine?

WRONG.
Focus: 8.2"
Stilo: 8.5"
Check a magazine.
r u sure the ST170 has a VTEC engine?
It doesn't, but it can rev almost that high. It gets 170PS / 7000 rpm from 2lt (NA, if I'm not mistaken), so I guess the redline would be somewhere between 7500 rpm and 8000 rpm.

the good thing about a VTEC engine is not how high it can rev... Its what it does at high revs or low revs - i.e. changing the timings of the valves openings/closings.

Yeah,I think that it depends on the driver in these cars.I saw these accelerations in a site.Informations are different on different sources...In these cars I think that the driver makes the difference!

yeah your right about that!
- driver status
- weather conditions
wet track , dry track , HOt track , cold track
Tyres , did they use traction controll or not?
SO MANY THINGS!!
So somewere it's logical the results are diffrent!!

Agreed. I don't know if this Focus has a variable valve timing system, but all Honda VTEC engines can rev very high, so that's why I mentioned it.

Did you know that Alfa Romeo discovered first the now Toyota's VVT-i.They discovered it first before Toyota and Nissan take it.I saw it in a Greek magazine.Dunno if its true but the magazine wrote it!

Huh.........there is not such thing as discovery, is just a development, and it's no rocket science, that technology is not new, it was just too expensive before

I'm positive that it's not true. I believe that the first company ever that created the variable valve timing system was Honda, with the i-VTEC system. That was lots of years ago.

Booo Ford. It's looks okay, but its not that much diffrent looking than a normal Focus. IMO this is kinda laaaame
The Fiat looks really cool. An almost perfect hatchback. There a picture of a customized one put up by Alfa in the General forum that looks somehow even better.

Yes,the magazine say that the first company that developed(sorry for the other word) the VVT-i was Alfa Romeo and they called it ViVT.Then Mercedes developed it more and then Japanese took and developed it as we all know now!
