but it will be extremly exprnsive !!!
i dont remmber the site's address,,,
but try looking in rsportscars tuners ... near gear stuff ... if im not wrong its one of those links ....

you can - the Aston Martin Vanquich in the James Bond Film that was shot in Iceland had 4WD + a Mustang Engine to help with traction in the Ice.

Anyway, in really simple terms I think you have to rotate the engine 90 degrees, so that you can attach a 2 drivetrains for the front and rear wheels.

imprissive .... nice info bro :)

No, you wouldn't need to rotate the engine...
All you gotta do is modify the front differential in order to add an axis that transfers a portion of the torque to the rear wheels, along with a rear differential and (optionally) a central differential. Then you will have 4WD. However, it shouldn't be as easy as you think. It would also be expensive, and would require a very specialised tuner, which would be hard to find.

no you wouldnt HAVE to - but that is a method of doing that.

All the Modern Rally cars, are AWD, but the systems are really complex, the technology of WRC cars is at the same scale as the F1 cars, the engines are transversely mounted (i dont know the subaru), with 3 differentials i think, dinamic torque control and a hell lot more things.

interesting... WRC has progressed alot in recent years and the cars are, like all motorsport, technologically advanced, but you could never say that the same R&D goes into WRC. Even looking underneath the WRC, it shares alot more with common cars than an F1 car! IMO.

Yes I agree... technology in F1 is really beyond any other motorsport.

Yes I agree... technology in F1 is really beyond any other motorsport. Yes it is, but the second is WRC, and in some cases WRC is a higher step, cars are designed for different tasks, so you would never see an F1 car able to run in the conditions present at WRC, but WRC cars car lap on track pretty good, sure acceleration and top speed is not the same, nor does downforce, but the car is able to lap. WRC conditions are too extreme even if F1 cars are running at 12000+ rpm all day long.

To each it's own

thats true, a WRC car can go round a track better than an F1 car can go down a rally track - but that is versatility, something that doesnt decide the level of technology.

Yeah buddy! There's a Canadian company that willswap out the tranny of a Beetle, golf, or GTi with the Audi quattro tranny! Too cool!

But too bad they have to have metal parts on the car (instead of c/b).....
If it did have c/b, then you would have to replace it every race :D :D :D

I guess WRC cars are ment to be tough and reliable in any road condition....

im really into fourwheelin and i have seen quite a few rwd cars made into 4wd w/ front axle swaps and a transfer case brought in....though it is extremely hard to do and takes a very long time to find the parts. i dunno much about fwd and transaxles and whatnot. wouldnt you have to bring in a center diff? id appreciate it if someone could explain in detail how you would swap fwd for awd, if it is possible.
