....Civic type R? Im considering purchasing a Civic Type R, and did take one for a test drive, but didnt have much time to test the midrange. It was very quick from a standstill, or when i was revving it very high, lifted off, and then accelerated again, but im worried the lack of torque means the car will suck for things like going from 30-70mph.

I'm not really a technical person, and dont really understand if this is true or not. However, cars like the Seat Leon Cupra R which is only £1000 more, has about the same BHP (give or take 10), but about 100lb/ft of torque more. What does this mean in the real world, as there is not much difference bewteen their 0-60 times or top speeds. In fact the Civic is slightly better on both accounts.

Thanks for any input guys and gals.

torque determines the acceleration of the car..so the more torque the faster/quicker the accelaration

go for the civic nicer then the leon cupra :D

Get the Type-R and you won't be disappointed. The difference in torque compared to other cars is insignificant. Besides, you could keep the revs high.

In a track the Civic would be better, but as for rolling acceleartion you'll get a hell lot nmore with 100Nm more torque, it depends on what are you using the car for, if it's for racing get the civic

I'd get the Civic anyway. For a normal ride, 200Nm of torque for a 1200kg car is more than enough.
