Yes, they tweeked it a bit more to 575bhp, or 580bhp.
Plus the first drives are coming in early July. So its about a month away.
I've also spotted this, brilliant video of the T1 in action. Well worth watching.
http://www.autocar.co.uk/VideosWallpapers/Videos.aspx?AR=225977&CT=V
Plus you'll never guess were Caparo have been testing the T1 lately. No, not the nurburgring, they've been at the Top gear Test track testing the Caparo.
Plus i have some interior shots of the T1 here, i'll post them up in another few minutes.
So comments anyone

loving the look of that! sounds nice too, touring car-like!
damn 580bhp and it weights 400kg... insane isn't the word :|!
sexy as always, too... LMP-F1 crossover!

^^don't you mean 500kg.
Even still the power to weight of an F1 car is around 1233, and the T1 is 1150 now. Thats so very close, for a road car. They say this car could even compete in LeMan and Win without any modifications.

oh, 500kg then, sorry. i thought it was 400.
damn! so basically it's as fast as an F1. holy moly!
i think they should try it! although regulations really wouldn't allow such a design and such a low weight :-k

I saw the Caparo T1 in person with that very interior, so I didn't expect them to still be "spy shots". It's kinda small in there and I remember the passenger seat being minuscule. No fat people will fit in there, it's good it'll keep the weiht down. :D
It's true though, imgine if you weight 100kg, you make the car 600kg instead of 500kg. That's a 20% increase! And if there is two 100kg people, that's a 40% increase! I'm guessing that'll have considerable compromise on the car's performance, even thought there's nothing you can do about it... And 100kg for a grown man is not excessively overweight.
It's an amazing machine, wait until you see it for real.

All I can say is OH MY GOD, I think I'am in love. This is seriously the greatest car I've ever witnessed being made, practically it's the perfect supercar in my opinion. Look at the steering wheel for gods sake, whoever came up with the idea for this is a god. Extremely raw power, sounds insane, we all know what 1HP per kilogram equals and those aerodynamics are devine. Beautiful, absolutely beautiful.

Hmm that's a great car and it would be very fast. 500kg? OMG.. This car is very extraordinary and very unique. Go go!
And they testing it in top gear's track? Lucky men.

Actually it is around 1370 as the 600kg minimum weight is for car+driver.
740bhp / 540kg = 1370

^^yeah, but when measuring the weight of a car, you don't consider the drivers weight, so its the same for every car. Still, those preformance figures are done with a driver, so the weight is already there. So basically you should ignore the drivers weight

Exactly so the weight you used to calculate the F1's power to weight ratio, 600kg, included the driver (Im sure you know but after each F1 race the first things drivers to is go to the balance and weigh themselves, even before getting the trophy). When you calculate any power to weight ratio you should use the weight of the car alone as you did with the caparo but you didnt with the F1 so your figures were wrong.
For my calculation y used 540kg as the weight of the car as the average F1 pilot weighs 60kg.
I wrote this much because it looked like you didnt understand me:)

Says on that site to that it's been tested with methanol for 700 bhp. However it also said it has a maximum rpm of 12,000, but is limited to 10,500.
I've read that the engine has safely been tested to 17,000rpm. This car will be faster than the F1 cars of 2010 if Bernie gets his way.

Awesome!! It has 750 bhp and it weighs 500 kg!! And it don't sound to bad either! Those guy are freaking lucky to drive the T1 and on the Top Gear track it looks like.

This kid who went to my school's dad was Chief Aerodynamicist or something like that for the Caparo T1 project.
Anyway, me and a friend picked up the new Top Gear today and looked inside and saw the shots of it....wow, oh my god. It's insane. It's insane in the grey-ish colour, and that steering wheel is as close to an F1 steering wheel as you can possibly get. It's mad. And it's so fast that it will leave your nuts hanging off the rear spoiler.
I want one.

What's more insane than its specs, is the fact that it's street legal, even in the US.

^ so it's quite possible to win the race because of say a bird, or perhaps a blinker of yours falls out of it's place..
Anywho, sounds very "cool" I mean if it ISN'T The "end all beat all of the super/hyper car kit car wanna be" world...Then it'd be a HUGE HUGE disappointment, i mean it IS a F1 car for the street.

Yeah this car is absolutely stunning!!!! and the engine is N/A right??? i wonder if anyone put two turbos on it what will happen? but this kind of performance is more than enough. anyone got the lap time around the TG test track??? tell me please
sonicadg
Jun 10, 2007, 11:50 AM
^^no, its not N/A, the production car will have a 3.5 liter V8 with 575bhp. They've tested it and all, but it has been limited to soo many revs, because if they didn't it would break down constantly, bit like an F1 car
S-Tune_S1
Jun 10, 2007, 12:06 PM
its supercharged right ? ^^
sonicadg
Jun 10, 2007, 12:22 PM
Not any more, there was a Supercharged 2.4 V8, but they dropped the supercharger and got a 3.5 litre instead. Thus more power, 575bhp

Jun 10, 2007, 1:36 PM
This sounds awesome. The Caparo T1 is already amazingly fast, but now they made it even faster! The power to weight ratio must be very similar to an F1 car. And it's hard to believe it's even road legal too. Can't wait for the official specs...

Jun 10, 2007, 1:47 PM
Well although I DO think this car is absolutely dumb, and ugly..
I DO!!!! Hope caparo gets the business they want from this showcase.
And I gotta go with carbuff..
I've never seen a more fragile looking car..It looks like paper, and at some points in the video the body was almost flapping in the wind.

I was just wondering, is the power-weight ratio of this car higher than the Veyron? Never mind me, I'm just trying to learn.

I was just wondering, is the power-weight ratio of this car higher than the Veyron? Never mind me, I'm just trying to learn.
Simply, yes.
Numerically, the Veyron has more weight than power, so you're going to get a power-to-weight ratio less than 1000kW/tonne. The Caparo has more power than weight, so you're going to get a power-to-weight ratio more than 1000kW/tonne.
sonicadg
Jun 11, 2007, 3:38 PM
Yeah, the veyron actually has an apauling power to weight for a 1001bhp car, the bhp per ton is only 530, the only reason it gets those great preformance figures is through using both AWD and Launch control.
frewin1987
Jun 11, 2007, 4:17 PM
^ and its aerodynamicness.
weight doesn't affect top speed, and higher power gives a high top speed. because its heavy, that doesn't matter. it's got huge power and is aerodynamic. weight doesn't affect the top speed, only how quickly it gets there.
sonicadg
Jun 11, 2007, 4:57 PM
^^yeah, though i never really even consider a cars top speed, seeing as most cars will only ever be driven to about 150mph. Acceleration is alot more fun
frewin1987
Jun 11, 2007, 6:03 PM
^ i agree totally. i'd take huge acceleration over a huge top speed anyday...
Driftster

I was just wondering, is the power-weight ratio of this car higher than the Veyron? Never mind me, I'm just trying to learn.
The power-weight ratio of the caparo is: 575bhp/550kg=1.045bhp per kg.
The power weight ratio of the veyron is:1001bhp/1888kg=0.530bhp per kg.
Here are the results.
Simply, yes.

True. You are right.
^ i agree totally. i'd take huge acceleration over a huge top speed anyday...
I agree with you because if i had a car with huge speed then i wouldn't achieve these speeds because roads in my country aren't reliable. So better is acceleration for me.
Here are some pics from the caparo.

what do you mean by test drive? top gear tested it. It's probably all over youtube. I have the video on my computer. I have lots of top gear on my computer in fact....
^^^ didn't it come first but they wouldn't allow it because the car wouldn't go over a speed hump?
anyways, probably never see one here in Aus, we're still checking if the Atom is road legal...
it would be good to have one (either Atom or Caparo) out here to be able to make all the commadore drivers see they actually have crap cars.
