Is it possible that a stock 535d (272hp) in 5th gear at 4,500rpm do 255km/h? Cos I'm having some problems with someone...

I would doubt it, sixth gear... yes

If you removed the limiter

Cause in Hi5 groups, there is one guy who sais he did 255km/h with his 535d and he showed me this pic: http://img.duepuntozero.com/ca7/1431137_0.jpg
(sorry, couldnt go to imageshack)
I cant believe it does 255km/h in 5th gear.. birger, you are right, in sixth gear it could. Oh i almost forgot: It sais M5 in the middle, so he sad it is 5th gear manual. As I do not understand much of this "M5 manual blablabla" i have my doubts..

it is in 5th, my car displays the gears that way too, at least when in manual mode (M1 for first, M2 for second, etc)

it is possible, it would probably have less power in 6th gear so mostly, its in 5th gear, that M5 display says it so i htink it means manual 5th gear...and the diesel is just very fast...

Very fast indeed! Hell, so, what is it top speed? 270? with 272hp? I just believe that pic because it is from a BMW and as diesel it must be the 3.0 twin-turbo..

You have to remember that the 535d has a lot of torque, and also that the car will probably be geared differently to a petrol car to exploit the torque that is available. I have no idea what the top speed of the car is but would still prefer a petrol motor.

Totally possible.

We had an A4 Avant S-Line 1.9 TDI with about 150hp. We were doing 180km/h in a rather steep uphill section in 5th gear (we had a sixth gear).

Now imagine on flat, in a car with an engine almost twice the size. 255km/h in fifth is easily feasable.

yup it is eaasy .as shortroot pointer out the deisel got alot of torque .. so yes

It's definitely possible. I mean it has a pretty big 3.0 V6 with not one, but TWO turbochargers. So of course it would have enough torque and power in 5th gear to reach 255km/h. But isn't the car limited to 155mph or 250km/h? So maybe the owner of that car got the top speed limiter removed...

Maybe. It's a diesel car and it has much torque for this. So it can. Also the road maybe wasn't flat. But when this car released? I can't remember it. :-k

Its not a v6 its got a straight 6

Yeah it's supposedly limited to 250km/h but a lot of cars with these limiters actually go a bit faster before the limiter kicks in, it's only 5km/h after all

It's possible since it's a diesel car it has alot of torque because diesel has high compression ratio.
But I think the speed limiter has to be cut so that the computer system can readjust the gear ratios.

If speed limiter isn't cut it's like saying you can reach the car's top speed at the second to last gear. This doesn't make sense....

All German cars have 250km limit.

All German cars have 250km limit.

Not true, alot do but not all of them.

No Porsche has a limit.

its km/h, not km, lol...

and yup, its not all of them, some of them dont have, and porsches do have limits, but just not speed limits, probably what, 5 minutes of constant 9,000 rpm?:p okay okay...

and also some mercedes, they do have limit, but not a 250kmh or 155mph limit...

Well if not all German cars have 250km/h limit then that's good news.

And yea...come to think about it the Bugatti Veyron doesn't have a limiter set at 250km/h either.

You're right

^ yup, though the veyron do have a limiter, just because it has two keys, the second key could remove the limiter, its quite a nice option, but kinda confusing if you ask me

The Audi R8 hasn't got a limiter
Opel/Vauxhall OPC/VXR
Merc McLaren

I was gonna say Bentley because they are almost completely build in Germany by a German company, but then again they are a British firm.

No Porsche has ever been limited to anything.

Apart from in "abilty to handle like a normal car" competitions ;)
