i guess this is the first v10 R8 to get destroyed #-o . All thats left is a pile of poo with rims and a roll cage.

I had seen this and thought about posting the news, although thought it wasn't that worthy. No insult to you Merc.

If you look at the 'before' pictures the car looks a lot better without that stupid 'side blade' that I disliked so much. Apparently it was there to break up the length of the car, although I would prefer them to stop fiddling with the car. It is possibly to over think a situation, and the same goes for designing a car.

Also I wish they would stop worrying about 'hurting' Lamborghini sales. As someone else said in the great quotes thread "If you're going to do a job, do it properly" and I would add "...or don't bother in the first place".

If you actually read the article, you would realize that those two statements you just made are absolut rubbish...

It brakes my heart seeing it in that state

Makes me real happy. That thing deserves to be burning on the side of the road looking the way it does. I don't care HOW good it drives it's got "side blades".....

.......

Seriously, giving this thing a V10 basically makes the Gallardo pointless, right?

Oh, wait, the Gallardo actually looks decent, actually has some pedigree, and doesn't have that stupid shnoz on it. So, I guess that means Audi is just expecting it's V10 handbag to fail. Fair enough.

This quote sums it up.
Unfortunately, it seems that Audi's V10 R8 Prototype has inherited a less than desireable trait know to Italian supercars -- catastrophic engine failure
I hope they iron out that "little" problem soon. It would really suck to have your nice new baby burn up because of bad quality.

Wow, that is a huge crash. It's gotten burnt to a piece of crap. The top looks like a roll cage now and overall like a Caterham like what Robbie said.

Aww that's crap. It's just a melted pike of crispy dog turd right now. :( I can't wait for this car though. Good looking, good performance. Hopefully that won't happen to any V10 R8s. Can't see it happening. Unlucky for the car though!

i dont get why they would release the R8 with the RS4 V8 then a few months later decide to whack the Lambo V10 in there. Why could they not just do that in the first place, the original R8's are gona depreciate like crazy now. Seems pointless to bring out the V8 version if they were planning on bringin out the V10

What can you expect. It was a matter of time. New Lambos has burn so it was just a matter of time for this one to burn also

Sig worthy! Lol :D

Glad the driver was ok. Guess Audi thinks its R8 is HOT stuff then, i personally like the R8, think its very cool. Will they call the V10 version the R10? And do you think they will use VW's Diesel V10 to create a R8 TDI? To celebrate the Le-Mans wins maybe?

they're thinking of using their own new 500bhp V12 5.5-litre TDI... it's going to be used in the A8 and the Q7 first, though.

Why not, i like the sound a Diesel supercar for some reason.

yeah especially if it'll put up a good fight against a Bugatti Veyron in-gear, due to its low weight and 1000Nm (possibly more in production specification) of torque...
