You've probably noticed the little article about the Audi S5, but has anyone actually seen one?

I caught a glimpse of one the other day coming home from school and let me tell you, the pictures do not do this thing justice. It is like this big, powerful grand tourer, rather than a typical "sport coupe." I don't have any pictures, nor do I know what a car like that is doing driving around Tampa, Florida, but I just have to say that it looks much better in person - and the engine sounds pretty damn good as well.
Wow...it's been nearly 2 years since I've logged in.

lol, you've been here for 2 years and you've got 5 posts. lol. and it's been 2 years since you logged on, wow, thats huge. lol.
anyways, for this car, I really love the looks, the Audi coupe looks even better, the front looks like its been taken off an RS4 and the window design looks like its been taken off a Mercedes Benz CLK500... lol. anyways, the car looks really good, especially in a coupe.

Of course it's possible. It might have been undergoing some last tests, or it might have been heading to a motor show, or it might belong to the Audi dealership...

It wouldn't be undergoing tests outside of germany, if it was going to a motorshow it would be in a truck, and the dealership's model won't arrive till the others do.

So you think he's lying?
I dunno... maybe some magazine had an exclusive test of it... watever, maybe it was just an A5 with some kind of sport package.

Welcome back and i dont think you are coming back just to lie...
im not sure if its a LIE!!!, but beh, they arent really released for the public for real, they are mainly for car shows and stuff, which of course almost all new cars will happen to go through this stage, but as what Ravenous said, it would defineatly go on a truck, only if its outside that car show location because its going to be driven in the show..
tests, im not sure about it, if it was a BMW, im sure that its a lie, because they dont test them in Florida, they test them in deserts and cold places, not much in florida..im not sure on Audis...but if you lie, please accept it, we do not like or quite accept people lie

just a thought... i'm sure everyone saw what the new toyota "tundra" truck looks like !
a guy that works for toyota was driving one of them as a "DEMO car" before it even came out... he told me he got it in january 07' and the truck was only available at the dealership in March, THINK ABOUT IT.
if the guy said he saw one -> it could be true.

Impossible. He's a liar, he has to be. Boooo.
I hate posts like that, which is why I'm especially starting to dislike M3_GTR, bloody kid. However, it's actually the first time I've seen a photo of the new S5 so thanks pheonix. It looks prettttyyyyyyy.

Yeah but we're not talking about A6s here. They've been out for ages, he's talking about the S5, which you can hardly say resembles the A8!

Again, it doesn't have to be OFFICIALLY released for it to be on the roads. You know there can be some exceptions in life...

lol, it had to be an S5, it looked exactly like the picture, I swear. Two-door audi, same grill, same wheels, in black. It wasn't as small as the TT and it was only two doors, besides, it didn't have as swoopy of lines as the TT, it looked like a two-door A4 with a bit bigger body. Unless it was some sort of A5 prototype (are they making an A5?), or kit car, then I don't know what to tell you. It was driving the other way and it was a bit hard to get a picture of something when you are coming to a stop in traffic and the Audi is speeding off the other way.
The wheels were the same, or very close to the ones pictures, it was black, and I can say that the black paint is not quite as matte as the photo, it does shine like a gloss or something.
I found an article (in german, unfortunately), with a spotting of an S5 on the Pacific Coast Highway:
http://www.autogespot.com/index.php?id=120
It looked exactly like that, but in black.
I saw an R8 on the highway about a month ago as well, it might have been doing some tests or something. Maybe the local dealership (Reeves Import Motorcars) has some kind of deal to get the cars to display or something?
(Yes, I know I haven't logged in in 2 years, but I usually just look at the site, not the forum)

I've seen the a5 at the AutoRAI, and was very impressed with the front, but the side and the rear are pretty anonymous, nothing special. And that's a shame.

That's not German, it's Dutch. And it's an article about a spotting from late March in America. So after its release. And there have been A5/S5's spotted at the German roads too after it's release. So it's not unbelievable you saw one.;)

Nope its not out yet. See:
The Audi S5 is an extra sporty offering to complete the new series. A powerful V8 FSI engine gives the S5 a dynamic edge, which underscores its athletically accentuated design. The A5 and S5 are available to order from 6 March 2007 with the first vehicles due for delivery from June.
So yeah its highly unlikely you saw an S5/A5 in Florida when they're not out yet. You sure you didn't see this?

or maybe you are seeing an RS4 convertible....you know, its got a black top, its having a black colour on the car, but they do look similar, you could have seen the TT, RS4 Convertible, and thats quite it, im not sure but if you saw those friggen badges that would be cool, sadly you dont have any pics
and wow, the S5 looks pretty good in real life and in that colour

Audi do testing in many different parts of the world. They test at the Nurburing, german autobahns, Nardo in Italy, Sweden (Cold Wheather testing), some hot part of the US (forgot the name) etc. So its very possible he saw it having some final settings being fine tuned. I saw a SLR testing in Hampshire when it was two weeks from being launched. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss him as a liar.

The S5 is not on the road yet as a production car (ie- not yet being sold).
Here's four pics I snapped at the NY autoshow last weekend;

I like Audi, and I'm sure this will be a stellar barn-stormer. But really its looks are rather bland.

I'm not the best photographer (and it was rather crowded- getting bumped) so I apologize for the poor quality of these shots-
here's the rear:

wouldnt be the first time some one got ahold of a car before its even out.
some one just poted a car they got before it was even released (owned by like a friend of thiers or something).
also, could always be a case of mistaken identity
regardles, I like it, much better looking than the tt coupe.
welcome back pheonix, lol
you still in love with vipers?
we joined at nearly the same time, and although I've been gone everyone once in a while due to family issues, moving, internet disconnections and what not, ive still typically been here.

Krov, thanks for the pics, I can definitely say it looked just like that, but it was in black. It did look a bit lower to the ground though and wheels were chrome.
And yes, still in love with vipers...though I'm still looking to get a model of the Team Oreca Viper from Le Mans in 1998. I've been here as well, just on the site part, not the forums so much.

Phoenix, I 100% beleive you. I can say this because I was in Tampa not that long ago and saw an A5 on I4! It was grey. These things have been spied on the road before, check Audi enthusiast sites.
EDIT: You know, it might've been the same S5 you spied...
