Its a food type, from the Balkan Peninsula ( albania, greece, macedonia, yugo, etc..)

Its made in sheets of dough with some filling ( usually spinach, meet, feta cheese ( djath ), or yogurst/egg mix). Americans adopted the idea and filled it with whatever they could, so now u can find it in whatever kinds. They call it Meat Pie...

The Albanian/Turkish version is called Byrek. It is strictly made with spinach, meat, or feta cheese. The rest (Burek, when they copied the recipe they copied the name wrong).
