Hope this aint a repost....

Came with the following info:

Ferrari has started the development of the all important mid-engined F430 model successor (http://www.worldcarfans.com/spyphotos.cfm/spyphotoid/6070503.001/country/ecf/Ferrari/spy-photos-more-ferrari-f430-challenge-stradale). First test mules are based on the, yet to be released, F430 Challenge Stradale and have now started to rack up test kilometres on the Fiorano test track as well as the winding mountain roads around the Maranello headquarters.
According to the spy photographer, he managed to get shots of the fully finalized model! Unfortunately, it is hidden under a red cover spotted from a long distance and he was not able to get a shot with it off. Nevertheless, this image gives evidence that the work is much more advanced than previously thought, and the eagerly awaited new model could debut before the end of 2008.
For some time, it was speculated that Ferrari would opt for a V10 engine in order to match the Lamborghini Gallardo. However, since Formula 1 regulations went back to using V8's, Ferrari decided to stay with the proven configuration for the F430 successor. Some of our sources from within the Ferrari factory have hinted to a supposed 5.4 litres of displacement. However, from an engineering point of view, a more moderate, figure-inverted, 4.5 litres seems much more likely. More interestingly, as a result of the increased engine displacement, Ferrari, through their extensive experience in Formula 1 and track-based Ferrari FXX (http://www.worldcarfans.com/news.cfm/newsid/2060203.016/country/ecf/Ferrari/ferrari-fxx-debut-at-bologna-motor-show) are planning to raise the maximum rev limit from 9,500 to 10,000 rpm with output in excess of 370 kW / 500 hp.
From these spy photos we can see this prototype has camouflaged lateral air scoops in the side of the front bumper fascia (in front of the front wheels) which alludes to an improved braking system which requires increased cooling capabilities. Also, we can see enlarged and flared lateral air intakes in front of the rear wheels which suggests increased cooling needs of a larger engine. Lastly, a revised and partly camouflaged flow efficient rear skirt and exhaust setup all derived from the Challenge Stradale can be seen.
A radical new styling scheme, the new option of all-wheel drive, reduced body weight and improved handling from innovative adaptive suspension damping will all mark important aspects in bringing Ferrari well ahead in the competition with the Lamborghini Gallardo and Audi R8/RS8. And in this respect, the new Ferrari cannot be released too soon, although the current F430 is still a fantastic car and virtually sold out.

Lemme know what u peeps think...

Well, if its the second picture, its FUGLY. And the rest, imo, just looks like the CS, unless they change the body into that fugly thing. Frankly, I dont really understand why they need to make a new body for this thing, it looks wonderful already.

It's kind of cool looking, but I think the F430 looks better. But then again, at first I liked the 360 better than the 430...

The second pic looks like a fish mouth in the front of it. It looks okay I just don't like the fact that the front bumper has been jacked up a couple inches. I miss the 360... I really do.

Nope that's just the new Challenge Stradale. And believe me Ferrari will never make an AWD, it would make Enzo rise from his grave and slap whoevers idea it was.

The first pic could be anything. YOu can't trust the second pic because of the fake Gallardo/SUV and Ferrari DIno pics they provided. THe other pics can just be a GT prototype.

I'm actually with SRTexpert on this one. The old 360's were great in almost everyway, and if you could lift the 430 engine and shove it into a 360 CS it would be amazinggggg, if anything.

The challenge stradale is just a test mule for the upcoming Ferrari 430 replacement
"Ferrari has completed development of a four-wheel drive system for its future sports cars, according a report by Italiaspeed. Rumors of a AWD system first surfaced exactly a year ago when the U.K.'s Autocar magazine published patent drawings made by the Italian automaker for such a system.
Unlike the full-time all-wheel drive systems used by Lamborghini and Audi, the Ferrari setup is an "insertable" four-wheel drive configuration. This means the car will typically operate with power going to the rear wheels only, and engage the front wheels as needed. A computer-controlled clutch determines when to activate the front wheels.
The system will work in both mid-engine and front-engine Ferraris, according to the report. The Autocar report suggested sister company Maserati could also use the technology."

i don't think ferrari is planning of making nething new.it would cut sales of current models plus the current ones are pretty new to be phased out so soon.it must be a test mule for an enzo ranged model.u do knoe that ferrari owes us a F60.

AWD on a Ferrari is shocking, but a dream come true for me!

Enzo399, you have a point. Sure, there is evidence Ferrari is making an AWD system, but if Ferrari does use it, won't it upset Enzo? (I know, he's dead) Dam, our current generation is fkking up some traditions. I heard that Porsche vowed to make only sports cars, and out comes the ugly duckling, the Ceyenne.

Back on topic. The 2nd pic is indeed fugly. I hope that's not real. And I agree that the 360 looks loads better than the 430. I hope the successor won't look butt-ugly. I wouldn't really worry for performance, Ferrari always gets that job done.

BTW, did anyone notice the "F131 EVO" logo on the front bumper? What is that supposed to mean?.....

Hmm, AWD on a Ferrari, this should be exciting. It would be better if it was RWD sine they are sticking with their original recipe. But now they made it AWD, which could be a good or bad way to go, lets just wait and see.

As for the looks, on the 2nd pic, it looks aggressive, but it's ugly as. It also looks more higher than the current F430 which ruins it's stance. But the rims aren't too bad.

And is it just me or does the last 3 pics look like a F430 CS? Especially this pic, the CS has similar exhausts.

The concept drawing or whatever looks nice to me actually, appeals to me, the aggressive front bumper and side vents and side skirt all goes well in my opinion. And i love the rims on the second pic as well.... and now this F430 looks so much wider and lengthier than the previous one, its body is all pretty much stretched out.

I like the idea of a F430 CS, but making it AWD just kills the Ferrari spirit in an instant. It's like saying Quattro cars will now have an option of RWD....

Mehtinks it's either going to be just a face lift with output increase, or it's the Dino.

this looks like the CS more, probably because the rear...but anyways, i dont like the looks of it, i dont trust WCF chops now, they make cars look even more uglier and yea, nothing much, and the chop anyways, makes the car look very ugly, anyways...but AWD? damn now this will kill the whole Ferrari thing...if it was the Dino which is a old news, it would even make me mad and yea...

anyways, i dont like it...

What else would you prefer?:p

This is similar with the CS. From the rear, at least. The second pic isn't so sure for me. It is a chop. It will look like that. But we don't know. But from the spyshots the car looks like with the CS. I love these exhausts in the centre of the bumper. They look stuning. Also the rear diffuser is all the money. Without a doubt.

I'm all excited, but I think it's too early to introduce an F430 replacement....I think the F430 still has a good few more years in it's cycles before it has to go. It's only been around three years, which isn't really a long time in car cycles....but a replacement with more displacement, power, better brakes and handling would be amazing. The F430 was an absolute peach, so whatever this model is, it will be amazing.

@Zeyk, good to see you back fella.

The F430 already received a fair share of criticism about the larger flaring 'nostrils' than the 360 Modena, so I don't think there is any chance of seeing Ferrari offer something that looks like this.
