Sao Paulo
In 1938 a huge plot of land was bought in Sao Paulo by two local property developers who intended to build a large housing development. It soon became clear, however, that one part of the land was not suitable for housing and so they decided to build a racing circuit instead. Sao Paulo grew at an incredible speed though and soon the circuit was surrounded by houses.
When, in the 1970s, Emerson Fittipaldi began to have international success, the Brazilians started to want a Grand Prix. In 1971 and 1972 Interlagos hosted non-championship events but in 1973 the track hosted its first championship Grand Prix. The track became a lucky charm for local racers, Fittipaldi, Carlos Pace and Carlos Reutemann all taking the spoils of victory in the 1970s. Interlagos was the scene of Pace's first and only Formula One victory, and following his death in a plane crash the circuit was renamed in his honour.
In 1978 the grand prix moved to Rio, but in 1979 Interlagos got its race back. By 1981 however Rio had retaken the Grand Prix, Sao Paulo's slums being at odds with the glamorous image Formula One wanted to portray. When a $15m redevelopment programme was agreed in the heyday of Ayrton Senna, a Sao Paulo local, the race finally moved back to Interlagos.
And there it has stayed. Since Senna's death there may have been no Brazilian world champion, but the passion of the Brazilian fans keeps the sport coming back every year.

Two words:
GO KIMI !!!!
He has been knocking on the door for a couple of years now and after 'the wonder kid' had some bad luck (for once !) this weekend he has given Kimi a real chance to win the Championship.

I 100% agree with you !
After all, before the season started which driver was likely to win the championship other than Alonso ????
Kimi Raikkonen
So yeah he is well overdue a championship and has my custom user title says: 2007 = Kimi's year !

Dang wish I can watch the final race somehow, but I'm going for team Ferrari. Although Lewis Hamilton seems like he is doing good.
This should be great.

Since weather has played a huge role in flipping around the grid during qualifying and even more so in the actual race, it might continue on. From what I've found; this month has the 5th highest average amount of rainfall out of the year for the city of Sao Paulo. Fingers crossed that it doesn't rain that weekend and the sun is the only thing in the sky. Personally I would be very happy to see a bone dry track and have everyone slug it out for pole and the win. Hopefully either Hamilton or the "Ice Man" can claim the championship . I want to see Alonso cry/whine about how "his" championship win was '"stolen" from him.

Even if Kimi gets first, and Hamilton retires from the race. If Alonso comes second, he would be short a point.

^^^ yeah but massa is good in that track, its his home track, so i think that if kimi manages a first place for sure massa will get a second, alonso 3rd. And then all thats missing is for Hamilton to crash or something, maybe Sato should just take him out that would be good.

Silverstone was Button's home country. It's not like he ended up top 5 now did he. Future is not written, history is.

I predict that Massa wins, Raikkonen becomes second. Then Alonso finishes in fourth, and Hamilton really struggling, but ends up 8th.
Anyone following this why? Indeed, all three would have 108 points when they finish like this. :p And then Raikkonen would be champion because of his 5 wins.

Yeah the above post is kinda difficult but for me it would be the best final result :P
Although it is still very difficult for Kimi to take the championship, I want to thank and congratulate him for this year. He is indeed one of the best drivers around and he did whatever he could do.
Alonso said that its impossible for him to take the championship in the final round in Interlagos, except if Lewis DNF. :P
He said that yesterday in the press conference after the race.

I'm sure you all know my prediction,
Massa of course.
I don't think he will let anyone take his home victory away from him, no way no how.
He was dominant here last year, he grew up in sau Paulo for petes sake, he will dominant here all over again

Maybe he will do an Alonso and try desperately to win his home race and make a hash of it like he did in Spain.
Its all to play for, i dont want to predict this one, its far too close and too nervewracking for me!
If Lewis-unfathomably incredible legend-Hamilton wins, i will die of a concoction of pleasure and relief.
If Fernando-cheating arrogant ungreatfull-Alonso wins, i will probably throw something very heavy at the T.V.
If Kimi-red as beetroot monotone voice iceman-Raikkonen wins, I will be dissapointed, but still happy for him.
Its anyones championship.

Kimi has a monotone voice because:
1) English isn't his first language unlike Hamilton.
2) He's Finnish have you heard Finnish people talk Suomi (Is it ????) they all sound like that !
Your just a Hamilton Fanboy so you would say that lol !

odd situation there. See if we were considered british half northern Ireland (catholics) would blow up the other half (protestants) and if were considered Irish it would be the other way around, with a pile of polish people murdered in the crossfire.
So as you can guess, we are allowed a chioce between 2 passports, in other words we decide wether we're brits or drunks.
Basically we take whichever is cheaper. So Irish.
But its way more fun when you get someone like Adam Carrol who is from Northern Ireland. You can actually claim your from the same place without pretending to be british or irish.
Plus i found that i might be related to Adam Carrol, my Granny used to be called Carrol, and he lives like 10 minutes from my house

Personally, I don't see what people are on about. Throughout the season, people have sub conciously realised that Hamilton is, and should be the top dog this season.
He has quintissentially went out, and in one season, and shown the supposed best drivers in the world whose boss ?
A lot of you are sayin Hamilton is just "Good". I'm fine with saying that to be honest, because, as a lot of us say, this is his first season. The only thing he can do is get better, which says to me, when he does achieve greatness on the track, by god, I want schuey back for some hell. Bring Senna back from the dead too, we'll have motorsport porn.
How many times have we seen Nemphis and the like say, "I hope Lewis has a DNF ?" Why does he want him to DNF ? Because on the percentage of tracks, Kimi, Alonso, Massa, simply cannot beat him.
Hamilton deserves this title as he has been the best driver, simple as that. Now, you can all have your own opinion on that, but Hamilton has been one of the most consistent drivers possibly ever. I mean what is it, 3 races without a podium ? Who else boasts that kinda record ? Maybe Schui, with his magnificent driving, and Senna/Prost, when there car was literally unbeatable.
You still have to remember he is in his first season. You can bang on about how he has the best car, lucky, all you like, he was the best driver this season. We may not have seen him do any back of the field specials yet (Nurburgring was a taster) but it isn't as if he hasn't overtaken people this season. Somebody get the stats on overtaking for the end of the season. I'll bet you all a £10 hes high up.
For the race, God it's gona be good. I'm hoping it's a bitching three way super battle, ala Kubica/Massa on the last lap. Except I want that for 71 laps. I'd record it and use it as a stimulant for when I'm married with children.
I fear I've said too much.
But still, this race could be the epitome of what this season is about. It's pure madness, it's pure racing, and it's put the fire back in the belly of many a fan, me included.
Who do I want to win ? Alonso. With Hamilton second. Watch the smug spaniard writhe in pain, as we watch Hamilton be mint. Then I want to watch the champagne fight. Except it'll soon be a bottle fight won't it. Be interesting to see what Kimi would do......which one would he stick up for ? Would he stick up for either ? Would Massa appear and beat the crap out of all of them on home turf ? So many questions, so long to wait, and again, William is at work. No speed cameras on the root home though. :p

I get the feeling you think I hate Hamilton I don't, I think he his good but no more special than someone like Liuzzi and you can't really say 'ofcourse Hamilton is better than Liuzzi' because look at the performance difference in the cars. That brings me onto another thing would Hamilton have 80% of the British public up his ass if he drove a Toro Rosso ????
No he wouldn't thats why he his doing 'great' because at the end of the day if you can't get one of the fastest and reliable cars in F1 today on the podium you shouldn't really be in F1.
Take Coulthard for example he would be doing 'great' if he was driving a McLaren wouldn't he ???? but because he drives a Red Bull he races in the midfield and for the last couple of points does that make him a crap driver compared to Hamilton ????

I want Kubica or Heidfeld to finish 1st. Haha. That would be amazing. Then Kimi, Vettel, Alonso, Coulthard, HAmi. That would be insane. I want to see for one time a BMW in the 1st place.
As i said to my another post i want to see Kimi, Hami and Alonso very close fighting for the 1st place.

Of course he wouldn't have 80% of the public behind him. I'd like to wager it would still be over half though. It's a shame that he didn't start in a lowly team and work up, because then quite frankly, it would stop the bickering. Based on the fact that he's had the chance to step into the best Mclaren Car in years, makes him just another standard racing driver ? I think not. Say someone like, Yamamoto stepped into the Mclaren. Could he get it round a track as fast as Hamilton. Of course not. How about the other top 3 drivers ? Possibly Yes. But they don't seem to do it with such finesse, and as consistently as Hamilton does.
As I remember, David Coulthard use to drive a Mclaren for a living. That season was schuey and mika going at it. Was Coulthard even in contention ? It was the 2000 season, and in a similar place now to Massa. I'm not saying anyone in that field is a bad driver, far from it, they are the best, that's why they drive there. The same stands to reason for Hamilton. He is the best, he drives for supposedly the best team. It's how it works. Maybes in 3 years time when he is a possible triple champ, we should ask hom to clear off to Minardi/Spyker/Team India for a year and see how well he'll do there. I'd bet any amount of money he would do better than the two drivers they have. I am not disrespecting their drivers, I'm simply saying Hamilton is the faster driver.
The only real way we could settle an arguement like this is stick all the drivers in the same car, and send them off round a track. For some reason, we don't do this. Know why people ? F1 is the pinnacle. The best, the supreme, the top dog. We don't want to see identical cars on the grid. We want to see the maddest, stupidest, slipperist, lightest stickiest monsters ever conceived by man (we don't only by regulations.) Having a handicap system in Formula 1, now that would be silly. It is only right the best drivers have the best car. That way, I get to see the damn best drivers in the world achieve their full capabilites. That's why everyone feels sorry for Button. He's better than that car, and should go to Mclaren, if he could. Hell of a battle then.

Yes the car does help but since when can a driver with no previous experience in F1 go out and beat the reigning champion driving the exact same car? Since when can somebody who isn't great go out an score more points than either of the Ferrari drivers or both BMW driver put together?

I agree with sparky 100%. I love Kimi though he is my favorite driver but Hamilton has been better then him this year and it's his rookie year, any rookie that can be leading in points or even in the battle for points in the last race of the season is obviously an amazing driver, regarding what car they are driving. If you are saying Hamilton is the same skill level as luizzi, and that it's just the car then the same goes for Kimi. Kimi and Hamilton both have the best cars and Hamilton is leading in points, making him the better of the two. I would like to see Hamilton and Kimi battle it out for the lead and have not preference of who wins the race as long as Kimi comes out ahead of Alonso in the points. I think Hamilton deserves it straight up because whether he is a rookie or not he has set records this season that nobody else has came close to (that includes Kimi) setting before and he is an amazing driver. So please stop with the Kimi is the best he is the greatest hamilton sucks and does not deserve it because he does deserve it. Yes Kimi does and he will get his time which hopefully is next year but I don't think this is his year. Okay I'm done....
Edit: I apologize for some of the things I said in that but I am just voicing my opinion. I know it seems like I'm attacking you Nemphis but I'm not meaning to, I have no problem with you at all and you seem like a very cool guy so please do not take any of it personally. Nah everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I respect that. If everyone had the same opinions the world would be a boring place.
I would just like to point out that I don't think Kimi is the greatest I just think he his the best F1 driver at the moment but I'm sure he will go down in F1 history as one of the greats considering he seems to have bad luck follow him around where ever he goes ;).
If 'the wonder kid' wins the Brazilian GP I will personally throw my tv at of the window and all the TV's in my house because all we will get from ITV will be a 3 hour after race spectacular cancelling Corontation Street and talking about how Lewis will be the next Schumacher and talking to his dad a rubbing it into Button, Coulthard & Davidson that they are not 'good enough' to win the WDC and asking them how they feel about Lewis winning the Championship etc etc etc lol. We all know ITV love him to bites and will probably jump off a cliff for him. Then ITV will no doubt have numourous programs on all their channels about 'the wonder kid' and the newspapers would have a field day with kiss and tell stories from girls who say they went out with Lewis and he said he loved them blah, blah, blah and everything like that lol.
Britains whole media will go 'Lewis Mad' and fairplay yeah if he won the title be patriotic about Hamilton winning the title but you just know the whole Media will go overboard like the Sun scraping page 3 girls  and having a week of Lewis half naked on there instead for all the fanboys to see and like a 22 page spectacular about how he got to win the title from when he was born to now and get interviews with a friend of a friend of Hamiltons talking about him lol !
I should really emigrate today just incase because has some of you might know I don't like the way he his portrayed in the media !

hahaha, you don't need to apologize for voicing off. Go look back at the F1 threads, me and Nemphis have had our fair share of clashes. Simple as this, this is the internet, we have heated debates, verrrry heated at times, but we all know that we have our own opinions, likes, and dislikes, and we live with it. We all have our own preference for driver, and that is what makes the motorsport section one of the most respected sections of the site.
But Nemphis, you know the same would happen in Finland if Kimi won the title. It's only natural for the media to play off the whole patrotism thing. Every country wants to be better than the other. Clearly we are better than Finland mate. ;)
Although bloody hell, ya did make me laugh with ya bit "Hamilton instead of page 3 girls thing". lol, wouldn't suprise me.

Yeah me and Sparky have had a fair share of arguments but at the end of the day everyone has their own opinions of drivers and their favourite drivers and has I said if everyone was the same the world and this section of the forums would be a boring place.
On the coverage: Quite possibly but knowing that WRC is pretty popular in Finland and with Marcos Gronholm leading the championship the Finns might be more interested in that. Also the Finnish Hockey Season should start soon if it hasn't already started and Hockey is pretty popular in Finland but yeah they probably would but I very much doubt to the extent of ITV lol.
The page 3 thing could happen and I wouldn't be surprised either.

Or even Red Bull.
Red Bull have all the right people on board, they've got money. and in recent races its really been looking up for them. Not forgetting the great drivers they have.
I think they will be a bit of a dark horse next year.
Renault and Honda's posistion next year is a mystrey.
Is it just me, or did crap livery make them both slow. They both brought crap livery, and both are now sinking down the ranks.

Simply put: amen. :)

If the tobacco bans weren't in place for this season, Renault would have still been with Mild Seven (yellow and blue car) and Honda still would have been with Lucky Strike (red and white car.) The Earth Car was the best they could make out of them losing their main sponsor, and the Earth car is set to continue into 2008. Hopefully it won't be off the pace again.
About my predictions though, a strong Hamilton showing will be in order. Also, does anyone want a season review thread done?

From what I gather from the 2nd page of this thread many are attributing Hamilton's success to the car. OK, I'll buy that but we are talking about McLaren here a major superpower in the F1 world. Just look at when Schumi joined up with Ferrari the first couple of years the car was crap and all of the sudden presto 5 World Driver's Championship titles. An F1 driver would be absolutely nothing if he did not have the team to aid him in his quest for a world title.
Moving on to what some might call the "lower teams" give these guys a break! Let's take Super Aguri or as Steve Matchett likes to say "super best-friends" for example they have a budget of around 35 million dollars. Sounds like a lot to us but Ferrari, McLaren, Toyota and Honda have budgets in excess of 300 million dollars. They've made a dramatic improvement from the beginning of the season, although it's not quite enough for consistent point....yet. At the end of the day you have to do the best with what you have available to you, end of story.

IMO, this is probably the most incredible situation in recent years. Whichever way it goes, its been an incredible, unforgettable year in F1, and its set to end in spectacular fashion. We will either see:
Fernando Aonso come back in incredible fashion to overthrow his unfathomable teammate to regain his title for a third season.
Kimi Raikkonen pull of one of the greatest comebacks ever witnessed to take his first championship.
Or the incredible rookie Lewis Hamilton break history becoming the first rookie in history to win the championship.
Whichever scenario happens, its going to be a fantastic story!

Honda’s Rubens Barrichello on his hopes of scoring his first world championship point of the season in front of his home crowd; McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton on attempting to forget his Shanghai woes; and Ralf Schumacher on his desire to end his three years of labour at Toyota on a high note.
The drivers looks ahead to this weekend’s Brazilian Grand Prix and predict how they may perform on the notoriously bumpy Interlagos circuit...
Lewis Hamilton, McLaren
2006 Qualifying - NA, 2006 Race - NA
“China was another valuable lesson for me this season, and an incident I will take from and try to develop as a driver. I moved on from the disappointment pretty quickly and since leaving Shanghai, my sole focus has been on Brazil. Interlagos is one of those circuits that everybody talks about. I understand it has a fantastic atmosphere, the fans are crazy for the sport, and the track lends itself to great racing. It is another new circuit for me, and there has been a lot of talk by other people about how it is tricky to drive. That’s why I see it as a special challenge and when I arrive at the track on Wednesday I will study it hard with my engineers and start to get an understanding of it. I’ve had some great races with the team this year, and I hope to have another one in Interlagos. Whilst I might be ahead by four points, this championship is still very open. I will do what I can to score the points I need, and the rest is out of our hands.”
Fernando Alonso, McLaren
2006 Qualifying - 4th, 2006 Race - 2nd
“Interlagos has a lot of great memories for me, having won both of my two world championships at the circuit. They were both quite different races, but that is a characteristic of the track. It is very bumpy, you have to have suspension that allows you to drive hard whilst not being too uncomfortable. There are some great corners that you really get to attack, and all the elevation changes make it interesting for the drivers. I am sure we are going to Brazil with full equality across the team and two cars capable of fighting for victory in the race and the championship. Although I am now only four points away from Lewis (Hamilton), I still need for there to be a lot of circumstances in my favour for me to win the drivers’ title that are out of my control, but for sure I will be doing everything that is under my control to make it happen. I have to do my bit and then hope everything else falls into place.”
Felipe Massa, Ferrari
2006 Qualifying - 1st, 2006 Race - 1st
“The fact I will not be fighting for the title does not really change anything for me about my home race. It is a very important race for me on a personal level and we need to do the best we can to win, as I do in every race. But this is my home race and the final one of the year which adds something to it.
“At Interlagos, I will be trying to win the race. For sure, Kimi (Raikkonen) still has a chance of winning the championship, even if it is a small one and it will be difficult. My personal target is victory, but if we see any possibility of helping the team to win the Driver's title, then of course I will be doing what I can. But this is not the way to approach the race weekend. The best way to approach it is to do what I have done at every race which is to think in terms of winning the race.
“Between now and the Grand Prix at Interlagos, I actually have a free weekend coming up, but then, as from Monday I have a lot of promotional, sponsor and media work as part of the build-up to the Brazilian GP. It's going to be a tough week, ending with all my family and friends coming to the track over the weekend. I'm looking forward to it: it should be a very nice way to end the racing year.”
Kimi Raikkonen, Ferrari
2006 Qualifying - 2nd, 2006 Race - 5th
“We go to Brazil in position three. So I'm not really the favourite for the title. But as we saw at Shanghai two weeks ago anything can happen. Whatever will happen, it's going to be a very exciting race. We will give it all. There's lots of pressure on both sides. They have two drivers in the race for the title and they also fight each other. Hopefully we can benefit from that. At Interlagos we need a strong package, especially the engine is very important for the long rising main straight. I will start into this race the same way as into the last two. My aim is to win and the rest is not up to me.
“I've been reading stories that the supersoft tyres should be better for our competitors. That might have been true early in the season. But then things improved for us in terms of the setup. So we just have to wait and see how it goes in Brazil. I have been close to winning at Interlagos, but it has never quite paid off. I've finished three times second, which is not that bad at all. Once I already had the trophy back home for a couple of days. But I had to give it back later because the FIA had checked the classification again. Two weeks ago I said the same about Shanghai and then, this year, I won: let's hope history repeats itself!”
Giancarlo Fisichella, Renault
2006 Qualifying - 6th, 2006 Race - 6th
“This is one of the special circuits in Formula One, and I am really excited to be going back there again. We have won championships there in the past two years, and for me it was the venue for my first ever F1 win in 2003. I enjoy the country, I enjoy the city and I like the circuit: it is challenging, and there is always an amazing atmosphere there. Hopefully, we can have another good experience there in 2007.
“It is a very challenging circuit. It is twisty, with a good mix of slow and medium speed corners. There is a lot of gradient change as well, and of course the anti-clockwise direction that makes it hard physically. It is never easy to find the right set-up, because the two halves of the circuit need opposite things from the car: you want good speed on the long main straight, but lots of grip in the slow-speed infield section with the hairpins. Add in the bumpy surface as well, and you have a real challenge for the engineers to find the best compromise. We tend to run with quite light wing levels, and then work hard to get good mechanical grip, especially under traction.”
Heikki Kovalainen, Renault
2006 Qualifying - NA, 2006 Race - NA
“It is a very physical circuit for the drivers: the surface is bumpy, and it runs anti-clockwise which means it is hard for the whole body but especially the neck. So I have been training hard to prepare for it, and I will be in peak condition for the final race. I think the suspension is one of the most important factors. The cars needs to ride the bumps well, and also the kerbs in the slow middle sector, which we use quite a lot. If you can find a good suspension compromise to give smooth ride and good mechanical grip, then it is a big plus in terms of lap-time.
“This is our last chance of the year to show what we can do. You are only as good as your last race in Formula One, so it is important to score a good result to take into the winter, and hopefully give the team some momentum too. This has been a tough year for everybody at Renault, but we have made progress in the last few weeks and not been able to show it in dry race conditions. Brazil is a circuit where the team has had a lot of success in recent years and while that doesn't mean anything for 2007, maybe it can bring us a bit of luck. I hope we can have a normal race, take the fight to BMW and finish the season with a strong, aggressive drive.”
Ralf Schumacher, Toyota
2006 Qualifying - 7th, 2006 Race - DNF
“I am coming to the end of my time at Toyota after three seasons. It has been an enjoyable and interesting time in my career, even if I would like to have had better results. It has been a hard season for me and the team but I am really motivated to get a good result in Brazil so we can end on a high note. I enjoy racing at Interlagos but it is a very demanding circuit. For the drivers it is a challenge because of the bumps, but from a technical side it is interesting as it is important to have mechanical grip in the tight infield, particularly from Turn Eight to Turn 11, but there is also a long flat-out section through the final corners and onto the main straight. We will work hard to find the best set-up to deal with this, as well as the bumps, when practice starts on Friday. After two troubled races in Japan and China, I hope we can bounce back in Brazil.”
Jarno Trulli, Toyota
2006 Qualifying - 3rd, 2006 Race - DNF
“I enjoy the challenge of racing at Interlagos so I am looking forward to this race. It is one of the trickiest tracks in Formula One, with an enjoyable mix of high and low speed corners. But there are other factors as well to consider, for example the track is anti-clockwise so it puts extra strain on your neck, although I have trained for this so it will not be a problem. And then there are the bumps, which make life difficult with set-up, particularly on a Friday. It’s been a really hard few races for me and the team so I am keen to end the season with an improved result before we focus all our energies on 2008. We have the potential to score points but we have to push hard and not make any mistakes.”
Nick Heidfeld, BMW Sauber
2006 Qualifying - 8th, 2006 Race - 17th
“For me, the circuit in Sao Paulo is one of the best of all. It is challenging - both in terms of driving skill and physically. It's an anti-clockwise track and the straight is actually a long sweeping curve that puts your neck muscles under real strain. Then there's the bumpy surface. The best sections come after Turn Three. Turn Five, which is an uphill double right-hander, is one of my favourites. I took my first podium finish in Interlagos in 2001 after coming third. That's something you never forget.”
Robert Kubica, BMW Sauber
2006 Qualifying - 9th, 2006 Race - 9th
“Of course we are looking forward to Brazil. We will try our best, and then everything we do once we get back to Europe will be new as we will be working for next year. The track itself is very bumpy and quite tricky. There is a big uphill section after the last corner where last year we were losing a lot of speed, especially in the race, so I hope we can do better this year. Though the 2006 race was not bad, I only finished ninth, and this year I want to score points in the season's finale.”
Rubens Barrichello, Honda
2006 Qualifying - 5th, 2006 Race - 7th
“I was born very close to Interlagos so the Brazilian Grand Prix means a great deal to me and it is always a very special weekend. However I really enjoy the circuit not just because it is my home race but also because Interlagos has some great corners and allows good overtaking. My favourite corner is the Curva do Laranjinha which is the most challenging corner of the lap. It's also the corner which I used to cycle to as a child and watch the races from. The bumpy surface of the track is also quite tricky meaning that the mechanical set-up of the car has to be very good. We have had a tough year in 2007 but I am looking forward to the race in Brazil and we will be hoping to end the season in a positive way.”
Jenson Button, Honda
2006 Qualifying - 14th, 2006 Race - 3rd
“Interlagos is a particularly challenging circuit for the drivers as it is one of only two anti-clockwise tracks on the calendar this year. This takes a big toll, using muscles in the neck which aren't used to such an extent on other F1 circuits. The track is also notoriously bumpy and the key to getting a good lap is having total confidence in your car and understanding where all the bumps are and doing your best to minimise their impact. You can overtake at Turn One, which I did in last year's race, and also into Bico de Pato. The race is often wet and then without doubt the biggest challenge is the long left-hand Turn Three. I had a really good race at Interlagos last year and it would be great for everybody at Honda if we could round off this season on an upbeat note, however in a dry race it remains difficult for us to finish in the points.”
Sakon Yamamoto, Spyker
2006 Qualifying - 21st, 2006 Race - 16th
“Brazil is one of my favourite circuits, and I want to do a really good race there. Last year my car wasn’t really great, so in that kind of situation it was an amazing result that we could be seventh quickest in the race, and also I was second quickest in the second sector. So I’m really looking forward to driving there.
“I like the layout, especially Sector Two of course! It’s very complicated, just right, left, right. As an F1 circuit it is a bit tight, but if you’ve got the rhythm, it’s really good fun. It’s good if you have a low downforce car there, and for sure your straightline speed is going to be quicker. Then the problem is how you manage Sector Two, the twisty section. But as I said I like it, and I think I can do a good job there.”
Adrian Sutil, Spyker
2006 Qualifying - NA, 2006 Race - NA
“It’s the first time I’ll be there, and I’m looking forward to seeing another new track after China. Hopefully it will be a better weekend! I only know the circuit from TV. Obviously it has a really long straight and it’s very bumpy, so for sure it won’t be easy to set the car up. We’ve seen already in other tracks that the car is a better in low downforce spec, so we will run as little as possible.”
Nico Rosberg, Williams
2006 Qualifying - 13th, 2006 Race - DNF
“Interlagos is a great circuit and I am looking forward to it. It’s a cool track, with a variety of corners and surface undulations. The past two races have been difficult, so I hope to finish the season well and to hold on to my present position in the drivers’ championship. São Paulo is also a place where you can have some fun in the evenings, so I would imagine it’s going to be a good weekend. I am going to Rio de Janeiro first for a PR day with Petrobras, so I’ll get to Sao Paulo early on in the week. It’s fantastic for Formula One to have a three-way battle for the championship going into the last race of the season, which is not a situation that happens very often. Personally, I hope Lewis (Hamilton) manages to win because he deserves it.”
Kazuki Nakajima, Williams
2006 Qualifying - NA, 2006 Race - NA
“I’m obviously feeling really excited about my first Formula One race. I’ve never driven at Interlagos before, so I’ve been doing lots of preparation work in the team’s simulator at Grove. I’ve also ramped up my training in the gym to help me cope with the pressures on my neck because it’s an anti-clockwise track. It looks like it’s going to rain over the weekend, so the weather is going to make the whole process quite tricky. I’m trying not to put any pressure on myself though. I’m going to take it at my own pace, work through each session step by and step and, above all, just enjoy it.”

Its the usual press conference, but it just seems like everyone gets along, if you ask me, Alonso and lewis have nothing againist each other, in fact the top 4 seem good friends

Okay. I give up. But don't think that BMW will do something bad to the others. Looking forward to the GP. I hope to not have other jobs to do.

I think the BM's wouldnt want to interfere with them, so will probably stay clear of them, imagine one of them taking out one of the title contenders, say they took Alonso out, they would be killed for it by the Spanish press. I wouldnt want to get in the middle of them.
Yeah sonic, Hammy and Alonso have said that there actually quite close friends and the media are just making things up about them being at war. I can believe it, the press always blow everything out of proportion, a dodgy look can be twisted so that Alonso or Hammy look like their at war with one another. I think in private their good mates.

Alonso has just been kicked out of McLaren by Mercedes, so hes offically gone apparently.
Turns out mercedes didn't want him representing their brand anymore.
So who will take the seat, it would be a big move for any driver cause it gives them a seat where they can win championships.

I have heard of people saying McLaren should sue Alonso (http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?PO_ID=41084), but no firing talk!

Free Practice times.
I was checking the times on live timing, and Kimi's times were very off for the last half an hour.
The time that got him to 4th was his very last lap, which got him up from 15th

I'll wait for ITV or McLaren themselves to confirm that. Perhaps we'll see the conformation tomorrow.
Anyway, it's all up:
