two days ago i was going about 85 on a two lane road. and i was going around a turn and i was going to take the inside and ezz out on the outside. but a truck was coming so i kind of jerked the wheel and my back right tire caught the grass and i started fishtailing. and i went into the grass and lost control and hit this big colvert and went about ten feet in the air and landed on the other side of the colvert. and all the air bags deployed and i totaled my car luckly no one was with me
a foot over and i would have hit the whole colvert and i wouldnt be here today....
when i get pictures ill put them up

Way to go, going 85 on a two lane. Maniac.
I hate to say it and sound like a jerk, but it serves you right. What in the hell were you thinking? And how in the hell did you get in a car and drive 85 miles an hour at age 15?
People like you...I swear...

no offence but that was foolish, if the police caught ya you'd be in deep ****, that happened to someone i used to go to school with he was 16 (minimum driving age in UK is 17) when he crashed and he was caught, he has to wait till he's 18 till before he can get a provisional license.

Serves you right.

Give him a break, he made a mistake. You all have, or you all will. This is not what you'd want to hear after a tramatic situation, especially when you've admitted your faults.
Glad to hear that no one was hurt. Was the law involved? Is this going to compromise getting your license?
.... well at least you're alive.

Sorry, but you sound like a complete prik here, Just because your dad was a cop and knew the guy so you didnt get in trouble is not an excuse.
Its not always about YOU, what about other people on the road? what if you hit them? what if you killed them? there is always a what if? you were the stupid one for doing 85mph, you wont get a sorry from me.

85mph is alright on a two lane if your in a good handling car, i mean theres an empty single lane road near my house that we use as a shortcut to get out of town, and i vividly remember my dad getting 125mph down it at 5AM on our way out of town to go to cornwall, it was lush.

i suppose if you've got the skills you can do those speeds, but judging by the title of this thread, obviously not.

I agree, 15 is too young to be driving a car at that speed given the lack of experience. I'm sorry for what happened and am really glad that you or anyone else is not hurt but at your age and driving experience you should not have been trying something like that. I'm not picking on you, just giving my opinion, don't take it personal.

I got my permit when I was 15, I drove stick shift and I might have gone that fast already. But there's one thing for sure, I wasn't as stupid. I know when and where to drive that fast.

Freak accident? Have you ever even driven a car? I'm glad to hear your little balls are brassier than mine.
And Skyline, 85 on a two lane on a public road is NEVER okay, I don't care if you're Ayrton Senna. I've only done twisties at 85 on a track, and that's where it should stay. If you think you're gonna go out and get yourself a badass "good handling" RWD car and then do 85 on a two lane, then you'll probably end up in the same boat as sir Liarsenic.

yeah i no it was stupid as hell and if i could i would go back to change it but it happend and its over nothing i can do about it so oh well
i needed to go fast anyways i had alot of stress going on and everyone knows going fast makes you forget about everything so thats why i did it
but thanks for all your helpfull remarks :)

all i meant was doing 85 on a straight is ridiculous doing it on a bend is suicidal i dont agree with that type of speeding on any road,

Yeah, it not a very smart idea to take a 2 lane corner at 85mph, but at least you're ok. Just make sure that you have learnt from your mistake and won't do it again, then you will be fine. Also, if your 15, then you shouldn't be driving at all!

Anyway, I'm waiting on the pics, I really wanna see the wreck of yours... But anyway, that was crazy, doing 85pmh, on a 2 lane road, sheesh, what were ya thinking? lol :p j/k

I think people are getting a little confused here
2 Lane Road = 2 lanes, 1 lane on each side
4 Lane Road = 2 lanes on each side
at least thats how i call it.
yes i was going 85 mph

I can beleive that, policemen take care of their own. A smart one would have you prosecuted to the full extent and you would probably never do it again.
seriously though, 15, what did you expect everyone here to say, "oh well, better luck next time, hope you get to replace your BMW .."

No, its not alright, roads are only built to handle certain amounts of speeds, there are public roads that can handle high speeds, but 85 on a curvy 2 lane road is just stupid.
This thread is pointless without pictures. When are we going to see them?
probably ... never
First it was i was going 85 mph, then he is slowing down to 85 mph to take a curve in a unnamed car, and to top it off he is 15 ..

A real car enthusiast would have a better idea of what speed they were actually going when they screwed up. Unless they were holding a phone to their head. Unless they were a chick.
An honest estimate of degrees/roll required to remove phone from ear might enable a statistical go/no go on the latter Q.

you would call BS if the world fell on your head, just shutup.
roads are only supposed to handle certain speeds, but for a certain car you can oush that, 85mph on a 2 lane road in a ford fiesta is nuts, in an F1 car its slow.
look at moncao GP for example.

I have only gone 85mph on the motorway and even then I was abit rary (spelling) !

Slip differentials would have saved your car depending if it had them in it. Another, you probably jerked the wheel and held it there. For future refrence, jerk the wheel to the right to avoid the truck then sharply to the left to give swing on the back tires, and back again to the right while on the breaks, thus engaging in a "drift". at this point down shift or (in automatic) apply breaking hard ant E-Break like theres no tommrow. At 85 a flip is possible, considering a tire looses its grip at xMph(two times the square root of tire pressure(lbs/in)), so you really were going too fast given that hapened. Also the road could have been a factor.
Please note just cause the car can go fast doesn't mean you can. 85 is kinda fast for a convetional car.
Anyway, if your not in a Slip Diff. car, don't go above 80mph and take a turn please, or install them.

A bmw 325i, were do you get that, did you rob it? Are you a drug dealer?
Porscheboy
May 31, 2007, 3:18 PM
Channanox, I doubt at 85 that slippydiff would have saved him. It definitely helps, but if anything ESP would have been better, cutting out the engine power.
The 325i does come with a slip-diff I thought, or at least the new one's do. It's just stupid driving.
Honestly, I think (almost) every new driver should get in an accident, just so that they know they're not invincible. Not so they get really hurt, but just a little bit, to shake them up.

15!!???
Please get some serious track training from someone NOW.
Not only was the speed high with little experience, but from your discription you should not have fish tailed (over reacting on the steering?), and should have allowed for the "unlikely".
Also it is a case of Horses for Courses, the car you had does not have the set up for that sort of driving.
I bet the adrenline pump put you out for a while :) You are on a great forum- use it to learn and ask; plenty of experience here.
Please stay alive, the world needs you :)

I bet the adrenaline pump put you out for a while :)I remember the first time I rolled a car (yes, I've done it a couple times...). It was in my dad's 912 (the one I ended up with that I sold a year or so ago). I was running through Ortega Highway with some buddies and at the end of the highway where you turn onto Grand we usually take it at about 40 or 45. Well, this happened to be the first time I'd ever pushed a rear engine car hard and although I took it somewhat easy through Ortega I figured I'd slide out onto Grand like I knew what I was doing! lol... I hit the turn from the wrong side of the road at about 50 or 55... the ass spun out from under me, I ended up facing the wrong way and the last thing I thought was 'my dad's gonna kill me if I screw up the alignment' lol... Next thing I knew I hit the dirt, the car went over... I don't know how many times... and there I was, strapped in upside down. There was no way I was gonna be able to unstrap my harness and climb out so I had to wait there until my buddies rolled the car back over.
Anyway, the point is that all these years later the one thing I remember the most is that massive rush of adrenaline! I was on a high like no other all the way home. That was an experience I'll never forget.
