The only TVR i really, really like is the Speed 12. Now that's a car! As for other TVR's, they are average for sportscars. I judge myself to be a small fan :) .

it shocks me that someone could call a 0-60 in 4 seconds, less than £50K Cerbera OR a 40K Tuscan S Average!
A Mazda MX-5 is average, or a MR2, but not a TVR IMO.

TVR rocks! Not only are all of their cars gorgeous, they're about the lighest you'll find anywhere! It amazes me how some car companies build overweight sportscars which need 500hp to produce acceleration times anywhere near a TVR's. Oh, and another thing, a car that weighs 3500lbs.+ can never be as nimble and responsive as a TVR (as far as I know, they're all under 2500lbs.). Now I know TVR's aren't exactly packed with amenities (and hence weight), but they're stylish and fast... and pretty reasonable in price too.
Sorry McLaren F1 LM, TVR's aren't available in North America, well... unless you have a whole lot of money and can import one like John Travolta in "Swordfish"... right hand drive of course... and it's probably illegal here as far as crash test standards and stuff anyways. Although, I did hear somewhere TVR had plans to sell their cars in North America eventually... who knows?

Sorry, i didn't explain it like i should. Normally, i judge cars by their looks and peformance combined, but i only judged the TVR's by their looks this time. And according to their looks, for a supercar, i find them average. I mean, they are good looking, but not very special. As i said before, the Speed 12 is the only TVR i'm amazed about. Not any other.

well i guess thats expected that not everyone likes TVR's. Their styling is extreme (cant think of a better word) and it doesnt agree with some people. Personally I love it, and hope TVR keep doing the same as they have been doing - making High BHP FR cars without any driver aids (odd exception)

Don't get me wrong, i like TVR's. I didn't said i don't like them. And their styling is extreme indeed, but that's just good for the cars, to be different from the rest.

Big fan here! Sadly, we don't have them here, and not many people know them, so I don't know many things about their models.
There was a TVR Griffith sometime, if I'm not mistaken?
DarkVenom666
Aug 12, 2003, 6:53 PM
I think the Griffith is one of TVR's less good looking cars.
Jeej! I noticed the 2 stars i now have  .

TVRs are very cool! I say I'm a small fan merely because I don't KNOW a whole helluva lot aobut them. I love thier design and whole formula for engineering. They all look exceptional. If you think a Dodge Viper looks awesome, then TVRs should blow your mind. Does anyone have a link to an official website o one with pictures and stats? Thank you much!

Well, first of all TVR is an english car maker so, why is this topic in the Asia & Pacific Cars section?
I´m not really a big TVR fan but I do like the brand. My favorite TVR is the Tuscan, with that trustworthy in-line 6 engine. The second in my list is the Cerbera. There's also a Le Mans version of this last one.
I don´t like very much the Speed 12. Way too pretentious (807 HP!) but I have to recognize that it has an unique style.

Sep 07, 2003, 7:06 PM
someone who thinks that has to be only into American cars!
Ask any europena and theyll love TVR's.
And of course they're are faster cars than TVR's. but TVRs are about more than speed in a straight line.

well, speed does not automatically mean going fast in a straight line as you put it, And you know what this may sound funny but most european cars are horibbly built, Cars like BMW Mercedes and other high end luxury companies don't count, they are not main streem like crappy european companies such as Fiat, Yugo, Seat, Opel,Renault and many others. American cars are actually better built then cars from those crappy car companies mentioned, why? Becasue we have higher standards for cars over here. Most cars over here have things like ABS, and get this (your probebly in shock at this) 98% of all cars sold in North Ameirca have Air Conditioning Standard
Ask any europena and theyll love TVR's.
i guess some of you guys have really bad taste
jimkk29
Sep 09, 2003, 6:25 PM
You're obviously inadequately informed here. Almost all cars here are sold with ABS and air-conditioning. And you'd be surprised at the quality of Opel. Americans have some really nice models but Europeans make overall better cars. Learn to live with it.
Thlam
Sep 09, 2003, 7:26 PM
Face it North American cars are better equiped, so why don't you take your non-airbag equipped car and drive it off a cliff. :  , most cars in europe are sold wiht abs and airconditioning but is it standard no and is a car that can barely survive a minor fender bender really that good i don't think so

American guyz...Give me a break.Someone told that only Mercedes and BMW real counts? And the other European companies like FIAT,Renault and Opel are craps?
OK.Americans really know about cars...Well I tell that Dodge and Shelby are craps also.Is it true? No.I am telling that because I don't know these cars...You did that already.
You don't know these cars like FIAT's and Renault's.That's why you told that.

what are you talkng about? I was just asking if someone had alot of info on the Cerbera Speed 12. Thats all. I never said all other european companies are crap or anything. I like renault. I liked the R5, and i currently like the Clio V-6 and The Cliosport 172.

i have personally rented these vehicles while on vactions in europe so thats how i know they are crap. I have friends that have rented these cars on european vacations and they say its crap. Compared with the low end models we get over here european cars are not on par wiht the likes of the morbid chevrolet cavlier or the Dodge neon. And you want to know why BMW and MErcedes don't count...because they are luxury cars all luxury cars are built to higher standards then any other car

id didnt think id hear something so silly from you!
YOu say americans ahvae higher car standards? - that isnt true, americans have a much higher perentage or 2nd/3rd and so forth hand cars than any developed European country. Also, how many american cars are sold in europe, as opposed to the number of european cars sold in america?
Lastly, judging all european car standards on TVR is silly. TVR make the point of having no e.g. ABS for a reason, for it to be an undiluted sports car - with NO driver aids.
