Looks like the 2009 Porsche 911 Turbo is getting a little touch up. This prototype spotted in Germany looks like the current model, but we noticed a few minor changes that indicate an imminent midcycle refresh. The front end is unmolested as far as we can tell, but the rear end has new taillights with LEDs and a slightly different lens arrangement. Reshaped tailpipes indicate a reworked exhaust, so there could be a few extra horsepower on tap for a car that's already one of the fastest we've ever tested (http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/Comparos/articleId=119925). Look for an official debut early next year. :-k

We've seen those changes a while ago on the Carrera model. I wonder if they will change the wheel design as well.

Wow, is it me or are 997's slowly looking more and more like Caymans..instead of the other way around?

oh noooo, facelift again? damn its gonna be quite ugly me thinks, porsche just got bored of their designers and just tell them to add a little bit on their rear lights and just go do it again...

I think it looks pretty nice. I love the new rear headlights and exhaust, and is it just me or does the nose seem a bit more pointy?

the only noticeable differance is clearly the LED rear lamps.. and most probably what we dont see is the front headlapm which will have some night mode feature .

I think it looks good. From what i see, they have changed only the rear lights.

Oops.. I just want to avoid double posting so i'm adding some further information for the facelifted 997.

Since December 2006, when we caught the first glimpses of a facelifted Porsche 911 on Nurburgring, nearly every other Porsche 911 on Nurburgring has showed a new facelifted shape - and this time it's the 911 Turbo that's gone under the knife! While we'd like to call it a facelift, the lack of visible changes in the front makes the prototype more of a "rear lift." The 997 Turbo, pictured, features re-modelled rear lights with LEDs as well as a new bumper with altered air outlets and exhaust pipes.

The current turbocharged 3.6-liter Boxer six-cylinder engine puts out 480 hp, while the facelift is expected to produce 500 hp thanks to a new direct-injection engine. The 20 hp increase will narrow the gap between the four-wheel driven Turbo and the light-weight 530 bhp rear-wheel drive GT2 that premiered in Frankfurt last week. The facelifted 997 Turbo is also expected to have a ten percent lower fuel consumption

And here's a pic from the front of the car.

The facelifted 997 is expected to have 500hp. Hm. It will catch the new GT2. :-k

Yep, I like that. I was always afraid that Porsche would somehow ruin the 911 design after the 997 because I thought it couldn't get any better looking because I thought the 997 was a really stunning car, but these subtle changes make it look really really nice. I'm liking the exhaust outlets a lot, and the LED taillights. So far so good, hopefully it will stay that way.

The new exhausts look very good, and the LED lights make it look more up to date. Its deffinately better, and I like the current one. More power will be nice too!

I have this massive urge to take the body off of a brand new 911 Turbo and slap a 1982 911 body and whale tail on it.

I'm liking this a lot.

I can't point out exactly what I like about this one but, somehow, in some impossibly small but significant way, I think this new car looks much better.

And I really like the idea of more power, response, and gas mileage. And knowing Porshce, the small suspensions issiues it had will be more than adequetly addressed.

(I've read some tests where the driver complained of some front end floatiness and general softness when pushed on a track; lap times, next to it's competitors, were disappointing)

I can't say I care for the shape of the new taillights.. but I like everything else.

What you're looking at isn't a 'face lift'. In fact its a 2008 Turbo with parts from the Special Wishes department at Weissach which may be optioned as Tequipment for the '09 model year.

I think This might just be a modified one...
because it has no Porsche badging on,
and its got black rims and all its had really done is the rear lights replaced and new exhaust mufflers, which aren't out of reach of an enthusiastic owner.

Looks good, how they can improve a car like the Turbo is beyond me, imo it pushes beyond the envolope of most road cars anyway. This isn't a Turbo-S is it?
