New Flagship Model Crowns the BMW X5 Range

BMW’s ever-popular M Sport derivative is to be introduced to the new BMW X5 range for the first time. On sale now, the new flagship offers customers a substantial level of sports-orientated standard equipment when compared to SE specification to offer a distinctive and dynamic range-topping model.

The new BMW X5 4.8i M Sport comes equipped with 19-inch V-spoke M light alloy wheels, Sports suspension, M Aerodynamic body styling, Sports seats, matt aluminum surround to the side window frames, high-gloss Shadowline roof rails, Anthracite headlining and M leather steering wheel. Customers wishing to further differentiate their cars can also choose to upgrade to 20-inch M V-spoke light alloy wheels.

The introduction of M Sport to the BMW X5 range has been eagerly awaited by buyers as 90 per cent of the previous models sold were specified as a Sport.

The new BMW X5 4.8i M Sport will be available in six colors: Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Carbon Black, Monaco Blue, Space Grey, Titanium Silver. Inside and Nevada leather upholstery is standard and is available in Black, Grey, Beige and Saddle Brown hues. Dark Walnut interior trim is standard on the X5 4.8i M Sport but customers can specify Brushed Aluminum, Dark Bamboo or Light Poplar at no additional cost.

Power for the car comes from a 4,799cc engine fitted with Bi-VANOS and VALVETRONIC variable valve technologies to produce 350 bhp. The advanced engine is capable of propelling the car from zero to 60 mph in 6.4 seconds before going on to a top speed of 150 mph. The 4.8-liter powerplant still records 22.6 mpg on the combined cycle and emissions of 299 g/km – both figures that better rival products from Porsche and Audi.

The introduction of a new variant to the X5 range comes as the sales figures reveal that the model is exceeding original expectations. Customer demand for the BMW X5 means the model is forward sold until the end of 2007.

For a moment here I thought it was a repost. i think i made a thread on the bmw x5 eariler on though. anyway, for this one i absolutely love this model. the taillights look totally brilliant with the crystalized version and the front bumpr looks even more aggressvie with the nice interior as well. i like the looks of it... but the performance? i think they need to work on that.

The wheels look kinda bland; I think I like the black fenders and trim better.

looks ugly as hell as usual, looked great before but now with the facelift thing, ugh, the M sport thing looks okay on the car, but eh, ill stay away from it, it uses the new M3 rear bumper designs and something like that, i still dont like that car

and the last front shot, the headlights looks like a chop

Hmm, i think it's alright. The front looks like it has adapted the M3 style front bumper and same goes for the rear bumper. Overall it looks pretty aggressive with the facelift in my opinion, but it's still ugly like all other X5s. But i like the rims, they look nice.

I don't think it looks that much more sporty.

It's nice and all, and photos don't do it justice (I've seen several nex X5s and they are really nice) just like woth their new 3 series.

I'd never buy it over a second hand Cayenne or nice estate car though.

Definitely not my type of cars. Not saying the X5 is a terrible car, its far from it, I just don't fancy SUVs with aerodynamic properties of a brick.

Msport kit doest look nice as the kit that comes standard on the 4.8I .. anyhow its good to be differant .. but i would'ny take it in this white colour

Meh doesn't look too special. Looks better than the standard X5 but looks a bit too flash now. Looks like the sorta car you'd expect some willy to cut you up in.:p

whos cares about aerodynamics at this point because not like you going to do 200mph on the roads and realistically 150mph is enough for public roads or around a track

Eh... its a nice try by BMW an Msport. The rims are pretty descent. Really and truly there is nothing sporty about it the suspension has been dropped about 5-6, bigger rims, and a subtle bodykit.

So would I, or a Cayenne. I like the M Sport thing, but I hate the new facelift for the X5, I like other Bimmers but this is hardly different to the old one which has been out for centuries, except they've just made it look ugly!

Nah, I actually really like them. Plus, they are probably technically the BEST in their class. The X5 is certainly not.

Seriously, this BMW is like the worst looking BMW like the X3. I hate both models. This X5 is worse than Cayenne. I like E53 X5. It looks better than the current one a lot. Why would you care the stats when you are driving these? You're probably thinking about fun and luxurious of the car.

Totally agree, I like how it looks and the Turbo S is probably one the best performing SUV's out

After seeing those pictures from breakFan, I kind of like the Cayenne now. If you have seen it in real life before, it looks nice. In black I mean. I love the thing in black. However, I'm still sticking with X5 despite Cayenne in faster. E53 I mean. =)

Not too bad. The rear and front bumpers are a little fussy, but the colours you get are not too bad, but I was expecting a lot more performance things, because a steering wheel and some new rims don't really cut it. But the motor sounds good and so do all the toys you get with it aswell.

still ugly as f*ck, but i suppose it's better. i like it more than i used to. i also think it's amazing how the car weighs around 2.3 tonnes but can do 0-60 in 6.4 seconds from just 350bhp. wowie...

i'd take a Disco, a RRS or a Q7 over it anyday, though.

I quite disappointed. The older 4.8is M Sport was one of the coolest BMW X5's I'd ever seen. It was much more aggressive and sleek.

This looks more like cheap, understated, aftermarket.

If this car is in the M sport class I think it should be able to compete with the Cayenne Turbo.

It was gonna happen, so yeah, it's not so bad. As long as it doesn't go down the supercharged Range Rover route, I'm cool with it. Looks alright actually.

Personally i like it..It's good..The facelift was correct..The front bumper is more "angry" than the previous one..The rear lights are good and i think are more sporty and well designed..I don't quite like these rims. Also it has angel eyes..
One warning..At night if you see angel eyes in the highway you should change direction...These bmws which have angel eyes are very fast..
