1000 units annual target

The extremely positive reactions to the world premiere of the KTM X-Bow at the Geneva Motor Show gave the green light: the Upper Austrian company will produce its lightweight sports car in series. KTM’s partner for this production should be Magna Steyr Fahrzeugtechnik in Graz, Austria – a partner with a long tradition and considerable experience in automobile manufacturing. A corresponding letter of intent has already been signed.

This decision led to a change in plans for the start of the X-Bow production. Contrary to KTM’s earlier intentions to have development partner Dallara begin with a pilot series of 100 units, Magna Steyr will start the automobile’s assembly. KTM head Stefan Pierer explains that the reason for this switch is the possibility to react more quickly to the high demand: “At Magna Steyr, we will achieve a higher production output appreciably faster. Furthermore, this decision enables us to simplify the procedure: we have to start up only one manufacturing process.”
Manufacturing begins at Magna Steyr in Graz in early 2008

So production will start in early 2008, with the first deliveries to customers expected in February. In order to meet the high demand – the company currently has around 600 orders - KTM will strive to reach the maximum annual production capacity of about 1000 units as soon as possible. In the years that follow, KTM expects a sales volume of more than 500 units per year.
Plans are still in place to produce the first 100 units as an exclusive special series. These introductory models have long since sold out and will be delivered with plaques showing their sequential numbering in addition to premium equipment.

I think it is really amazing!
The basic 220 horsepower version will do around 4 in 0-60 and there will be a 300hp version and also it might be interesting to know that it produces 2-3 times more downforce that lambo lp640!

This could really be a way cooler alternative to a Caterham IMO....

Oh.How much ktm weights?I think very little.Imagine what acceleration will do this car with the engine of 300hp and downforce more than lp640

the weights 700kg
pretty light, though still heavier than thew atom, but this KTM is amazing, the downforce it produces is 3 times more than yopur average supercar., plus the aero dynamics were prefected for hours and hours, a lot of work was put into this car, unlike the atom which was actually built in a shed, no joke

I struggle to see the point of this car over an Ariel Atom or for that matter the Caparo T1. I am assuming that it produces more downforce than the Atom, but do not see the advantage over the T1. Perhaps the price is lower but so is the ability of the car?

You could have included a poll, and statistics for the Ariel Atom, KTM X-Bow and the Caparo T1, and any other cars you think would be suitable competitors. I find it hard to make a decision based on the lack of information. I might have a look for some stats on the car, although ideally I would like to hear a review of all three.

EDIT: I can't find much on the downforce the Ariel Atom produces, but can't see there being that much difference. The Ariel Atom was designed in the wind tunnel apparently, and the Atom weighs less than the X-Bow. I really don't understand the point of this car (the KTM X-Bow).

If I had the cash I'd probably buy one. But after I'd bought an Ariel Atom. The Atom just seems the default choice if you're in the market for one of these cars, basically. The KTM doesn't look all too bad and it's certainly got the figures aswell.

Wow, this is very interesting and unique. This should be a great competitor to Caterham and Ariel. It also looks pretty good as well, i don't think it's that ugly, it looks very aggressive. And the specs are just amazing too! If i had the cash i would get one, it should offer loads of fun!

I have to say, i havent seen a car quite like that, its got a very good and "different" design to other models. looks good. Reminds me of a ferrari that pininfarina designed, looks very similar to this one. the overall design is very good looking, and lol, if you look at the yellow one it looks like some toy remote controlled car lol.
