My roomate has this picture of an AWESOME looking Plum Crazy Prurple Dodge Charger R/T. I think that picture alone hrenewed my respect for Muslce cars. I don't know what it's packing under the hood, but I'm very sure its quite sexy sounding and hauls arse like all good muslce cars do. Gives you the pleasure when you drive it

Well, ok... I like some muscle cars, but nothing can be compared to a good European fast car! It's all about feeling.

I love muscle cars. My all time fave are all Vipers, but in the 'real' muscle car category, that has to be the '71 Dodge Challenger Hemi RT. My #2 is the '71 Plymouth 'Cuda Hemi RT. I consider muscle cars to be the most beautifull vehicles ever existed :) .

McLaren F1 LM

im not crazy about the charger it's not very nice :D

DarkVenom666
Aug 11, 2003, 12:54 PM
I think the Charger is a great car as well. I saw a couple of them on a muscle car festival, they were beautifull. There was a Gerenal Lee Charger as well :) . I think the Charger's on the fourth place when we're talking about muscle cars.... Just my opinion  .

Aug 11, 2003, 7:33 PM
I agrea that Vipers look nice and are great to but the Ultimant Muscle Car is the Ford Boss

The Ford Mustang Boss? Neh, not for me. I even think it's ugly. Sorry.

Dutchmarshall
Aug 12, 2003, 5:37 AM
Maybe its not for you, but its the best muscle car there is from 0 to 160kmph back to 0 in less then 5 seconds(i dont know it axcaclty anymore, somthing whit 4 seconds)
but that is cool for a muscle car, isn't it?

I know the Mustang Boss is a great accelerator, like most muscle cars are. But that doesn't mean it makes it the greatest. Don't judge cars only by their performance; Looks are important too.

Dutchmarshall
Aug 12, 2003, 10:33 AM
Yeah, but the Ford Boss Looks great to, and muscle cars are mostly for perfomence:P

Well, i guess they are called muscle cars for a reason  .

Dutchmarshall
Aug 12, 2003, 5:57 PM
 , but ur only talking about the looks of a muscle car, that is importent on sports cars, not on muscle cars

DarkVenom666
Aug 12, 2003, 6:21 PM
Why aren't looks important to a muscle car :? ?

Dutchmarshall
Aug 12, 2003, 6:31 PM
cause, the looks wont deside how fast the car goes, and how much horsepower it has

DarkVenom666
Aug 12, 2003, 6:33 PM
That's kind of obvious ( but then it also wouldn't be important on supercars. ).... But looks are important on every car, no matter what class, marquee, or anything else.

Dutchmarshall
Aug 13, 2003, 7:23 AM
and why does does cars from asia always look so ugly?

McLaren F1 LM
Aug 13, 2003, 7:34 AM
what the hell are you taljking about what about the s2000 or the skyline dude asian cars kickass :D

Dutchmarshall
Aug 13, 2003, 7:39 AM

DarkVenom666
Aug 13, 2003, 8:01 AM
I don't think all Asian cars look like crap. Maybe the normal city cars, yes. But the sportscars like the Skyline, RX-7, Evo, Impreza, 3000GT VR-4, etc. They all look quite good ( and perform very, very good in proporsion to other cars. )

jimkk29
Aug 13, 2003, 10:01 AM
Yes, they do. You also forgot the NSX-R, S2000, RX-8, 350Z and some others that really rock.

McLaren F1 LM
Aug 13, 2003, 10:03 AM

Nine outta ten Muscle cars of the Americas are very sexy in the most classic of ways. After a while though, looking at them, they tend to blur together, having all incredibly similar characteristics and proportions. Ah well, such is life....er something. Im really worn out from work, hehe

Nope, GM got the rights for the whole movie, all the cars come from GM, you even see pontiac minivans there and Tahoes flying in the air.

It's a Pontiac Firebird i think, i see pontiac in the rear of the car when i play enter the matrix, but i dont know the year

Please, I love muscle cars. These cars are the pure definition of the american sports cars. :D My favorite is the '71 Dodge Charger with that big, BIG 440 V8 engine.
I also drool for the Plymouth Barracuda, the Shelby GT500 and the Plymouth Superbird.
And of course, I love the Viper, the modern muscle car.

FR500

The coolest muscle car of all time is probebly the plymouth superbird
it had a wing larger then 10 modified civics combined

Mopar68
Sep 05, 2003, 10:25 PM
yeah, but unlike the civics, that wing actually perfoms a function.

Any way, I don't think any muscle car is ugly. Sure, some of them are all boxy and plain, but thats no what makes them muscle cars. A Charger R/T or a Torino Talledaga wouldn't be muscle cars if they had four cylinders.

My favorite muscle car would have to be the '68 Dodge Coronet R/T. Please don't make me explain why. If you really want to know, email me at jrlipe@comcast.net, and i'll gladly tell you.

Two things erk me in this post. first one is the use of the word muscle car for cars such as camaros and mustangs. Nope, these are pony cars. Mini versions of muscle cars. Muscle cars are huge. Any dodge charger is about the size of a lincon towncar. Second, the people making comments on how muscle cars (and american cars in general) are inferior due to there slow pace, terrible gas milege and crummy handling. I like to think of this as the harley-davidson syndrome. Harleys are very slow, big, outdated, expensive and they vibrate so much, you go to the bathroom every 10 minutes when riding one. But, people still pay ridulous prices for these bikes, when they could easily buy a much faster and better made japenese superbike for a fraction of the price. Why? They are loud, powerful, american and, most important of all, you ALWAYS look cool riding one. Same deal with muscle cars. You could probaly buy a brand new Mitsubishi Evo for the price of a fully restored challenger or Charger, and beat the crap out of both of them. But you will Never, Ever look as cool riding in an evo than riding in a gleaming, loud black-with-white-bumble bee-striped '68 Charger R/T. At least in america.

Sep 06, 2003, 10:03 AM
yeah very well put people buy cars because they love em and because of great marketing like the Shelby GT500 it only tops 140-50 but people still love it, i love it too

when i look at the car, it does not give me the pleasure. It's not very pretty. Yeah, i know "strange choice of words", but that just goes to show how unwilling we are to accept the broad spectrum of meanings for diffrent words. Our language is so bastardized anymore, damn media

I don't care bout who's look better or whatever, muscle cars are about passion, point blank. You like them or not. For me, the muscle cars means power, beauty and freedom.
And the sound of a powerful V8...sorry boys, but no asian, or even european car of today have that..but this is just my opinion, a true muscle car lover.
My favorites are: the 70' Chevelle SS 454, Pontiac Firebird Trans Am '73, Hemi Challenger R/T '71, Shelby GT-500 KR '68 and the Plymouth Road Runner '72 and the Fabulous Camaro Yenko '69.
here in Brasil we have a few muscle cars too like the Dodge Charger R/T (really a derivation of the 68' Dodge Dart), the Ford Maverick GT and the Chevrolet Opala, GREAT cars too, but not with the same power of the american cars, but I got love these brasilian muscle the same way!

Nov 13, 2003, 1:43 AM
thats exactly what kinda erks me. people saying "I'm a true msucle car fan" or whatever, like they are better than everyone else. I swear.... Even if thats not what they mean, that's how it comes off. Everyone has different standards and you should apply them to other people like that, as if yours are whats right or wrong. Especially with something as superficial as cars. this is the root of the violently hateful "anti-rice" websites.. Sorry, I have a fever and my brains on fire

Black Impala
Nov 13, 2003, 11:36 PM
Man, this site is about cars, right? I love muscle cars, but it's not like I would hate or even dislike someone who doesn't or whateva. I only prefer a Chevelle SS or a classic Camaro over a Toyota Supra or a Skyline, there not wrong with that! Like I said this is about passion or preference, if you prefer, and I only expressing that.

Peace

Totally right. For example, look at the Hemi engines. It's an exclusive patrimony of Chrysler american group. In the muscle car era, the V8 engine suffered lots of modifications and every american company had its own interpretation. 'Magnum', 'Six Pack', 'Hemi" were different developments of the same base.
By the way, what a cool Ford you posted there FR500. A modern Mustang interpretation thanks to Ford Racing boys.

However, this is weird:

European sports car are very fun and exhilerating and fun, luzurious...the list goes on...but one thing about classic american muscle is how unique it is. Those cars had souls...not CPUs and PCUs and porsche suspension management or bi-xenon headlights...they were as unique as the owner...imo. My favorite would haftah be the old c2 corvettes. Corvettes, imo, havent really ever been true muscle cars before or since...until maybe now...but they are now more like european sports cars.

I agree with most of what you are saying, to be a true muscle car it had to have a big block in my opinion.
