Well i figure as this site grows and more bmw owners come there will be questions about european ellipsoid headlights and which ones to buy, so i thought id do a little write up! So where to start!! The Us spec headlights suck, plain and simple, they are weak, and under powered. They do not project the light they just merely reflect it onto the road. Also the stock ones are know for fogging up. The alternative is european-ellipsoids. they are not cheap specially if you want them with dde or angel eyes. but the basic headlight is, (for depots, good quality but not oe) about 400$ if you want oe and the best you have to go with zkw these run about 550+ without dde, which is why most people buy these headlights. Me on the other hand like the retrofit HID conversion kit www.autowerks.com sells that makes your headlights bright as hell, and forget about the angel eyes. Also you can buy the headlights with dde (daylight demon eyes) already installed for about 100-150$ more or you can install them yourself.
