BMW is showing off the CS Concept car -- which may hearken a new high-end sports flagship -- at the Shanghai auto show this week. It sports the latest refinements of head designer Chris Bangle's "flame surfacing" aesthetic, with more complex planar transitions and swage lines. wow that looks soo sick thats a nice beemer if they do make it , and im guessing from that look of the design its rivals are the AUDI A5/S5 , MERCEDES CLS/CLS63

Possibly, I wonder if they will come out with a coupe. Or and M version. I don't really understand the point of a big sedan like this if there is already the 7-series though.

I don't dislike the interior. Although I think the exterior is very ugly. Does anyone agree with me here? I think I would actually prefer a CLS 63 AMG, as long as they could get rid of that horrible wood interior.

I also think the Porsche Panamera is as ugly as hell, but I do like the looks of the Aston Martin Rapide though. I would rather have an Aston Martin Rapide or CLS 63 with an altered interior.

Just the headlights are weird and grill is too big if u ask me. I've seen some spy pics of the panamera with a spoiler on it and i thought it looked WAY better than expected.

The front of this car from the side looks like an Aston Martin. Looks okay, but really I don't see the point of BMW making an 8-series when they have the 7-series.

I like it, actually. Both the exterior AND the interior. BMW is thinking outside the box, and if some of you don't like that, too bad, some of us do.

this car reminds me of the ford interceptor concept but love the older 8 series over this.

interior is pure pimp, the fronts not that nice, but i loev the back lights!

Hmm, the front grille looks very weird, it's too big, it looks like a nostril.:D But it's still pretty cool, the rear looks alright, i like the taillights and the exhaust. The rims and interior is very nice as well. It looks very modern and white. Overall it's a great car, cant wait for the official stuff to come...

I like this car. The back and the side looks really good. Although the front looks ugly. Since this is only a concept it will probably have toned down front bumpers and grilles.
The 3rd picture definitely looks like a Rapide to me.

roof has a sloping line like the Charger .. looks pretty interesting although im not liking those wide front kidney grills.

The only thing messed up about this car is the front end IMO. The rear and interior, on the other hand, are magnificient!

if that Chris Bangler or whoever is designing it and BMW is going to make that a REAL official production car, im sure that someone is going to kill them...

and if thats going to be the new 8 series, gosh its just ugly, and the previous one is just sexy as heaven!!the rear looks quite good but the front, UGH! and the interior looks quite cool i guess, i quite like it, thats very good...

Looks pretty cool to me!! I like the designs it does kind of ressemble the Aston Maritn on the sides. BMW is very unique with the design!

about the only big BMW that i like, looks great. not sure on the front grille, though... apart from that it's sexy.

Once again BMW have successfully designed a ugly car IMO !

and yes, they did make gorguous cars, the previous M5, the previous M3 E46 and E36, those EVOs one and darn, those are lovely cars way before Chris Bangler or whoever he/she is messed up BMW

My taste is bad and good for this car i saw.I'm not so excited but not so dissapointed..It's good but i think not the final series 8 car that bmw will produce.It's a project?Right?

i'm guessing this is here since the 7-series is a mess up because no one really is interested in it causes its both boring and ugly.
Its not to bad, but a the real thing will most likely have a different interior, i still prefer the quattroporte

FINALLY! BMW has made a good looking (in side and out) big lux sedan, after the 7series was soooo ugly. Now thay just need to get rid of the 7 all to gether and BMW will be in business!:D

The only thing I like about that car is the rear and the interior

before all the hype goes up they'll prob end up scratching the production of it and this concept will go in the basement at HQ in Munchen..... i personally like the the overall design except for that front kidney grilll....too big in my eyes..

Very nice car, perfection in the styling department.

Well it would be great to see a return of the 8-Series. But if it does come back, it's got to be proper, I mean the old 8-Series was really really good looking, great performing, and was pretty much a legend. This concept is well on the way there, great looks inside out, pretty lush if you ask me, even the grill is very nice on the car, it could be a winner if it goes into production, hopefully it doesn't get scratched.

Dont like the looks of it at all. Good idea to fit against the CLS and all, but the car itself is just disgusting. Its really bad, worse than the 1-series! If there are votes for the most horrible looking cars of 2007, then this is winning! :-&

darn, i was just about to make a thread on this... lol. anyways, that's a very unique and new concept, I've never seen a concept like this before. very different from the others. to me it looks too meaty, its all fat. The taillights in my opinion look very good, very "conceptish" lol. And Lmao, I don't see any door handles, I guess you need to smash the windows to get in. lol.

I agree, I think it needs a deeper front spoiler. The rest of the car sits alot lower to the ground but the front end cuts off to high. Fix that and it would be %100 in my books.

You could say its ugly but thats because its extending beyond the traditional BMW styling. Look at the Audi R8 for example. It looks nothing like previous Audi's (granted its a totally new model where as this "might" be a newer version of a previous one) however its beautiful all on its own. I will agree you somewhat however, I find it looks a bit too aggressive compared to other Bimmers but maybe they're trying to find a new niche in the marketplace.
