View Full Version : American vs Japanese vs European

Okay, this really isn't a, "whos better" comparison, i just wanted to feild test this little logical though progression on everyone else. When you look a the diffrent countires, you need to factor in the culture and geography of each area.
Japanese: They have little space to work with, VERY little. The most over populated country I know of. They need to make smaller, efficient cars that will last a long time, theres no space for massive car graveyards. This is some of the reasoning behind Japanese Engineering
Americans: Whoowee! We gots this big ol country, we dont hafta worry about freaking space liek those Japs does! Lets makes us some huge ass trucks and SUVs, it's not like we have everyone living in the same area of California like thems guys across the sea. The US is the biggest consumer of EVERYTHING, food, power, ect. But we're like what? 7th in the world populationwise, maybe lower. The American way? Waste and Haste
European: Very elite, very old, very into themsleves. You don't need to make that many cars, so you can focus on quality vs quantity. The Roads are much better than in the States, so theres more emphasis on performance, the performance will not goto watse on the excellent road system.
So yeah, theres kinda what I think so far of why cars are they way they are for the most part from each part of the world. Whoever makes the "best" new cars is slowly starting to become more of a matter of opinion, more now than ever. Technology is catching up with those who left if behind(America), those who didn't have much space to work with are finding new markets to expand into and export(Japan) and some are going at the same pace they always have and never bothering to look over their shoulders to see what everyone else is doing at the moment(Europe)

Raith, I have to admit that you are 100% right. Anyway, as far as cars are concerned, I prefer Japanese and European (mostly German).

Yeah, it's just too bad I don't have enough money to have any say in the car market yet. My Tempo is gonna last a while longer, and when it dies, I'm getting a VW GTi. Too many people give thier money to American car companies and that makes them think they're doing a fine job, so theres little room for chagne in the US industry, ah well.
Germans and Japanese are always working closely with thier Racing divisions to improve technology and performance. America is still caught up in NASCAR fever, in which nothing is really shared with each sponsors production vehicles. :P I so wanna move once I'm outta college.

Yep... the problem with most americans is that they're being over-patriotic and they buy american cars not because they are better, but just because they're american. They do it without even examining European or Japanese cars.

Well sence Americans gave the Japanese there Auto factories after we oblitered there stupid ass after World War 2, they have up to date equipment to make up to date cars. And sence America still manages to have the number one selling car ever and the fastest car ever, I think I AS AN AMERICAN, think we're doin pretty good. Sure we dont make supercars, we dont have to, we'll let some crazy Europeans do it for us. And Europe really should probably focus a little on cars for the every day person, cuz if you look over there, sure you'll find probably more BMW's and Mercades on the street, but everything else is a total peice of ****! Look at how many cars that gay even on Geo Metro standards are people cruisin around in. We also buy BIG TRUCKS, as you call um, cuz we have use for them. We haul stuff around and tow things. America is the most powerful nation on the world, we can do whatever we want, and thats good enough for me! I like living in a land that doesnt suck huge donkey balls and you can do pretty much whatever you want. And I dont know what the hell yer talkin about how Americans dont EXAMINE Forign cars, we buy the majority of Japans cars that they make. And theres lots of European cars crusin our streets. And theres no such thing as being OVER-patriotic. And sence your NOT an American, I feel you have no right whatsoever to judge us.

Alright, here we go around again Evo. Lets see, you call all Japanese stupid asses, that "idiot comment" #1 to your credit. SINCE you like to not spell check, I won't take any points off, I don't either. "Best selling car" means crap to me, the mass population is stupid, I know, I work at McDonalds, they all come through the drive-through. I'm not gonna buy a car cause everyone else is, thats ludacris. Fatsest car in the world? Fine, how many people can afford one? Wait, you said we didn't make supercars, mmmmmm, this a little contradicting? What cars we all can afford aren't as good as the imports, plain and simple, stated over and over again, its a FACT! Europe has EXCELLENT affordable everyday cars. Alfa Romao, Peugot, MG, all make a superb array of daily drivers at economically minded prices. Don't diss before you research. KIDS in HIGHSCOOL have NO NEED FOR BIG, GAS SUCKING TRUCKS! Trucks in their NATURE are BIG, good greif. If you're a Professional Contractor, Service/Maintence Buisness or other Commerical Enterprise, yes, you probably NEED a truck. You can also use it when you move or a freind does, how often does this happen? Four, maybe Five times on your lifespan. UNESSICARY! Getitng new furniture isn't all too common either. Even if you just liek building things yourself, most outlest will deliver the raw materials for a minimal fee, no personal trucks need thank you. This stupid thought that we can do whatever we want fails to make any sense at all. That is just retarded to think that. I hope that everyone else agrees with me on that. I'm sorry, and you ARE being overpatriotic. If you didn't remember, we are the HIGHEST comsumer of EVERYTHING....EVER! And again, we're definitly not on the top of the list for population, what does this say about our efficiency? WASTEFUL isn't great. Others make due with a whole hellova lot less, they aren't the ones "sucking Donkey Balls". Pride comes before the Fall my freind, I'm glad more people don't think like you do. Isolationist and Idiots will be the downfall of this counrty. Finally, yes there are many foreign automobiles cruising our streets. I never said all we do buy is American, that in itself is crazy. What I'm trying to point out is the American Brand loyalists who stick with the American cars companies PURELY for the fact that they are American, which is ignorance of a high degree. That aslo is OVERPATRIOTIC. If you didn't happen to notice, I AM from the USA, am very happy I live here and think I can fairly judge what state we are in at present. Widen your scope and think globaly, the old world is dying and the new one will leave you behind in the stone age.

Man, you keep on proving what I said... I don't have to say much, because Raith has been faster than me and he has rightfully answered you. If you don't understand your errors yourself, I'll not be the one to point them out to you. As Raith said, your pride and your ignorance will be your downfall. Just keep that in mind: try not to listen to your mind-washing government, which is full of propaganda, and try to think objectively and don't always believe what they say to you. Anyway, that's all I had to say. I'll try not to bother anymore with a guy that thinks like a 13 year old and spells his native language worse than I do. (PS: No offence Raith   )

Danny, i bet you're into cars, so i'm kind of surprised you don't know this ( it's our own country for God's sake  ! ). Holland has 2, very own car manufacturers: Donkervoort ( D8 150, heard of that? ) and Spyker ( C8 Double 12R, entered Le Mans '02 and '03. You didn't watch it? ). And believe me, not one of those marquee's models are the best selling. I bet you have more chance of seeing a Ferrari than a Donkervoort or Spyker.

HEHEHEH yeah but that's Quite logical don't ya think dark??
The F-355 is massive production comparing to the Donkervoort or Spyker??
I don't know the prices of the Donkervoort , but that is car SPEED car ... you can't even sit dry if it's raining here! And believe me it's raining TO much here!
SO VERY logical that a Donkervoort isn't a good selled car!
Spyker?? hmm logical to :P looks BUTT ugly :D and it's a real SPORTScar!
That'll be never GOOD selled cars if ya gonna compare them with normal cars like Fiat's , Toyota's ect..
I knew there from our country !! BUt i shame myself for it :)LOL
nice try..... ;)

you can't even sit dry if it's raining here!
Actually, you can. Mostly, Donkervoorts have their rooftop slide into the back, but the roof can be closed. But i'm not sure if this is true on all models ( although they have only 3 or 4  .... ).
That'll be never GOOD selled cars if ya gonna compare them with normal cars
I know, but you never told me the cars would have to be driven daily for the city roads  .
I didn't knew you shamed yourself so much for them, they aren't bad, you know :( .....

Having worked for Ford in the UK, the build quality of US cars is abysmal. I'm currently running a Beemer M3 with 120,000 miles (200,000 kms) on it, there are no rattles, squeeks or unwanted noises and I push it hard. Quality European engineering!! I was given the use of a V6 Probe with 50 miles on it, the indicator stalk fell off in my hand, the air con didnt work properly and this was supposed to be new!! In addition if the Yanks think that grey plastic is a nice interior then they can keep it.

Volkswagen Beetle - German (#1 seller)
MacLaren F1 road car - British (fastest)
You don't know how to make FAST cars in America, or cars that go round corners
Don't start arguing about cars & speed when you mention Europeans in the same breath, how many current WORLD motor racing champions are there, in REAL world championships with more than three manufacturers competing with drivers from all over the globe on tracks worldwide
Concerning being the most powerful nation, I've just got one word - CHINA!

Coming from Great Britain, the cars i usually see on the roads are BMWs, Mercs, Citroen Saxos, Ford Fiestas and Escorts, and the occasional Lotus Elise, Jaguar XJ220 or Ferrarri. Notice that all of these cars except the Fords are European cars, need i say any more? 8)

I'll chose europen brands, they get more class, and tradition, but sometimes america makes good cars, amd those big truck are necesary sometimes, to me almost all the kjapanesse is ugle, but there are a few cars really cool, 350 Z skyline, ans eclipse, lancer too.
but europ is better i tink
