The story says all really.
Lotus are looking to build a new GT and launch it in 2008, followed by the long awaited esprit

Thank god. It gives them time to review the design of the Esprit, which I found distasteful and not in line with the previous generations.

Should be interesting, we haven't seen much new from Lotus since they played with the Elise.

Interesting.

Are you referring to the model that appeared in the '80s? I found that model to extremely pleasing to look at.

No no no, quite the opposite. I really like the old design, but a few months back Lotus released some concept designs, which is what I was refering to,

both the "Project Eagle" and new Esprit prototype are sat next to each other in the design studio at Lotus... (but im not telling you anymore!)

First customer "eagle's" wont be released until 2009, only dealer demos at the back end of next year. Rumours have it there will be a show teaser (half covered maybe?) of the car at Geneva 2008

should be good to finally get the car in the showrooms, all the different versions available will make for a brilliant addition to the range :)

I see some Ford GT in that. Looks alright, should be a good rival to the Noble M15. But a Toyota V6? Hmm....

its being marketed as a Lexus V6 (if that helps at all!), and that sketch is not from Lotus, Autocar did that themselves, how they think it will look from various previews they will have seen.

Looks promising, it better be good for that price tag. :) Hopefully it will take some deisgn cues from the older Espirits, like the 90s ones, they will look pretty great.

I think that first concept that came out was a pretty good design.

^ That's not the concept I saw?... I saw one with lots of curves, almost like a merge between the Esprit and the Elise, but very badly done. I wish I could find an image!

i just hope the GT wont be just a road car with no track potential. but i truly look foreward to the esprit which got to be a true track car, i mean for that price tag...
