Ok, this post is for the Rally gamers,
Richard Burns Rally vs Colin McRae Rally 2005

In simple terms, CMR is more famous, but RBR is a lot more realistic.

CMR2005 relies on having about 20 cars in it, whereas RBR only has 8, but is the pinnacle of realistic rallying.

So in another quick resumé, Colin McRae Rally 2005 is for the masses, and Richard Burns Rally is for the hardcore rally fans that want realism. (I of course will be getting both  RBR is on its way and i am pre-ordering CMR2005)

I for one Cannot call for which is best, I prefer RBR because of the realism, but I love the extra's the CMR2005 has, so either way, i'm happy

Colin McRae Rally 2005:
http://www.codemasters.co.uk/colinmcrae2005/

The core of the game is going to be the new multi-discipline career challenge - in which you'll start out in the lower leagues of club rallying, learn your craft in over 20 different classes of rally events including Challenges, Cups, SuperCups, Shields and Championships. With 300 stages of competition, and a huge variety of car classes including 2-Wheel Drive, super 2WD, 4-Wheel-Drive, 4WD Classics and more, it'll be the most complete rally experience ever offered.
As well as the Career challenge, you'll be able to jump staight into a 4WD championship, take on a single rally or individual stage, and then take on the world in online rallies with up to 8 players.

The all-new stages feature interactive scenery, so if you push too hard and hit a tree (or when, to be more accurate), you'll see it shudder from the impact and drop leaves from the branches. Collisions will also result in a dazed effect, where your vision will be blurred for a very short period from impact. On the subject of vision, bonnet cam is back for all those who like to gaze down on a pristine engine cover (if things are going well), or the painstakingly detailed under-bonnet engine models (if they aren't).

The acclaimed Colin McRae Rally damage engine has been updated so even light touches can scratch the paintwork - and as usual, panels and components can be deformed and removed in a realistic manner, showing the mechanical components of the car in extreme detail.

9 international locations (new German rally joins events through UK, Sweden, USA, Finland, Australia, Spain, Greece, and Japan), in Rally game mode, each with 8 stages. Large, animated spectator crowds cheer you on through the stages.

Incredible detail: An individual damage model for each car - right down to paintwork scrapes and a ‘dazed’ visual effect as you recover from a crash!

It came out last month, due to Burns' retirement because of a brain tumour last season its worked out well, and he hopes to return to rallying for next season, so something to keep him occupied with while he's out of action for a year :P

If RBR is really more realistic than CMR i'm taking RBR. I think the realism is the biggest problem of CMR. In CMR you can hit a house at 200km/h and nothing happens just putting revers getting back on track and go on. But i still haven't play the RBR so i have to test it.

CMR2005 comes out this Thursday.
And how exactly would you like me to lend you a game, when you live 250miles north of me
Once you get the hang of RBR, its not too bad, incredibly realistic damage model.

Personally, I can't stand the rally games that are so hard-core that you have to be really in to it to keep yourself from playing frisbee with your new CD. I think that the wider selection of cars in CMR would keep me happy, and the graphics look pretty similar.

I played in RBR and i have to say that it's great. I had big problems with finishing a single special stage all the time i was destroying my car and i had to retire from rally. I haven't played CMR 2005 yet but i think it's going to be much more arcade game than sim (like the older CMRs). So from this two games i would definitely take the RBR.

Send it to me, then after a week I send it back.
