Well @ my pc the link worked.... and the R4 seems to be a very nice sportscar...
looks really sporty and also the first specs about the engine put a lill smile on my face...
the only thing I don't like at the car at the moment is its colour... but there won't be just one colour to choose... hehe

Looks neat, Audi are defenetly on a roll at the moment :) .

Audi is revving up to launch a smaller sibling for its R8 super car, which could be badged the R4.

If it makes production the mid-engined R4 will rival sports cars such as the Porsche Boxster.

topCar magazine reports that the entry-level R4 will get the VW/Audi group's 2-litre turbo FSI engine. However, power will be increased to 201 kW.

The RS model will have a 2.5-litre in-line five turbocharged to produce 260 kW.

Audi is developing a brand new platform for the R4 while the transmission, steering and brakes will come from the existing parts bin.

According to topCar the R4 would not use lightweight aluminum like the R8 and TT. Audi will use a high-strength steel spaceframe for the chassis, with hang-on body panels made of plastic and aluminum.

Apparently kerb weight could be between 1 100 and 1 250 kg.

Production for the R4 is expected to kick off at the end of 2009.

idk, it looks hot, and I like the idea, but the engine... a 2.0 turbo??? c'mon if this is the R8 little brother, i want to see a V6 Turbo w/ something like 300 HP and the RS4 how about a larger V6 but no turbo w/ 350 HP.

I like it, I think its good that audi is expanding and producing different types of sports cars to appeal to everyone. Btw: can't wat for the R12!:D

Wow thats really nice. And wow thats really light. That engine will make it go pretty well. But more of a Cayman rival in my opinion. Question is, how much will it cost.

Yeah good point, makes much more sense. Audi already have a rival to the Boxster (the TT V6). And the R4 and Cayman will both have six cylinders and two seats, they are perfect rivals.

that's bullshit. the Audi TT already does that job, unless this is a future TT replacement.

As far as the website goes theR4 is going to have an inline 4, not a V6, which is what i was trying to say B4. it needs a V6 to compete w/ the competition.

and I agree w/ the boxer rival if it stays an inline 4

if this car actually comes out, i'll eat my own toenails. and that's guaranteed... someone remember that. the TT already rivals the Cayman and the Boxster, why would Audi bring out another Cayman/Boxster rival? think about it...

The TT currently rivals the Boxter, not the Cayman. This, if it comes out, will rival the Cayman, and not the Boxter.

the Cayman and Boxster are very similar cars, only the Cayman is a coupé and the Boxster is a convertible. they use the same engines and running gear... and are very similar on price. the Cayman and Boxster are in the same sector of the market; small sports coupé's/cabriolets

Yes, and Audi are obviously planning on making rivals to both these cars, even if they are very similar.

I'm not at all sure either... But Audi are obviously making good profit and want to make rivals to some of the best cars out there.

Their R8 is direct rival to the 911. The Cayman is "the baby 911", so why shoudn't Audi make a "baby version" of their R8...

the TT is basically that... and the Audi A5 will step between the R8 and the TT.

seriously... if Porsche takes over VW i doubt that Audi would make this car because it will affect directly the sales of the Boxter and Cayman... a lot!!
But if they do it... for sure that the power and performance will be reduced so the Boxter wont have another oponent

Why's everyone saying that Porsche is going to OVERTAKE VW ?!?!?! They're not, they are just going to acquire a higher percentage in the VW company, and Porsche's share of the company will still not exceed 50%.

I think this is too close to the TT. Then again, VW has the GTI and soon the Scirocco, so why not?

You really are the hero of useless one-liners... In the last fifteen threads I've consulted, you've made fifteen one-liners. Talk about forum-quality...

Ouch! Crashes are never nice. At least no one was seriously injured.

Its still a Cayenne. Its still an insult to the Porsche emblem. Its still the car that I wanna' blow up.

Looks pretty cool. Wouldnt mine Audi bringing another good car into the scene....

I've never been a fan of engine swaps. Simply because I dont know much about them and it seems, at least to me, that its a very shallow thing to do..

I dont know much about both GT1 and DTM racing so I've got no comments....

^^ Woohoo! Another BMW Sauber fan! And yes. The Evo does look good as well....

I'd keep the Datsun if I were you...the Supra might be a good car but nowhere as cool as that Datsun...

That slug thing is really disturbing....

I've never seen one before and would certainly love to...

Its a nice car but I'm not too keen on it....

The black one looks good. I'm not too keen on the white one, though.

I'm sure the car is good, if only I could get a better view of the whole thing....

If only my neighbour was like that. Sadly, thats never gonna' happen...

Like what most everyone is saying....go to somewhere deserted..

Seems like a pretty good car. I say go for it!

Like everyone is suggesting, get a Civic. Just dont rice it out.

I'm sorry, make that SEVENTEEN.

A bit excessive don't ya think ?

Sorry to go off-topic but I felt it was getting too much...

he has been like that for ages(i think?), vanquish never changed much, not even thinking to improve the quality of the posts. and hes posted, for example "Porsche 911 pleeeaase" in comparison sections and "wow, thats a nice car, i like it" in some threads...

I had to check the date of the article because I thought it might be old news. Audi were planning to turbo charge a 2.5 Litre I5 engine and put it in the TT. Although I thought that Audi had decided to stick to a normally aspirated 3.6 L V6 with around 300 bhp. I would like to see that engine turbo-charged and put in the TT.

However if this car is produced and it has approximatley 350 bhp and weighs 1,100 to 1,250 kg, then it should go like a rocket. I also quite like the looks of the car.

If the kerbweight is around 1,000kg to 1,250kg, 201 kW will be plenty powerful enough for some fun filled driving, I reckon.

Anyway, the car looks great I think. Good lines, sharing all the Audi's traits. Nice name aswell, I like it. Looks good in that colour aswell. I would probably take one of these over a Boxster, they look cooler and more modern.

wow, this is an excellent car, I just love the looks of it. :) the front totally resembles the R8, which is good, they havent totally designed a new ugly one. And for the people's links which don't work you probably have pop-up blocker installed... lol... :D j/k.
