What do you guys think of the new rules.
Personally I like them especially during qualifing. I think it'll be better again after silverstone when launch control e.t.c. is taken of the cars, that'll make the start less formulaic.

Yes new rules are good. It seems to me that ferrari didn't acclimatise on it at the start of this season, but now it is ok for them. season 2002 was very bother, but this is ok.
by the way this is a nice question:)

New rules for the pole position made formula 1 interesting than last year where ferrari, mclaren and williams got the first six positions (not all the time but mostly). With the new rules we even saw renault having the pole and the 2nd and ferrari, mclaren and williams being behind. At the start of the season I thought it won't be interesting but i was wrong :)

yes season start was a little bother but I think that next seasons will be much better especially when they bring new rules. I heard that there is some suggestions to few teams use same parts for their cars. This will make F1 much cheaper sport.

This will make F1 much cheaper sport.

Thats a major point with the new rules.
Before, new technologies on the lauch control, e.t.c. e.t.c. was costing millions in research and development.
- which wasn't too bad for ferrari and mclaren, but for the teams like Minardi who cant even afford to pay the driver, It was making them so horribly uncompetitve.

The new rules have closed the gap a little... but not enough i feel.

i think that the stupidiest idea for new rules was to put bobs on car depending from driver points to make him slow. Thank God they didn't accept them.

mallon
May 29, 2003, 1:52 PM
yeah, it defeats the purpose of trying to develop new teechnologies for engines/aerodynamics e.t.c. is you just go and handicap the guys that develop the best stuff.

The vote seems fairly unanimous, people like the new rules... :D

This new rules was the only chance to save F1 championship. And now it is ok.

yeah the ratings feel by a 1/4 form 2000 - 2002 due to the predictablility of ferrari

i think the new rules are great!!
It gives more rush to Formula 1, Last year was all FERRARI,FERRARI and.....FERRARI, ferrari will win probably this year again but it's the difrence for the other teams it's not so big and boring!!! ;)

And i am really ansious to see F1 in 2004, Traction Control it's to be over, 610 Kg with 800 HP on the rear tires....eheheheh....we will see who it's the master when it comes on controling the car!!!!

cyyyaa..........vrruummmm

Yes traction control and the others electronic helpers is ****. When they remove it then we will see the best driver.

Yes traction control and the others electronic helpers is s***. When they remove it then we will see the best driver.

well not the best driver, the car still has more of an imput. What will be seen is an increase in driver input.
Pressumably alot more spin offs, and in the rain, even more - should make for some good viewing - which is what they are after...

well the new rules have made more exciting Grand Prix'ss - so thats all that matters.

Anyway what was wrong with qualifing? It was still good, especially when everyone kept getting provisional pole...

The rules are good.I got bored in the previous championship when the Ferrari's smashed everything in their ways.I was getting so bored. As for the qualification look at the topic that was made for it! :|

I agree with you guys that this is more excitning! your indeed right about that!

But I'm not a F1 fan ,, I'M a FERRARI fan , i want to see BIG competition for place 3.4.5.6 ect. Ferrari must be no. 1 and no.2 4 - EVER!
I sometimes get really angry because : Example---> What's gonna happen tomorrow!
I think if you gave Schumacher a few more laps ( what he had with the old rules)
he was much faster than he is now! , MOre competition for Montoya!

You know , i think much people think the NEW rules are good because this year there is more exitning races ect.
But i think that wouldn't be diffrent with the old rules because i think the competition is back JUST because the DOMINATION of Ferrari if gone!

This is the reason that you don't like the new rules.I don't agree with you.
The championship MUST be challenging.Ferrari HAVE to be on first place with this challenging.Look the Constructors and the drivers championship.Schumi have to make good races and take the championship for him,Ferrari and ME!!!

yeah maube your right about that , but i think it's much to complicated to with the thing that you can't change anyting to the car after your Qualify .. that's REALLY BAD!
Now .. you have to set a perfect qualify time with race setup ... well i don't like that because i think they all got NEW rulkes like that to stop Ferrari , and their second thing was they wanna stop Williams etc. more to let the other teams closer, well i think they had to do that on another way...

Now tghe rules are not fair in my eyes , it looks more fair to me if all Bigger teams give money to the slower and less rich teams ( so not toyota)

well.. we'll see or next year the rules gonne be changed a bit.. i hope soo..

The new rules now mean that F1 has never been better...
F1 is so much better now that no-one can call who will win e.tther the constructors/drivers champ..

yeah maube your right about that , but i think it's much to complicated to with the thing that you can't change anyting to the car after your Qualify .. that's REALLY BAD!

what's wrong with Parc Ferme. I think its better - it adds to teams making more difficult decisions like more fuel poorer qualifing or good qualification low fuel.

All-in-all i think well done FIA.

Aug 28, 2003, 8:46 AM
well I don't like that i like to see they were fighting for the NO.1 place in 12 laps!

I think the Fia FINALLY have to forbid ALL electronic stuff even Electronical gear changing!

greetz : Danny!

mallon
Aug 28, 2003, 9:49 AM
well that'll never ever happen. You want all electrics to go? The computer that records all data is a big help in research so removing that would be terrible for the sport. And its a safety device.
You want powered steering, all that to go? Why?
Id liekto see driver aids go, it would make e.g.the starts alot more exciting.

BTW gear changing is hydraulic not electric.

Schumi
Aug 28, 2003, 1:37 PM
I agree.I am a Ferrari fan but I like these rules more.Look Ferrari is almost to lose the Championship and Schumi to lose the Drivers championship.
That's challenging for me.Ferrari have to win with their own.

Aug 28, 2003, 7:52 PM
I think the Fia FINALLY have to forbid ALL electronic stuff even Electronical gear changing!
Well they can't change that. If they used manual transmission with a clutch, then it would melt with all these violent and frequent gear changes.

Well Jim , that's what i like to see :d

Look who have;s as the first team the car under control again :) and perfect again!

@ Mallon ..

No i mean , stuff like Electronic gear changing , traction control , launch control , Power steering indeed! Like the early years wanna see DRIVERS agian!

Me too.I like the championship in the way it looks like right now. It's the best for all teams.
My team have to prove that they are the best.If they can do that, they are the BEST for real.

Can anyone please explain me what are 'Slicks'? I know they are some special type of tyres, but what exactly?

Alfa Romeo 156 GTA
Aug 30, 2003, 8:03 AM
Slicks , are tires like you have under a Gokart or something...

Tires without profile , like the F1 tires must have now,..

Greetz : Danny!

mallon
Aug 30, 2003, 8:27 AM
yeah, simply just tyres with no 'pattern' just smooth rubber.

Alfa, they made these rules for getting more money. In the previous championship Ferrari won without a real competitor and some fans from other teams stopped watching F1...Bernie lost money by this and they said to change the rules...This was gonna be a minor for Ferrari and the other teams have their chances...
