My favorite is Gemballa. They just make great bodykits and engine modifications to Porsche's. One on my favorite is the Gemballa Mirage GT. Thats a great example of what Gemballa can do to Porsche's...

My favourite would be RUF because their bodykits go the best with Porsche's designs. Second would be Gemballa.

I like the RUF because its the orignal Porsche tuner. Runner-up is the Techart...

i would pick the gemballa

I'd go with Techart. My least favorite is Rinspeed, who've been responsible for some truly awful-looking Porsches.

Gemballa Techart and Hamman for sure. Narly evrything those guys do I like, and im not porsches biggest fan at all

RUF FOREVA!!! But, you just forgot maybe the fastest of all - Sportec(SPR1).

Gemballas are a bit too violent for me and RUF isnt just my type. So I pick Techart. Their cars are also considerably classier IMO.

Ruf, Gemballa, Techart, Speedart, 9FF, Hamann, Rinspeed, or other?

Nice thread ! But i mised a poll to vote

Robbie
Apr 21, 2007, 5:53 AM
you shuold make it in the comparison section and add a poll when you do a comparison, tip for a next comparison thread mate..

i cant think of other porsche tuners thuogh...

okay, are we doing the brands as in the SAME EXACT car they are all tuning? if so, give me the RUF, Techart and the Rinspeed ones, first, they are all great looking, Rinspeed is just crazy looking, RUF is well, very well porsche tuners and techart, nice rims and bodykit, and they make good mods for porsches too..

Gemballa, its cool, very cool, but i dont know, it just looks somehow, all weird to me, the rims, the colour, its a great looking, performaing car, but i dont know, just isnt quite my taste anymore...

Speedart, it looks great, but they are coping Techart and Gemballa sometimes, and they look somehow ugly...

9FF, one word, UGLY

Hamann, they make piece of junk...

if you are talking the brands as in theirselves, RUF as in the brand RUF, i would choose RUF, first, they are so concentrated to Porsches that the guy that made the RUF company will die with it beside his grave, i mean, they ALL look great, all of them is tested by the couple that made RUF, its just awsome...

I'd have to vote for Gemballa. Those cars already look pretty insane with their huge body-kits, but then Gemballa often throws on an extravagent paint-job! Having seen now two Mirage GTs and several Cayennes from them (what they did in the rear of that Cayenne is absolutely amazing, I would buy it just for it's rear seats!) as well as the Avalanche (I have a video that I took too of it's engine sound, wow), I can confirm that they really are quite some machines.

I'm going to say Speedart - although if you put TechArt on, i would've gone for them.

Has anyone voted for HAMANN? Please say no!

My favourite is RUF. But I really like the exterior modifications from TechArt. They're rims suit the Porsches perfect

None of the above. For a faster Porsche, I would go to ANDIAL.

Well, Rinspeed is by far the worst. 9FF is the most outrageous speed wise from what I've read, but in doing that, they need to greatly modify the body, therefore ruining the look of the 911. Evolution Motorsports is very impressive with their cars, and they don't put on stupid bodykits. So it will probably be Evo, and then Ruf.

mine would just have to be TechArt. They make excellent designs, and I especially like this one of techart: it looks excellent.

they dont go over the top visually but there cars are (reasonably) quietly understated

RUF for definite. They make great looking cars, really they do, and they make them great performing aswell. Are they classed as an actual car company now or are they still tuners? I think Monkey mentioned something about them being an actual car company, not just Porsche tuners, but I'm not sure now.

Their both. You can get a car with a RUF VIN on it or take your regular Porsche and have it tuned by them.

Just so you guys know, ruf is not a Porsche 'tuner'... they are a legitimate car builder. They tear Porsche's down to the frame and rebuild them with enough of their own parts that they are licensed from Porsche to call the cars ruf... NOT ruf Porsche

Their both. You can get a car with a RUF VIN on it or take your regular Porsche and have it tuned by them. That's a different division of the ruf company... but you're right, you can have it 'tuned' by them...

Ruf and Gemballa, I love both of them, and the fact that they picked porsche to make better. To me its very hard, most of the time those cars are built 100% to the max. They are packed with every technological detail to date. Trying to better them is a tough task, but these two I must say do it the best.

I was just curious what you guys thought. I have a Gemballa now and my 2 other 997's (Turbo/GT3) will be here shortly ( I have an '06 C4S cab) and I'm going to have them tuned. I leaning toward an RUF RGT package for the GT3 and back to Gemballa for the Turbo.

RUF since day 1. They always churn out the best stuff. Look at the CTR Yellowbird.

Next would be Gemballa (not the Avalance necessarily..) and then 9FF. The wheels are there for speed and speed only. They are just wheels though, and can be changed. The rest of the car is gorgeous.

Truly RUF and Gemballa would be the best for you. Techart for me are just morea bout the power and visual side of the tuning. When it comes to control or steer all these horses RUF are the best, and maybe second are gemballa - then you know you really have the best from your 650hp for instance. 9ff is just about the speed records, you don't need it, Hamann give you only body kits, Speedart are far away from the perfection of ruf or gemballa. Rinspeed is very interesting but for much money you won't get many othere horses, just design changes. This is from me.
Cheers and good luck with the tuning!

monkey's explanation will not impress the "boombox + bodykit" crowd. How many races have these guys won?

ANDIAL Porsche power has been producing racing results for decades. ANDIAL powered '83-'87(top 5 in '87) + '89 Daytona 24 winners.

How about class wins at Pikes Peak '94 & '96-'98?

How about a 700 HP 3.0 962 engine in a 911? They been there, done that.

Too bad for pedestrians that they don't sell bodykits...

I doubt Dauer would be considered a tuner. So I'll go with RUF, any aftermarket company that gets to be *so* good at what they do they have to be labelled an official manufacturer gets alotta points in my book.

RUF RUF RUF.. The CTR ''Yellow Bird'' has to be one of the quickest porsches in history. Other than that, Techart makes a good Carrera GT

Gemballa for me. The new cars from Gemballa looks sick! Them specs (GTR650 and Mirage GT) ain't so bad either.
The second would be Ruf. They've been tuning Porsches for decades and I trust their expertise.

Your kidding right? This is my garage now. I come on and chat with you guys because your car fans, not brag or lie about what I have. By the way. I'm fixing up my garage and would be thankful if anyone has any websites that are car related that I can buy stuff from(not Ebay). http://homepage.mac.com/luxury2/PhotoAlbum2.html

Bring the Gemballa ("MTV/Pimp" kewl tuner car) to a 110 degree F Nevada desert highway against a (multiple-endurance-race-winning) ANDIAL powered 911...

See hype vs. hp/boys vs. men. Sue me. (magazine pages flip rapidly...)

The best Porsche tuner I've ever had personal experience with (besides Ruf) would be myself. I do most of my own tuning and I was always impressed and satisfied with my work. Eventually I'll get another one to play with so you guys can see...

I do but hey, that's me! lol... Hell, I've got enough money tied up in trucks to buy a CGT, and Enzo, and a shop full of mechanics to fix them. Doesn't mean I'm rich, I just have good credit! lol

Each Porsche tuner has its strong points. I personally prefer Ruf because they are the most official and make cars with a good balance of performance, looks and driveability. For raw performance, I would say Gemballa comes first. They make some pretty extreme stuff. 9ff would be my choice if I wanted pure Vmax. TechArt and SporTech both make the nicest looking bodykits IMO. Even Rinspeed has it's niche -- making nice Porsches into weird apparitions.
