I'm looking foward to see what it will actually look like, hopefully it wont look as cheap as the standard XF.
Its just a test mule, hence the S-Type rear end.

Cool. The S-Type was better to me IMO. Mostly older men and women would like this son I agree with Skyline_Luva. The XF is okay. I'll just have to see one to like one.

If they changed the front end and actually made it attractive then I might like it a bit more. Hopefully they wont make the XF-R really soft and middle aged-men like, what skyline said. Hopefully it will have lots of POWWEERRRR, go like stink and handle really well.

Is it me or does the back look exactly like the S-Type? Anyway, I hope its a good car and make it look better. Like everyone says, if they make it middle aged men like, it will be a waste so hopefully it will have loads of power and great handling.

It's meant to look like an S-Type, it's a test mule. The manufacturers put the black tape around all the key features, like the lights, grilles etc and they try to confuse us by putting ends with different cars on itm like this XF with the S-Type rear end on it. Doesn't really make a difference to the performance of the car.

Oh ok, so it wont look like that. Good.

Yeah, it will have XF rear end on it for the production model. Hopefully they'll keep those tailpipes, they look amazing.

Good. Yeah, those tail pipes are nice and the rims arent bad either.
I only just realised that it actually said that its a test mule on the thread, my bad.

I asume it will keep the quad tips, like the XKR.
I dont really like the rims it has, I hope they give it the ones off the current XK / XKR, (like in my avatar), they look much better imo.

Yeah, they look much better.

Oh, yes! This is one car I'm seriously looking forward to. With what's expected to be a 5.0 supercharged V8 and a 0-60 time of mid-4 seconds, it should be pretty amazing. I just hope it seriously undercuts BMW and Mercedes' offerings - as the previous S-Type R did (although this will be more expensive than that one, obviously).

^ Hell yeah. Jaguar told Auto Express that their supercharged 5.0-litre V8 will have a healthy 500 horses and 700Nm of pulling power. Hooah!
Can't wait 'till mid-2008 when the XKR and XFR get given this engine...
On that subject, I can't wait for the new XKR either. It'll weigh a bit less (it was rumoured that Jaguar are going to use carbon fibre bodypanels on the 5.0-litre XKR), will have Jaguar's new 6-speed JaguarDrive transmission (which changes gear in less than 100 milliseconds :)), get rid of that tacky aerial and maybe add a few new trims and colours to the range.

The front end is starting to grow on me, actually. Seen more pictures in magazines and stuff, and it actually looks classy. The rear end is just downright sexy, though. I'll go as far as saying the rear end actually looks exotic...
It's definately gonna handle really well. The XF's chassis is based on the S-Type's, but tuned even further to give even better driving dynamics. And we all know that the S-Type's chassis is great already!

Are they ever going to try using a new rear-end design? I'm getting a little tired of putting up behind Jaguars thinking they're all the same car until I see the badges.
Is Jaguar in cahoots with Audi? They're lack of inspiration kind of bugs me.

Doesn't it show how much you read threads. God help you when you come to read one with more than three sentences if you can't even examine two! :-k
And isn't it quite obvious anyway? You know what the new XF looks like, so why the hell would they use an S-Type rear-end for the XFR?
This is the Jag's new rear end:

Damn that's beautiful...

The spy pics are looking great. XF-R? Hm, sounds good. I like it. The rims are great. The performance should be good.

That's the jags new rear end? Looks kinda ugly to me. Yeah I've never been a huge fan of Jaguars. Sure they are pretty neat, but you don't need to go that far to find a better car. Usually just a short trip over to Germany. It will be interesting to see where the pricing starts on this one too. Most of them are all so damn overpriced because the designers are so gay for fancy leather and some magical bullshit stitching that they jack the price way the hell up and the thing can't perform with ANY other car in it's price range.

The S-type was a flop and costs peanuts second hand, yet they basically brought the same car out again.

Are you joking me? You say that based on... What?
Jaguar are the best-value premium brand out there, along with Audi. Mercedes and BMW are the ones that are overpriced...
I'll give examples, if you want...

Ok, look at every single comparo that Car and driver or even road and track has ever produced that has a Jaguar in it, out of 4 cars, it never usually goes past 3rd. It usually gets beat by the Audi, the Mercades, and the BMW. Why? Because it's overpriced and doesn't have enough power. It's also not as fun to drive. the XKR is a pretty nice car, but once again, the Porsche is a better car, so it again, get's beat again. And no, Jaguar is no where near the best value premium brand out there.

Actually, the XK cabrio beat (yes, came first between) both the SL500 and 650Ci in a comparison when they were compared when the new XK came out. And don't try and say 'that's only one car', because Jaguar have a great future ahead of them, their new design era has just started.
Overpriced? Oh sweet jesus. Okay then, here's the prices of a few Jaguar's compared to their rivals:
-The XKR costs £67,495, whilst the BMW 6-Series M6 costs £82,710 and the Mercedes SL55 AMG £99,897.
-The new XF 3.0 V6 will be £32,925, whereas the equivalent Mercedes E280 costs £34,497, the BMW 530i costs £34,265 and the Audi A6 3.2 SE costs £33,075. Not to mention the standard kit on the XF is awesome.
-The Jaguar-Daimler Super Eight (basically an XJR with a longer wheelbase and added luxuries) costs £79,995, whereas the equivalent Mercedes S63 is £95,567 and the Audi 6.0 W12 £80,995.
Seriously, I've now idea how you can call Jaguars overpriced. They are cars that offer far more value than their rivals...
'Why? Because it's overpriced and doesn't have enough power. It's also not as fun to drive. the XKR is a pretty nice car, but once again, the'
I've just realised you were talking about the XKR. The XKR is more than £15k cheaper than its BMW equivalent and over £32k cheaper than its Mercedes equivalent. That's weird overpricing .
And no, the Porsche isn't better than the XKR. For sporting, maybe. But for comfort, refinement and practicality, the XKR absolutely slaughters the 911. Again, the XKR also stumps the equivalent Porsche for price.

I agree that Jags are over priced.
A 3.0 V6 X Type costs $76,990 Australian. A HSV Senator costs $76,990.
The Jag comes with a 3.0l V6, the Senator gets an engine with two more cylinders and twice the displacement, nearly twice as much power and nearly twice as much torque.
Aside from the Jaguar voice system and carbon fiber trim all of Jaguars optional extras are standard on the HSV.
But at the same time most of the European car makers are overpriced outside there home market. Though from memory Audi isn't as bad as the rest. Nor is VW.

Frewin, you also live in the UK, over in America, where almost all European sports cars must be shipped over here on a boat, the prices for Jag's are a lot higher. And anyway, the Porsche is a better car then the XK. Or have you forgot about how awesome Jags award winning electrical systems are?

the side panels look too tall for the car, and that front grill is a bit awkward for the front. Other than that, I'm sure it'll be a neat car, probably pretty quick.
