First off, i'd like you to use proper english and spelling. Second, this forum is not to discuss or promote illegal and down right idiotic ideas such as street racing. Street racing is a fake lifestyle popularized for people who would like to think they have nice cars but are too afriad to race them against the real racers who are at legal events such as an SCCA autocross event or a NOPI meeting.

Street racing is old, tired and played out. If you'd like to discuss legal forms of racing, by all means, this is the place to discuss. But street racing is out of the question.

I agree 100% with Mopar on this, streetracing makes me laugh. Get rid of the concept that streetracing makes you cool. I know alot of people in my home town that like to weave in and out of traffic at double the speed limits on our highways. And every year one of them gets injured badly. Their car is gone, they pay doulbe in insurance, they get looked down on by law enforcement and their families. If you want to go out and be a fast person, try going to a local track and beating some of those people, they've got enough skill to beat street racers across the U.S. and worldwide. Because lets face it, street racing is nothing more than crap drag racing.

And no offense, but if you've ever gotten chased by cops, you know you simply don't get away. A 242mph Koenigsegg CC couldn't get away from the cops, Lamborgini's can't, Ferrari's, Skyline's, and F1's can't. So don't bother trying to BS me into saying you have.

NOW that that's out of the way, like Mopar said, feel free to discuss legal, and truly talent-requiring sportscar racing here. Hell, we love drifting, drag racing, F1, WRC, everything! Except streetracing for a very good reason, it's a talent-less sport that's not only illegal it's dangerous and stupid.

BTW, welcome to SCF! 8)

What a nice welcoming Ghalos :D but you can't getaway from the cops espcially in a civic which is much slower than any of the cars Ghalos mentioned even if it is moddified so please keep street racing out of this forum! BTW shouldnt this be in the street racing sect. :?:

Yeah, sorry for blowin' my lid there, I didn't mean to offend you GhettoFabCivic18, it's just that the last person that tried to say streetracing was cool got himself schooled for about two weeks, this loser tried to shove the thought that streetracing is cool down our throats. So look, if you want to talk about how cool it is, and how it's a "revolution" and a way to show everyone you're a rebel, you won't find many people here who agree.

So, once again, feel free to prove me wrong, be learned in real sports car and GT racing and you'll find some really nice, knowledgable people here. And also, welcome to SportsCarForums.com! 8)

As long as you have a drivers license I think you're eligble. But the SCCA has so many regs to make your car eligble it's somewhat of a pain in the rear. Other than that, I think as long as you sign up and pay the entrance fee, you're in! 8) BTW, I didn't read that link.

GhettoFabCivic18
Sep 20, 2004, 10:18 AM
OK I really don't think my car is fast and I have nothing against all you "American car racing people". I go to the races for the fun. My car in my opinion is not raceable. ITS A HONDA!!! I got that message even though 95% of young kids with Hondas put wings on them and think they're quick. I always ask 'em if they think they are going to fly away somewhere.. lol I do have a 15 second Mustang that I do take to the track though... I love it, but I think its time for a new project. Totally Rebuilt from ground up.. I'm selling it so if anyone's interested let me know.. I have pictures and everything thats done to it I have it all written down because its ALOT! But anyway back to the races if anyone has ever been to the races in Philly the cops do chase you. There are like 1500 cars going every which way when the cops come. I just go to have fun. I do the track scene & the street race scene. But just because you guys are all hard core track racing people don't knock me. BTW has anyone even been to any of these street races in PHILLY? if u havent you really can't say anything because you haven't experienced it.

Ghalos
Sep 20, 2004, 12:17 PM
Gentlemen, and ladies, I think we just ate our own words. :P

Hehehe...Just kiddin', and as for "hardcore" racing, we're not reeeealllly track freaks, we just agree that it's best to keep it off the streets. And just because it's a Honda doesn't mean you shouldn't try and get it into what are called open track days. Here are some URL's, also anybody else who wants to get started, this is where to do it.

www.redlinetrackevents.com
www.speedtrialusa.com
www.tracquest.com

one for dimitris hehehe, www.focuschallenge.com hehehe

Anyways, those are more often than not autocross races and stuff on lesser known tracks. And you'll be bracketed against ppl in cars that are of roughly the same performance and drivers of the same skill. But, since you said you're building a project car, the best benefit to you won't be skills or the other stuff, but rather industry contacts. It's all about who you know. Anyways, sorry if it seemed we jumped down your throat, but like a few of us said, we just like track racing where real talent comes out.

So, for like, the third or fourth time, welcome to SCF! 8)

Ghalos

Also, no, I've only been to Philly once for a quick weekend visit to a buddy of mine who goes to college near Philly. And if you want big races, go to Danbury, Connecticut, it's ridiculous, Supra's, Mustang's, Corvette's, Vipers, it'd make any auto modder weak in the knee's. And all of the cars, are fast as hell.

Welcome to SCF. Don't mind Ghalos, he likes to state his opinions. heh Just messing with ya Ghal.

Civics can be fast, maybe not top speed (except for the one some sponsorship got it up to 202mph on the salt flats) but definately can have a satisfactory rush in a 1/4 mile. But anywho, I know this is off topic, but this whole post seems to be deviant, so anyone see a 9 second 1/4 mi Geo Storm? hahah I watched it burn a camaro and some other car on sunday night. I have to get the website from my cousin.

***Remember, street racing is stupid...even though it was the first step towards track racing. But its not street racing if you're on the highway and some guy is driving like a jerk and you want to school him. 8)

I saw a video of a Civic holding it's own against some Viper...Only reason was because they were on some Interstate already going 65 mph...Instead of a standing start, hehehe.

Hehe, 2 Fast 2 Furious style. But speaking of street racing stories, does anybody know of a place to do a quarter mile on the NJ interstate or something? My dad has told me about how there was a stretch of highway(in PA) that you could race on and that people could watch from an overpass. Just wondering if there are places like these around in the Garden State.

BTW Welcome to SCF.

Yes, I know. Track days beat any street race in my book. But since I live pretty far from a real track(there is a drag strip kinda near by) that might not happen very soon.

Kirstyn

Sep 30, 2004, 12:34 AM
Ditto, except, more like an hour. But that's Lime Rock and it's only open to clubs, luckily I got one chance there, in that red 360...hehehe... 8)

Ghalos
Sep 30, 2004, 1:10 AM
Hahaha...noooo, I drove a local country club owners one at Lime Rock, he let me ride in it and then take 3 laps in it. F1 paddle shift system...And of course 394 bhp...I hit over 150mph. 8) Arguably the best day of my life so far.

Kirstyn
Sep 30, 2004, 8:47 AM
cool, the 360 is alot faster than the 355 i think

Ghalos
Sep 30, 2004, 11:57 AM
Yep, considerably, not in sheer numbers though, it's just a little quicker, but in gear acceleration, considering that's the fastest most powerful car I've driven, is fantastic. It was the sheer speed, and sound that made my hair on my neck stand up. Plus it has handling I didn't think possible in a car, it made me realize how far down my car and perception of "fast" was. But that's also good, made me notice what to strive for in my cars. :P

Kirstyn
Sep 30, 2004, 6:12 PM
i see. i think my dad would get the 600 imola or 612 scagaletti if they werent so damn ugly. but he wants a new ferrari and i think he's gonna end up with the F430... that is if he decides to get that instead of replacing his old db7 (which he would replace with a V12 Vanquish)

SpeedMuse
Sep 30, 2004, 8:20 PM
I still think the F430 is just ugly. Not my taste I guess. I'd definately go with the Vanquish in terms of styling.

I cant believe you still think it takes more skill to go down a straight track with no other cars then racing a track with curves which is wat street racing is all about. Street racing is nothing like off of the fast and the furious u dont just go in a straight line their are turns and all sorts of stuff.

DO u ever go to race wars or do u even have a car i have yet heard about ur car if so I would like to race u in My EVO 8.

Ghalos
Oct 17, 2004, 12:30 AM
Go to Lime Rock or Laguna Seca, and you'll lose to the racers there. And I doubt an EVO with 271 bhp can beat a 500 bhp Viper on the straights, wait, I know for a fact it won't win.

Don't make empty statements you ass...

I say that usualy cops don't pursue you for parking tickets. And to speed, your car first has to be able to do the legal limit

nodnarb...you remind of stunt101 and his koenigsegg.

where the cops actually persueing you? or where they just sitting in the parking lot?
just fyi: no matter how fast your car is, how good of a driver you are, the police will catch you. They road traps, spikestrips, helicopters with teargas...wait, no, thats hot pursuit 2.

I have street raced a lot in the past but i dont do it anymore. my category of street racing is very stupid and dangerous. From start to finish is 1.6 miles long. The first one to pass the finish wins (obviously) and no safety rules at all.
In the 996 turbo i raced an SL55 and was so far away from him that he started complaining later on about not being fair. In the quarter mile both of us did bad timing but i was 1.2 seconds better then his timing was. and this guy still never admits defeat.
if you are wondering at what speeds we pass the finish line well then i never look down on the guage when racing but once i got a speeding ticket that said 337kmh.
